Another masterpiece of Conan Doyle's series of Holmes mysteries with Nigel Bruce who is a perfect Dr. Watson as Basil Rathbone was the most perfect Sherlock Holmes among the many portrayals by various actors. Just the best!
I love Sherlock Holmes movies no matter who is in it or if it's black and white or color. The only problem I have is no one today knows what or how to make a good movie. 🙏😇🇺🇸
I agree, I also love most of the Holmes actors. There's only one I dislike, and this is in the movie where Holmes fights against dinosaurs, which is a complete stupid movie.
My favorite Sherlock Holmes film, AND now, in color😁!!! That DEFINITELY adds, to the viewing experience. Seems to be time compressed. The vocals are sped up, slightly.
A sad but touching fact.. Rathbone said, when asked about doing more Sherlock. Movies after Nigel Bruce's sudden death that he couldn't do any more without Bruce.. Bruce died for a heart attack at 58.. he said, "No one could do Dr Watson like him"
@@carlingblacklabel2864. Couldn’t disagree more, Nigel Bruce was as integral as Basil Rathbone to the Sherlock Holmes movies. No wonder at all that Basil would not continue without Nigel Bruce. A great pity, but understandable.
Only the best prints of old movies are used for colorization. That is why we see so much detail. The detail has to be there first before the colorization process even begins.
Este tipo de extraordinarias películas o series, me han ayudado a ser un mejor Abogado. Me han enseñado a detenerme a analizar los detalles de los asuntos que llevo. ¡Excelentes series!
Children will never be interested in movies without stunts and special effects. Sherlock Holmes movies are boring for younger generations. Every generation has it's time and culture. Let's not make them watch things they don't want to watch.
The negative effects are not your generation. It's your age. Once you are old enough, this stuff is fantastic. Who wants to watch the junk they look at? Not me.
How sad u think without flashing lights, kids would interest in the Classics! They read Harry Potter books. There are no 3d effects in reading. Good literature doesn't need artificial embellishment to inspire attention.
I think that Basil Rathbone is my favorite Holmes black n white or colour although Christopher Plummer is close in his Sherlock Holmes vs Jack the Ripper film.
Mock and Sun? Sound more like a firm making footwear than coffins. A little investigation into Britain's railway system seems to be required by the producer of this film: if you want to go by train to Edinburgh you get a train from King's Cross, not Euston.
Six minutes in and the world-famous detective and his stooge are blabbing about the enormously valuable diamond that is on the train-in the hall of a full coach. Good judgment there.
sir basil rothbone and mr jeremy bretts were the closest sherlock holmes as seen by me...now a days holmes serial and movies has turned into source of amusements lacking analysis and old day charm
Thr color truly brings out her stylish clothing jewelry and her fine features and emphasizes her shapely form and she was gorgeous id liked to have seen her in other films..better yet like to see her in stockings and a garter belt...i mean ÐAAAAMM
When colorization goes wrong. The exterior colors of the train cars are incorrect. The LMS (London, Midland & Scottish Railway) coaches of that time were not two-tone grey, but were simply crimson. The color was called Crimson Lake. It's not a big deal to most of us, but to millions of Brits who love their railway heritage, this is a considerable mistake. The coach in the original print is two-toned, so the film colorists were hampered.
Oh dear, I really can't understand how anyone can put up with Jeremy's effete and jerking mannerisms. His style of acting does not lend itself to a believable Sherlock Holmes.
@@theresabromar5415 that's your opinion which I respect but Jeremy Brett plays Sherlock Holmes in keeping with the books and also David Burke and Edward Hardwicke both play Watson also in keeping with the books and not as a bumbling clown in the films

MR. BASIL RATHBONE IS THE BEST MR. SHERLOCK HOLMES. ONE OF VERY FEW REASONS TO LIKE TH-cam. FINDING THESE GEMS FROM THE PAST.
I’ve got all of basil rathbone Sherlock films in black and white, it’s great to see them in colour

I am still watching.....
Lestrade and Watson two funny caracters . Make me laugh🤣🤣

I wish Rathbone had done more. !!!

Hardly, Bruce was a poor Watson

I do like basil the best it's a shame that Sherlock Holmes versus Dracula the film was burned in a fire.. they do have the reading of it
Great movie The colorization really brings out the details in This Magnificent film!

You are the best Basil!!!!!
Basil is good but Jeremy Brett will never be equalled or bettered
Awesome job, I really appreciate the effort of preserving these films and giving them new life!
It's even better in colour but the black and one is a classic film
Amazing how Universal Studios made this movie on their backlots in Hollywood with the sets and backgrounds resembling England 😊

It's about time. ,the classic all should be colorize and put in all move theaters. All children would love them
Yeah, all the B&W challenged children that are even, thirty years old, will be finally able to view, these also🤭!!!
The best idea for young generation to seè the movies that is better than nowadays

Poor Lestrade gets his head bashed on the table after Sherlock and Watson lift him up after being knocked out! That’s adding insult to injury
Love these!! 🕵️♂️
WOW A COLOUR VERSION OF THIS FINE FILM
Who was that Beautiful Woman the boy could not hide his a.mazement.

Renee Godfrey. All my comments (so far) in this post have been about her.
@teeteringonthebrink.305What a stunner.

Renee Godfrey; Gloriously gorgeous.
I love these and Ron Howard ones,!
Renee Godfrey was an absolute stunner
True fact. Style, Beauty, Attitude.
@@colinstewart1432 couldn’t place her accent unfortunately, but who cares. According to Wikipedia she was a Miss New York.
And colorization brought out her intense Beauty and the clothing she wore the Elegance

Oh yes...
This reminds me of Agatha Christie. That oaf Watson is hard to take.

I get the feeling the producer won't be bothered about that after all these years.
It's you that needs to do the investigation 🤣

Apparently unbilled in the movie is the young woman escorting the casket. Does anyone know what this actress' name was?🎉

Yes what a cracking bird, but alas no actress !
The movie has been made faster by 1.19 times .

Q lastima a no voy a ver esta película porque está en inglés,d todos modos gracias.

The mistake might also lie with the filmmakers, who knew that in B&W nobody would see that the train cars are the wrong color....
I'm just curious. How bad can it be?

I always thought Renee Godfrey was damn attractive in this film, despite the dodgy accent.
