  • This is the Satking VAST DVBS2800 Satellite Receiver review which shows how to connect to a TV , how to setup , how to use the satellite finder feature, how to use the SATKING IR EYE Extender , how to use a 12 Volt cable for use in the caravan , how to program the remote control to turn the TV on and off and how to record to a USB stick. From our companies perspective , it had a large number of advanced features for use in home and caravan and one of the best VAST boxes on the market.

My parents got one of these in their brand spanking new caravan. Of course they have absolutely no idea what it is, so it's just been sitting there for a year, along with the dish on the caravan. This video was great. I'll go have a play when I have enough energy to explain things in super lamens terms to the pears. Great vid.

Thank you for the informative video . I have one of these STB's and am unable to raise a picture using the Red White Yellow cables . The motorhome is quite old and this is how we bought it so i assume it was working previously . I have tried all options off the "Source/Input" menu with no success . I have re-registered my SmartCard and the roof top dish appears to have found a signal . The message on the TV is "no signal" regardless of which input i select .

Are you sure your TV it set to the AV channel. Try the HDMI cable and HDMI input otherwise. Biggest mistake is the TV is not set properly on the correct channel. TV needs to be set on AV channel not the ATV which would be analogue TV.

I have an old Foxtel dish with 2 sockets. Will this work with this? And what is the second outlet for?

+aussietvone yes it will. It is plug and play as long as the dish is still aligned. Any dish in the last 5 years should be LO:10.7Ghx so yes plug and play

There is only UEC and Satking available for use with VAST in Australia. Both the units have a number of restrictions and in my opinion the Satking is clearly the better unit with more features. This model was discontinued and replaced by the newer and better model with more features around 5 years ago. You can reach out to the Australian government in relation to why they only have two boxes on the market. I am guessing your box died, hopefully you got more than 7 years from your unit.

@@AccessantennasAustralia We also have an "Altech" VAST receiver in the house and they're both completely useless for their intended purpose. Both piss poor quality. Records whatevs at random and only occasionally what you want them to record. Nothing to do with these two but with VAST AT 35,000 kms up, if there is a rain cloud or even a bird (for real) sitting anywhere on the dish, no signal. We now have Starlink (satellites at 550 kms up), which has a much stronger signal (and would probably shake off any birds by itself), and it needs a proper thunderstorm to momentarily drop the signal. People, get a good internet connection of some kind, Fetch TV and ditch VAST entirely. We're in the process of doing exactly that.

@@MatteHatt The Australian government controls VAST so unfortunately everyone is victim to the Australian governments choices regarding TV for remote areas. You can reach out to your local politician and ask them to do something as there is a monopoly currently.

This issue has nothing to do with VAST (useless as it is too when there's a cloud out) it's plainly piss poor product design in both cases. Utter rubbish 🤮. In the words of Roy & HG: "ill conceived, hastily cobbled together joke".
Since we now have Starlink, we'll be getting Fetch TV instead and use IP Streaming to record programs.
