    Hiiii 😆 The #1 problem freelancers face is often how to get clients, especially clients who are a right fit. Hope this video helps! If you have any questions, ask away here :)
    As mentioned in the video, I built this to manage my freelance projects: shop.rachelhow.com/l/notion-freelancer-kit 🌸

    I love how honest you are. Unlike many other youtubers who will tell newbies to just join freelance platforms and they'll get clients instantly. What I'll add on is that, whoever thinks freelancing is easy sorry because you'll encounter some really bad clients. Another thing, make sure you deliver as per your promises. Some clients know how to do the job they're offering only that they're busy with some other stuff.
    continue learning.

      Exactly, most talk about how easy it is to get more views, but the truth is that, especially when you are taking the first steps, it is very difficult. Since I started looking for clients, I only got my first client 3 months later. Having stability at the beginning is also very difficult. I've already taken a very complete sales course specifically for designers that helped me a lot, but it's still difficult and laborious

    Finding freelance clients today IS NOT EASY for most newbies especially if they are selling services like writing, virtual assistance or social media marketing etc. For every one client there would be hundreds of sellers pitching their services. Its a dog eat dog thing and people are selling services for as cheap as 5 dollars. Some of them even are ready to work for weeks for free just to get some work. I wont be surprised to see the so called "freelancers" go back to a full-time 9-5 thing thanks to the toxic and undervalued system freelancing has become thanks to people who really dont understand their self-worth.

    Rachel what's ur take on someone who is inexperienced solopreneur initially to attract clients when all clients want is a person with 2-3 yrs of experience in handling the projects but market is not ready to accept fresher candidates but demand too much ? Is being a generalist a good idea or is it creating the unique value which is important in such a situation.. how can a solopreneur create space for himself in the early days without wasting time...

    • @vasilenatoneva8839
      @vasilenatoneva8839 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As someone not so experienced but one who has observed the market for the past few years while studying design, I believe that bringing something unique is the way to go. Being a generalist just makes you one of the many that can do the job (and some of them would have more experience than you), it is good for working in an agency but not so much for a freelancer. Concentrating your time on specific skills that only a few know, makes you stand out and be known in the community for that specific skill/style. Choosing your "preferred" client, getting familiar with the problems they and their customers meet, and finding and offering a solution is what will win them over.

    Hi Rachel, if ever I follow your suggestion on choosing an app or website online and come up with solutions on how I can possibly improve the problems identified using my design (treating it like a project), will that be okay to include in my portfolio? If yes, What's the best way to label it? Hope to hear your suggestions.

      It's called a case study. If you google web design portfolio, you will see a lot of samples for inspiration.

    Very Insightful.. Did you take any courses specifically for learning UI/UX especially Competitive Research / Analysis?

      I didn't, I learned on the job :) It helps to have peers who you can learn from at work!

    Bit of a silly question but where do you find the time to freelance alongside your full time job…in the evenings and weekends?

    Freelancing is a great way of making income. What market do you approach understanding that a lot of SMB's have tools to do websites now?

    I'm an 'old' and experienced freelancer (with certain skills) and struggle to be as successful as I was in the past. Clients seem to avoid me.

    Hi Rachel! I love your content and am so thankful to your channel 🙏🏼 I took your advice and are working on a redesign of a existing app to be able to showcase more of my skills as a ux designer. Is it ok for me to use the redesign in my upwork portfolio without having to ask for permission from the company? My plan is (as u suggested) to contact them and show my solutions and se what happens and also use it in my portfolio.
    Hugs Josefine
