I wonder if he held any resentment for the way Dave Clark always tried to hog the spotlight. Watching a lot of their videos, one would think that Dave was the lead singer!

Especially when he tried to have a comeback singing career and Dave Clark hit him with a civil suit saying he does not have legal rights to use the name DC5 or even sing any DC5 songs. So all the songs that Mike Smith sang and wrote for dc5 he was not allowed to perform! NICE GOING DAVE CLARK! what a greedy bastard!

Agree. Mike was always sad that Dave kept him nearly all of the time on wage. He was not wealthy. Mike told me that apparently it all began when Dave's father opened their Bank account and Dave gave them wages. Sad times. Same with Jingles Sue his Agent they shared a lot but Mike had to pay most of entertainment costs. He should have stood up for himself. I only repeat what ye told me. Such a great talent Voice for Rock n Roll was great snd . Mike was awarded a Scholarship at Royal College of Music Mike chose Football then and was invited to join Spurs juniors. . Mike's Father also played by Ear. Love JillSmith .We had tragedy when our wonderful son James died in the Blue Hole a v dangerous Dive site in Dahab Egypt. Mike wrote on his Epitaph zJames words Dont let Fear stand in the way of your dreams. I miss Jamie so much. Love Jill x

MIKE had a nervous breakdown. He could not believe Dave would not share. Mike was the main talent. Sad times for Mike. He never did recover. X x x

If Mike hadn't died from a spinal injury, then he would have later died from smoking. He himself was a tobacco addict. Smoking also killed Dennis Payton & Rick Huxley.
