Ok, so I know this is 3 years old, and there is probably little chance, but, an interview with SD Perry would be amazing. I really enjoyed the novels and Trent was such a welcome addition I think would have been great additions to the canon.
I just paused the video at the mention of the SD Perry novels to see if there was anycomments. Those books don't get anywhere near the recognition they deserve. I found all of them thoroughly entertaining and they did a great job of fleshing out the characters and story.
G-Mutant's final form is some genuine horror. Doesn't even look vaguely human anymore. Couldn't possibly figure out on your own that it was ever human. If that thing had escape, imagine what the planet would become.
Claire B is way easier than Claire A for me. On B scenario, you only play as sherry once instead of twice, you don't have to worry about making the vaccine. Also, for some reason, on Claire A, there is an extra licker in the room where you get the cogwheel, and an extra licker on the balcony which leads to the room where you use the crank and the cogwheel. And lickers are much harder to deal with as Claire since the bowgun doesn't stun them long enough. I always let Claire have the sub machine gun since she never gets the magnum + never gets weapon upgrades like Leon does for his 3 weapons!

Out of all things that make Resident Evil 2 what do you think is the key element that makes us love this game so much? The first time I played it in 1999, I played through Leon A and Claire A scenarios and never went back. I had thought that the horror element with mammoth spiders and the like was kind of cheap, compared to more sophisticated horror games like Silent Hill and that it wasn't my style. Same with RE3. But 10 years after, much more mature as a gamer, I gave it another try and ever since I play it very often and I consider it as a gaming masterpiece. That game has something very special that I cannot explain. Is it the four scenarios premise? Claire and Leon characters? The great music, the fact that it's easy and more accesible to a wider audience, the graphics, the pre-rendered backgrounds?
CarcinogenSDA all of the original tank-control resident evils have a horrifying ambiance. The pre-rendered backgrounds help a ton for me. The music and sound effects too, everything comes together to make, if not an overtly scary game, then definitely an uneasy playing experience.
The soundtrack, story and atmosphere of the game is what makes the game a masterpiece. It's my favorite game of all time and definitely look forward to play the remake.
Agree w/ Carci. Although to me, RE1 was always my preferred game over RE2. RE2 felt easier, and the setting and story of the Spencer mansion was just so incredibly creepy, more so than RE2 in my humble opinion. The remake just upped the ante and made it even more profoundly creepy, especially with the Trevor family and everything they went through. Something about RE1's setting felt...tangible. Even though the idea of it being realistic is laughable, there's still something about it that felt plausible. I don't know why.
The way events take place in the original game on Claire A / Leon B is perfect. I really like RE2 Remake, but some things got really bad, like both characters face the same G bosses, in the same places. And Annette dying in two different ways in different scenarios is something very silly, from my point of view. They could have done better in that regard.
Doug Wiseman When the game was created, the idea was that Leon A/Claire B was the easy of the two complete playthroughs. Claire A/Leon B was intended to be harder all together. When I have tried to do my no damage runs, fighting William on the turntable in Leon B is much harder than in Claire B. I generally hate fighting William on the turntable using Leon.

Bought a used PS3 to enjoy playing RE2 and RE3 with the PS4 controller and these games hold up so well. Great job with the commentary as that is really what makes the biggest difference when I follow along while playing. Best RE channel I've seen and I've used your old channel for PS4's RE1 and RE Zero. I also wonder which Dino Crisis is your favorite in comparison to RE2 and Nemesis?

It's interesting to revisit RE2Classic after playing RE2make, seeing how they reimagined rooms and hallways as well as additions. Feels like they made the precinct in RE2make "make sense".

I was always curious about the ammo system that Claire has since she has more versatility than Leon. Which G-Launcher ammo type is more often used as far as exploiting weaknesses of certain enemies such as Zombies or Lickers?
38:17 That hallway is very unfair for the player on the B scenario. If anyone enter this hallway through the other door, there's literally 2 zombies at close quarters, on both sides of the player, hence them get grabbed by one of enemies as soon as the player blast one dead. Even the street after exiting the bus with 6 zombies is more fair because the player has a bit more space, but has to be quick before those zombies close the space.
Listening to Carcinogen list a few of the differences between the JPN and other versions of the game kinda makes me wonder what purposes the changes served. Why change the ranking system, the number of enemies in certain areas, etc etc. It happens in lots of games, and I never understood the purpose.
I think it has to do with Japan's perspective on American gaming. From what I've heard over the years, Japanese versions of games tend to be easier than American varients as developers felt Americans might not enjoy the games if they were 'too easy'. So often American releases are more difficult by either tweaking enemy placements (be it changing enemy locations or adding more of them), item placement differences to make the game feel harder/longer, or make higher ranks more difficult to achieve so players felt more rewarded or had to play stricter to get better ranks (Thus making the game feel more difficult too). Not sure if that's truly the case, but it's simply what I've heard from various people over the years.

After you said the part about the licker being zombies, I thought of the fact that crimson heads didn't exist until the re1 remake soooo..... does this mean RE2 Remake will feature both crimson heads and licker? Imagin how you done a zombie to see him revive as crimson head, done again and revive a second time as a licker. This would make the game much more harder. Well for casual atleast, good old carci will dodge them blind but that's a story for another upload.

i must say i do prefer these resident evil 2s to the remake, i find it odd that both of them do the same puzzles and fight the same bosses except for the final boss as leon, love your gameplay and your explaination of things.
they call him mr x because thats the name given to him by guides, the toys, etc. nowhere in the game does it say the plants are named ivy, only the guides and toys. or the giant spiders are not called spiders, they are web spinners.
I'm assuming you mean the ps1 American version of the game can't get S rank because I know from playing the N64 and GameCube versions I was able to get s rank for a run in under 90 minutes with no saves and minimal health items.
Hey, I’m currently at the super tyrant without any health and only have a sub machine gun, and it is a complete ultimate hitler experience. I don’t know why they didn’t give you at LEAST one health item before the essential part of the game. And I don’t want to restart the entire game again, guess that’s my undoing but re games blind will fuck you over. There has to be a way other than restarting.
resident evil aint just like ever other game but kinda puts me in the mind of the legend of zelda ocarina and majora's mask because those are games you have too put some thinking into unless like running everywhere like you do in sonic the hedgehog 2 and 3 and super mario sunshine
um actually its leon a claire b, leon never meets Mr.X.... Of course this is from the book that this game is based on and in the book leon never meets Mr.X, its only claire who does and she kills Mr.X by cuting him in half with machine gun fire.

I prefer Clarke A/Leon B as my preferred story, but I do like the cut scenes that are exclusive to Claire B.

I think Claire B is the hardest campaign in the game so beating it with no save no damage is as good as it gets in RE2 in my opinion.

Just auto aim on one and walk out the door and then later you can come back in like its the a story..kill them all from the back wall.

i must say i do prefer these resident evil 2s to the remake, i find it odd that both of them do the same puzzles and fight the same bosses except for the final boss as leon, love your gameplay and your explaination of things.
they call him mr x because thats the name given to him by guides, the toys, etc. nowhere in the game does it say the plants are named ivy, only the guides and toys. or the giant spiders are not called spiders, they are web spinners.
I'm assuming you mean the ps1 American version of the game can't get S rank because I know from playing the N64 and GameCube versions I was able to get s rank for a run in under 90 minutes with no saves and minimal health items.
Leon’s one liner is way better
Hey, I’m currently at the super tyrant without any health and only have a sub machine gun, and it is a complete ultimate hitler experience.
I don’t know why they didn’t give you at LEAST one health item before the essential part of the game.
And I don’t want to restart the entire game again, guess that’s my undoing but re games blind will fuck you over.
There has to be a way other than restarting.
resident evil aint just like ever other game but kinda puts me in the mind of the legend of zelda ocarina and majora's mask because those are games you have too put some thinking into unless like running everywhere like you do in sonic the hedgehog 2 and 3 and super mario sunshine

There is no machine gun in RE2.
um actually its leon a claire b, leon never meets Mr.X.... Of course this is from the book that this game is based on and in the book leon never meets Mr.X, its only claire who does and she kills Mr.X by cuting him in half with machine gun fire.

I hated the parts in the remake where you had to play as Ada or Sherry
Mostly Ada's scenario, you are limited on bullets and no first aid spray. I kept messing up trying to avoid the zombies and getting away from Mr. X.
@@Thollis1987 that was the easy part the worst part was that stupid block puzzle for Sherry
@@Kladbishche yeah the block puzzle had me stunned. I found out when you pull the block out the doll, I found out to place it on block 1 and replace it to block 3. But with way both Ada and Sherry's run has increased its challenge.
