- 1925 Silent film adaptation of Arthur Conan Doyle's 1912 novel.
I use these colorizing projects to help me in the learning process of the
programs I used for video editing, mainly Topaz and DaVinci Resolve.
Suppose to be the full public domain version of The Lost World - 1925
If you search TH-cam you will find other B/W and Colorized versions.
I DL'd a B/W version from the Internet Archive web site, a wonderful resource.

Really enjoyed this movie. The creatures were better than a lot I've seen in 1950s-1960s movies.
thank you for posting this historic, classic film. i'd never realized that it was, in effect, a prequel to 'king kong', w/ willis o'brien doing the stop-action-motion for both films, later mentoring a young ray harryhausen.
Thanks for the information, nice to have additional knowledge.
This footage is from 100 years ago. So nice to see this.
This version is much better than the 1960 remake. At least in this version the dinosaurs actually look like what people thought dinosaurs looked like in the 1920's.
One of the most revolutionary, influential, and impactful films of all time
AMAZZZING!!!!
Thanks so much for this Rare 20s Gem!!
Thank you for positive comment.
Better restoration than the one I have on DVD. Wallace Beery, Lewis Stone and Bessie Love; all major stars in the silent age. Beery and Stone moved into sound as character players at MGM. Willis O'Brien would perfect his stop-motion monsters eight years later in "King Kong" at RKO. The 1960 remake has more bells and whistles, but this one's more fun.
I love all the additional information, I’m working on a upscaled B/W version as I type , not sure how it will turn out as it will be exporting till tomorrow ,it will have some footage at the end that was not used in the film, well, that’s what I’ve read anyway. I will probably take the new B/W version and attempt to colorize it as I am balancing the BW to be equal throughout the film, hopefully. Mike
Always wanted to see this movie 🎦..glad I did,,🎉🎉🎉🎉😊
I love these old (and some newer) stop motion movies, Wish the quality of the colorizing was better. it's cool even in B/W.
Somebody from 1925 comming to 2024 and watching Jurassic World, they would be freaking out.
Agreed ! Then tell them "we’ve been to the moon and back ,more than once and it’s not made of cheese, smile. "Jurassic Park" had my brain twisted at its time.
This was terrific! Thanks. Even though the dinosaurs were not very realistic, by today's standards, the creators gave them such personality! How exiting this must have been at the time! I enjoyed the colorization. Like old picture postcards.
That was so well done and stuck very close to the book. Thanks
I saw this in 1925 with my grand children at the Plaza Theater out west.
LoooooL
Good gosh, that is great.
@@thomaswayneward TKS, I was 50 in 1925, the years have gone by fast, tomorrow I will be 149 years old. 😀
I have the book, so I'm looking forward to this movie !
The original Jurassic Park!
Super!
Thanks for sharing, amazing!!!
Impressive! Theanimationis miles better than those produced in the sixties.
I love the scenes on the Amazon they're so beautifully shot I'd love to know where this movie was made
nice film. I really liked it
I really enjoy the film and others like it.
I came to watch this... and my cats fell in love with it. I've set aside to pull up for them (It's snowing and cold outside; so they needed the exercise.). (I like the video, too!)
All my cat does is sleep .
@@Kamikaze3557 lol!
Great movie.
Meu pai ainda não era nascido....bem nostálgico! ano 1925
beautiful and fascinating, heard of it, finally watched txs
The iconic predecessor of King Kong!
I'd rather watch a sharper imaged B&W (which I'm doing right now on a different YT channel) that this blurried colorized version. Just came back to tell ya'll. There are options available. Bye now. 👋🏻
Can you post a link ,I’d like to watch it myself.
It is amazing, but for the first time I could feel what it would be like to live in the age of Dinosaurs. None of the modern movies made me feel that way.
I’ve watch a few (same movie) posts here on TH-cam, I enjoy them, I find it amazing how they were able to pull it off in those early cinema days, so cool !
A B/W upscaled version is uploading as I type this.
The ending is that where the loch Ness monster came from?
thanks
Music at 1:26:14 is Dies Irae from Requiem by Giuseppe Verdi. Interesting...
I’ll have to look that up, nice find !
2:34 only 1 animal was injured during the filming...
First Natiional pictures merged with Warner Brothers a few years later
I hope the brontosaurus 🦕 made it home okay. For a bit, I was worried he was going to kidnap Paula and climb Big Ben.
That was a great comment, made my day…
Unfortunately I see they've taken quite a bit of licence with the interpretation of the book but nevertheless fantastic to try out a silent experience with the very first installment of the world's first Jurassic park story
Did she travel to Loch Ness ultimately?
These dinosaur are a lot better than those the have in later film's a lot of them don't even look likea dinosaur
I love the color it reminds me of the early to strip Technicolor it looks like early Technicolor not modern thank you
😊 Lewiston Mickey Rooney's father and all those films
What they need to do next is dub in the dialogue and get rid of the reading cards.
Now that is a great idea, I can see the comments "how dare you do that" by some responses I’ve got from those pissed just for upscaling or colorizing some old footage. But I personally love the idea as my eye sight is failing me, oh, some foley sounds could be added too.
@@Kamikaze3557 I agree. I didn’t think of that. I recently saw an updated version of Dracula -1931 and they added soundtrack
And color and it added a lot to the movie.
PRECURSOR TO........KING KONG......THE LOCKNESS MONSTER....LOL...
Out of all the versions of this movie I liked yours best. I took a small piece and did a soundtrack modification experiment using the 1933 King Kong music by the Moscow symphony orchestra. I hope to make a complete soundtrack patterned on your version. I will not take your entire movie. 1 because that would be rude of me, and 2 mine has a jerky look to it. I hope you will take a look at it. And I BEG that you will not make me take it down. It runs 1 minute and 39 seconds.
Use it all if you wish, and I appreciate your kind words. It’s a copy right free movie (except for the soundtrack, I think) , I have no claims on it, I just wanted to attempt to help it out a bit on resolution etc. I would very much enjoy watching what you add, please send me a link or a search phrase when it’s uploaded. , thank you again- Mike
@@Kamikaze3557thanks, I thought the colorization process was protected.
Brontosaurus Rex.
Tampered with
Smile, good terminology ,Yep
失われた世界の一番古い映画ですね~😮🎦
Wish I knew how to translate that here.
Nessie exists. :)
Ten seconds later - I'd rather watch the original B&W output! Sorry, AI failed again. Keep trying - don't give up. I'm an Adobe Photoshop lover and have colorized a lot of pics - it's hard; right cousin? Of course you're using the highest resolution copy available (it must be or AI will get confused). I can look at a B&W image and often tell if she's a sandy blonde, redhead or blousy brown; can AI do that? One day . . .
Right with you there, just no real decent colorizing software out there, well, at the consumer level anyway. I’m using DaVinci Resolve 18 studio to help before and after the colorization process. I get my BW video from archive.org and try to find the cleanest copy, of course, some may have already gone thru some processing. I’m just trying to keep my interest up by attempting upscaling ,colorization etc. at 66 with some scary memory issues happening I’ve taken Dr. Advice and finding an interest that pushes the memory process. Thanks for the input and reply. If I want to just enjoy the movie without all the colorization artifact distractions it’s BnW for me too.
Is there a way in YT player to turn off color?
You’re joking. Right?
Just added a B/W version, should be uploaded shortly.
Old silon stamps sell.i am need many.😢
Enhanced and colorised? Public domain is one thing, but I guess you've never heard of moral copyright? Not just a concept but an actual thing, aka having respect for the artist and the art as it was created and intended to be exhibited.
Move on and grow up. It’s not the actual film it was re interpreted once digitized, you children are something else . Go back to TH-cam for kids. Now go find the actual film and view it, it would be the only one with any nonsensical "moral copyright" and good luck with that….lol
I love these nasty comments, it helps with my memory loss , oh man, I guess no one should ever cover anyone else’s songs or music, or ever even sing them, wow, are you getting it yet child? Wait, never shall one do a remake of an original movie. How silly and sad you are.
The colorizing is terrible. I much prefer a restored black and white.
Yea, very limited in consumer level colorizing software. shame ,Id like to have more control over the process, maybe someday and before I pass away, 66 and not getting any younger.
@@Kamikaze3557 Actually, I think the colorizing is very well done. Credit to you, Michael, for a job well done. Much appreciated. Thank you.
Honestly I never thought about the colors because the movie is so good that I was totally immersed in the action. A great film. Thank you for posting.
Thank you Larry, I just enjoy the process and was advised by the Dr. To Find a hobby that can help me with slowing my memory loss. Thanks again for the encouraging comment !
@@gerardosalazar161 Gerardo, thank you for your nice comment, I know it’s not great but fun to try and make it the best possible form the limited tweaks the software allows.
I love old movies. I hate colorized. Stop it.
Grow up, the world does not exist for your pleasure alone. move on.. don't like ,don't watch. rather simple .
"Colorization" looks like s--t.
Grow up, and wash your mouth out with soap. Cause if u think anyone cares what you think, your delusional.
It is real bullshit by the story . They are very jealous $ . They never trust me since several years ago . I saw them to very close to family and friend than. They away me alone since several years ago. Why they won't talk me since the Happy holidays month ago . They always without me . They are not comfort and very fear me. They have been lied me since several years ago .
Sorry to hear about your problems, sadness. My family has a lot of problems understanding me also. Most of my life. Some are gone now and I miss them but it sometimes still hurts. I have hung in there with a lot of kindness and now am able to see my grandkids. I feel your pain. Don't know what else to say, except HANG IN THERE! You are still worth something! 😊
Worst film i have ever seen in my lifetime
How old are you?
Im sure thats the same dinosaur that appeared in Buster Keatons “Three Ages.” Same Wallace Beery too.
