Not getting PSN account, never mind linking my Steam account to it! That's utterly crazy talk. Sony can pound sand for all I care. Won't be getting anything else they produce - and I was readying up to buy Ghost of Tsushima when the port releases. Even if I can play that in Single Player without PSN, I don't trust them to change the rules on me, nor do I want to give them even a penny of my money again anyway.
Seems hard to wrap your head around why sony seems so determined to tank their own game. But then again, HD2 enraged the AAA industry by proving a great game doesn’t require a $70+ price tag.
I’m not in a restricted country but I won’t play the game again. It’s unfortunate because I absolutely loved this game but it’s not fair to my fellow Helldivers, I stand with them! If they can’t play then I choose NOT to play. Refund me and sony keep their corporate BS to themselves.
I could easily link my steam and psn. I still have my old one I could dust off and recover the password. But I’d rather fight against corporate bullshit if it leads to knocking any of them down a few pegs. It’s the least I could do after 15 years of all my favorite IP’s being buttfucked.
I left a negative review and uninstalled. I did not refund in the event they walk back but I doubt it. I’m glad we all stand together in our final battle it seems. If this is the last of Helldivers, it was a pleasure serving with my fellow Helldivers 🤘

@@jonny_codphilo7809The UK one has been shown the most, though there are others, and require either the government ID or a full on facial ID biometric scan to set it up
Sony did not mention the amount of countries that doesnt support PSN intentionally to arrowhead. Because Sony needs numbers to show for their investors, and arrowhead wouldve absolutely said no to them if they saw that 177 countries cant do PSN. TLDR, Sony KNEW what they were doing, but had to stay hush for the cash.
Sorry, Bro, he can't, he died last year: Robert John Linder aka Johnny Silverhand (born November 16th, 1988, died August 20th, 2023) This is from the official CP 2020 lore as stated in the _Firestorm - Shockwave_ sourcebook.
Helldivers 2 may had suffered, but we now have a clear visible image to the AAA companies on how fucking tired we are of them. If they STILL don't want to listen, then we will all look into the indies more and more and isolate them all and let them feel what we've felt for a VERY long time.
My friend is actually raging right now because he can't make a PSN account. And yes we are actually from the Philippines. And yes, FUCK SONY!!! Note: My friend can log in the game right now but the servers would automatically kick him out.
It's multiple reasons why this game was sabotaged. 1. If helldivers 2 continued to dominate it was going to reset the gaming market away from the scam pay to win model these other studios went all in with the below average Battle passes/cosmetics , incomplete pre releases ,and the overpricing titles while at the same time they bleed 💰 from the play base stuffing their pockets. 2 not having pvp in hell divers 2 allowed the community to work together basically keeping the cut throat mentality away compared to other pvp communities that can't get on the same page because of the rat race tunnel vision of being no .1 in that community causing a lack of unity. We seen how that unity from the helldivers community got the devs attention quick fast and in a hurry and that's a problem these studios don't want because that's too many people in different countries around the world 🌎 working together for a cause even if it is a video game.3. the inspired knockoff in helldivers 2 is 10 times better than the actual Starship troopers game pretty much making that game worthless. Bascilly In tin foil hat conclusion helldivers 2 came in the door 🚪 and stepped on too many toes while in the process of messing up the churches Money 💰 on the gaming shenanigans gamers are going through with other studios . Let's remember Sony is a umbrella for those other studios also can't to let one that Sony has little investment with to cause other studios that Sony has a bigger investment with to lose money. It's all about protecting the house of cards when you look at the gaming environment
Or maybe this game was artificially pumped with paid PR and bots. Backed by Sony. A greedy company with bad intentions. The game literally has predatory micro transactions. The game exceeded expectations because of their PR campaign so they decided to go one step further and force pc users to join their network. Pc users are now 100 hrs deep and -40$ less. Unable to refund and forced to link their data to their network. No tinfoil hat needed.
They knew , didn't inform people through the game and rely on other sns to communicate with the community at large, Sony just made sure it goes through So more of a 80/20
All we need to have a very strong chance of change us for one or more investors now or during the earnings call to question them and grill them on WTF is going on. That will usually scare them and cause the stock to get a little wobbly and possibly get them to go back on the decision. That is to assume that the shareholders have any common sense or situational awareness and I don’t tend to believe they do.
These changes are disappointing, but I am thankful we even got this game at this rate. Be nice to the devs, they're trying to help the situation. I hope we can reach a positive resolution on this game. Thanks for watching gents.
I believe this could be the greatest contribution of Sony in modern gaming. Even if only a few people realize that they keep paying "Buying" prices for merely renting a game it will be a step in the right direction.
@@CavTanker88 They never published said game, they had only produced the product. Snoy went as far as to changing their wording on their website Just 2 days ago, Not to mention they did this right around the corner of their shareholders meeting which is tomorrow. HAH! Like they actually care about the PC base! Ponies have their head too far up their own arse to give a crap about what the PC gamers are facing from Sony! They ALL defend Sony in this, they say so themselves!! Yours is a nice sentiment, though.
While not excusing the CEO's actions, Sony is the publisher and should have not sold Helldivers 2 in those countries. Sony should have done its own due diligence in acting as the PUBLISHER of said game. Simply selling a game to every country where your "required" services are not present, incentives's people to bypass your terms of service allowing you to ban them while retaining their money, Is not ethical. This issue would have persisted regardless of the CEO's actions. Sony relying on refunds for users not able to create a PSN account is not acceptable

I am willing to defend Arrowhead since they are a extremely small studio, which I am way more forgiving to the CEOs action compared to Snoy (sony new name) Sure Arrowhead is at partial fault, but I am convinced Snoy forced AH studios to do PSN
@@Angelo_Nicolson they aren't owned by sony the just have a publishing contract with hem, they could decide to stop developing HD2 towmorow if they wanted to, unless their contract has a clause for how long they are obligated to support the game, which they probably do.
It feels like this sabotage was intentional. Like the higher ups saw a popular game that was fun, and said "A fun game in 2024? Nah, We need more competitive movie game slop." and decided to sabotage the game so that people couldn't play it and have fun anymore. Because this game, lethal company, palworld, all the recent successes. Have shown gamers that gaming can be fun and it pin pointed exactly what was missing from modern gaming. This is stuff big triple A studios don't want gamers to remember, I think this is why alot of these people try to avoid talking about halo in any discussion and shut it down. because they know if people actually knew how good halo was and how bungie was to the halo community back int he 2000s, they would realize how much better it was back then. The truth is these big studios, they want everything to be a fortnite live service model. One that deceives everyone into thinking its a fair and fun time. but its really a lesser product to what we used to get, that is used as a storefront for cosmetics. which btw, Video game microtransactions are as valuable as NFTs are. Now Compared to halo 3s customization which would always stay with no matter if the servers went offline. This game had the same design philosophy that halo did where fun mattered the most. Any other triple A developer wouldn't have let you shoot shoot limbs off the enemies or down the automaton dropships or let your mech dropship ram into a bile titan and defeat it. (yes that happened to me once. Any other triple A developer would look at that and say "Ummm that breaks balance and competitive, lets patch it out, this game should be static and not have any form of randomness or fun" Just like what 343 did with the tank gun and pelican glitches in infinites campaign. its very sad to see a similar situation happen. sony had their golden goose, they got rid of it now. Just like what Microsoft did to bungie. All I can do is thank helldivers 2 for proving that games need to be focused on fun and that things could be better for gaming, they need to drop the fortnite style stuff. Its getting tiresome.
I have to say. You did a great job summarizing the kerfuffle Sony has caused. Made me realized how much worse this decision's branching consequences will lead to.
One thing though, according to some stuff, where the game sold was up to Sony. So supposedly Sony allowed game to be sold in countries without access to PSN, not Arrowhead. That's just what I've heard anyway.
ArrowHead has spent months uniting a massive playerbase, and Sony managed to piss off every single one of them in under 48 hours I’d almost be impressed if I wasn’t so frustrated
I almost hung up my cape because of not being able to reinforce democracy and saving lady liberty. I’m glad that we won against J.O.E.L’s Superiors. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the frontlines.
@@bam_bino__ Well, the company should simply claim "technical difficulties" then, as if courts would know 2 sheds about game development anyway hence Sony would just lose money in a lawsuit against the developer.
Will players from the countries that had been walled out from buying the game will come back and reconsider buying the game? What is happening is betrayal of customer's trust to the franchise.
How would they have not known? The regions your game can legally be sold seems like a really important detail?? This whole thing screams malice and greed, and I'm not sure I take a word of what the ceo says anymore. I want to love the game, but being betrayed like this kinda hurts, esp when you look at all the garbage weve gotten over the years.
Well, I mean the game blew up beyond anything they had expected, so maybe they weren't worried or even thinking about it so much at launch cause they didn't expect this many people in all those countries to even know the game existed.
I imagine they either planned it from the beginning as a bait and switch, or they saw how many people were playing and thought "O: we can get our numbers up if we make them sign up". Either way they are bastards and deserve to go down
Having published a game with Sony once, they control your steam sales, at least in their standard contract. I couldn't change anything about the steam page even if I wanted to.
This entire reason seems to be forcing people to make a PSN account to psd their numbers and potentially to force PC players to pay for PS+ just to play the game… on a PC.
A reminder that Arrowhead are not blameless in this. They signed on for the deal, were aware of how it'd work, and only made it optional day one when it was not functional.
At this point really none of the main console brands are good anymore Nintendo absolutely hates their fans and doesn't let anything fun be Xbox just has terrible leadership that doesn't allow for good games ansonia does stuff like and Sony does stuff like this and then there is also the third party AAA developers which are even worse

IT IS BANKING LAWS! If your country doesn't submit to USA/ The Central Banking Cartels AML/KYC (Anti Money Laundering - Know Your Customer) Laws, you can't have a PSN Account... we can't have you talking to Russians, Chinese and the bad guys, what if you start thinking they aren't evil? or what if you send $10 across PSN Network to some poor guy in Congo and destroy the scam economy we created for them?
It’s more like 90%. EU law forbids bait-and-switch on EULAs and TOSs like this. It’s completely anti-consumer, and since this is impacting EU countries there WILL be class-action suits, and it WILL cause Sony to lose a ton of money if Sony doubles down like this. Sony has absolutely no clue on what they’re doing. Their leadership is completely senile.
The crazy thing is, if they made is so that; If you sign up for an OPTIONAL PSN account, you get some in game skins and goodies - I bet basically 70% of players would've signed up.
PlayStation 5/5/2024 - 9:30PM PST: Helldivers fans -- we've heard your feedback on the Helldivers 2 account linking update. There is still hope Helldivers!
i REFUSE to believe Arrowhead "Didn't know" how many countries could not have PSN. They absolutely must have know. And now they try to act the good guy to turn the ship against sony when they see how much all this backfired.
I could believe it. Sony is the publisher so they had the distribution rights. For Arrowhead to believe that some users would be locked out of the game, they’d have to assume that Sony knowingly sold to countries that couldn’t comply with Sony’s own policy.
People will claim this is a problem (in countries where PSN is available) yet they’ll be more than happy to play games with Riot Vanguard on their computer and use Google Chrome as their browser. It’s a shit situation but it’s not the end of the world really, I don’t like Sony as much as the next person but I think the double standards here is crazy.
The saddest thing about corporate greed is that this situation is just a speck of dust in the grander schemes in this world itself. Corporations are destroying our real life Earth, and games were suppose to divert our attention but even here corporate greed has come to manifest.
This is too bad. My friend and I were going to buy this game next week but I told him to hold off as soon as I heard the news. Thanks for keeping people informed and I hope to hear more updates in the near future.

I’m not in a restricted country but I won’t play the game again. It’s unfortunate because I absolutely loved this game but it’s not fair to my fellow Helldivers, I stand with them! If they can’t play then I choose NOT to play. Refund me and sony keep their corporate BS to themselves.

In short, Helldivers overstep their place by being the good pro consumer game.

There might be a nugget of wisdom in here somewhere.

Even if they only get 10,000 new signups to the PSN. I get the feeling Sony will consider it a success rather than back down.

While not excusing the CEO's actions,
Sony is the publisher and should have not sold Helldivers 2 in those countries.

One thing though, according to some stuff, where the game sold was up to Sony. So supposedly Sony allowed game to be sold in countries without access to PSN, not Arrowhead. That's just what I've heard anyway.

It's like when a sports player out plays their contract and sits out for a new one.
Sony just announced they will not be requiring linking PSN accounts
A reminder that Arrowhead are not blameless in this. They signed on for the deal, were aware of how it'd work, and only made it optional day one when it was not functional.
