Rebuilt my engine and your videos made it so much easier. Replaced the wastegate flapper and bushing. I pressed the bushing out using a bolt and socketd after drilling out the roll pin
How's your engine running, Any problems with it now? How long did it take and what are a few things you learned that you would do differently if you had to do it again?
@evanlebaron9465 everything went well, it's running very good. Catch can is dry and oil usage is solved so far. I had a catless downpipe but put the cat back on because it was smoking too bad. I am using the catless downpipe now and the smoke is gone. I only have 500 miles on it as of now so it's time for the 1st oil change. I replaced the diverter valve after the engine was installed. The bolts were rusted out so that would have been easier with the engine out. Other than that I have no complaints but this isn't my first rebuild either. My advice is take your time, bag and label all bolts and take pictures of wire routing, vacuum lines etc. I oiled my front and rear main seal, then replaced them before I installed the engine because you're not suppose to oil ptfe seals, it destroys them. Make sure your crank pulley isn't worn from the seal as well as the cranks where the rear main rides. Use a torque wrench and mark your bolts as you torque them. Make sure the timing marks are spot on, they can be half a tooth out. Make sure your intake cam is centered in the journal and the exhaust cam is in line with it before bolting the cam tray down. be sure to use anaerobic sealant on the cam tray. That's all the advice I can think of. Double and triple check before you move on. Make a plan, do one thing at a time and never put a bolt in without tightening it.
@evanlebaron9465 naps videos made it easy to make a plan and do it. He has a 2 or 3 part video of removing the engine. It really helps to have someone with that much knowledge, share it with you. I spent an hour getting the engine to mate with the Trans but I got it. Make sure your torque converter is all the way in your transmission before you start reinstalling it. Only use lint free rags, do not use red shop towels, the lint can stop the oil pump up. Do not oil the back side of your bearings, and make sure everything inside the engine is clean, very clean
@evanlebaron9465 the car was apart for 3 weeks, but I worked on it every other or every 3 days. I have 40 to 50 hours in it from start to finish. That's without a lift and a couple hours cleaning exhaust valves and a couple more replacing the wastegate flapper.
lol I just met someone at auto shop in westerville, OH who could not sing your praises enough. She said you drove from Indiana to Columbus, OH to do her water pump in the middle of the night... for only $900!!
Hello, why does all 4 cylinders read 90psi compression? and then cylinder 2 has misfire with all new plugs and coils. DTC reads cylinder 2 misfire with knock sensor code also says U0100 lost communication with ecm. Any ideas?
Hey man you should try a budget rebuild engine/car that’s tuned. Always have found Frankenstein cars super entertaining. Seeing what people can do with so little is always incredible
Former Audi tech as well only 3yrs tho so def not a master. Any easy way to check for bent valves when you know you have a stretched timing chain or failed tensioner without doing the timing job or pulling the head? Also is there a way to check rear main seal without separation? Thanks great videos! Helps me remember jobs and have confidence!
Interesting to see you with both hands working lol.. great video!! Hope you continue with sharing this style of commentary with cam tray removal, betting on #3 exhaust rocker broken .. did leak down show pressure loss through the exhaust? I’m gonna be doing this in a few days with buddies car that needs WP, and he wants valve inspected / media blasted… great timing on this video 👍🏻👍🏻
have a dead cylinder after installing fresh cylinder head checked timing did the whole sparkplugs coils bit still get cylinder 3 misfire ordered a injector and injector reseal kit hoping that solves it
Hey Naptown Tuner, we live in Portland Oregon and it rains a lot, whenever there is a big downpour water gets on to the floor mat! What is the problem? The AC drain is ok it drips a lot of condensation. 2012 Audi A4 wagon
2012 audi a4 2.0 / 2014 audi q5 2.0 , Im trying to build a good motor out of the 2 , trying to find out if the blocks are the same , if any you would know ,love watching your vid , very interesting ! thanks
Can you do a video on a 2.0T timing chain and tensioner change with engine in car and not in service position if possible!? I’d rather do my chain without removing the engine if I could
Good video. Even if you have done one or two like it before, this point of view and the camera views/angles are different. DIYers need as much info as possible and will look at many of the same kinds of videos even if they are all done by you. Can't have too many videos!
Can you please do a video on p192700 aux coolant pump relay open circuit nobody has any videos or useful info on Google I’m not getting power to pump already replaced the pump and tested the relay not sure what else to do please help thanks 2011 A4 avant
Thought experiment. 2.0 tfsi stretched timing chain. Borescope showed clean pistons and couldn’t see any impacts. Did the timing job but before I put back together, is the head bad? Rotates fine. I did a hand crank compression test so I didn’t have to put it back together to find out if a valve is bent. I got 57,70,62,51. I’m not as strong as a starter but this seems to be a good indication the valves are sealing . Do you agree?
Hey naptown! I have been having a strange ac issue on start up the ac goes through all the settings before settling. Just changed the blower motor not sure if that may be my issue.
Good morning. Do you have a reference for a paste that is resistant to diesel/diesel to put on a threaded connection (Permatex, Loctite, etc.)? Thanks in advance ------------- Bonjour. Avez-vous une référence de pâte qui résiste au gasoil/diesel pour mettre sur un raccord fileté (Permatex, Loctite...)? Merci par avance
Hey naptown tuner I love how you work reminds me of me when I was a younger man I got a question which I hope you can put some light on I’m almost certain there’s some Audi 2.0 engine with direct and port injection could this manifold be retrofitted to say more modern tfsi engines I wanna know will it fit and can I trick the computer or engine management to run it this idea is to eliminate carbon build up in the ports what do ya think
No this won't work, there is no port injection I know of and the ecu would never run port injection. The ecu would never deliver enough fuel because the injector pulse is set for gdi. If you swap the entire engine and ecu anything is possible but I see no way a gdi engine will run port Injection without rewriting the fuel maps, and fuel pressure spec
Could you do a video on symptoms of clogged catalytic converter? Been chasing rough idle white smoke out the exhaust/ sputtering only after driving for a while. Check engine light on and off intermittently. Thinking it’s the build up of cat clogged. Got a misfire cylinder 4. Done spark plugs, Pcv valve, Diverter valve. Is this what you see when cat is clogged?
Naptown - my 2013 Q5 2.0 is shaking in low idle. I replaced the spark plugs and the PCV. Still shaking. There’s oil on the spark plugs. Do you think it will be leaky piston rings causing misfires?
I just threw a new motor in my car runs good been running the past two weeks, transmission is acting wonky and I’m looking to sell 2014 Audi a5 2.0T Stage 2 tuned by Integrating Engineering. Please get back with me
I've got a few questions regarding the 2.0t Caeb engine. Just completed a rebuild on mine for the oil consumption but I'm getting a noise like a clatter noise from the driver side of the engine when revving up to 2k rpm. Nothing on idle tho
The torque spec I found on Audizine for the intake manifold is 9 N*m. This is equal to 6.6 ft*lbs. Hope this helps someone. Feel free to correct if wrong.
Hello i’m having a problem with my 2011 audi a4, it’s misfiring and losing power when accelerating. I changed the spark plugs and it ran great for a few days but then back to misfiring and flashing engine light. I’ve bought pcv valve diaphragm and valve cover gasket, but I don’t think this will fix it, have you experienced anything like this?
Hey brother, I have a A4 2.0 TFSI 2009 with a weird jolt problem. It happens when I've come to a complete stop in D1 then when I lift my foot of the brake it jolts forward until it gets power to move. All other gear changes are fine. Also the RPM fluctuates quite a lot when I take my foot off the gas pedal and I'm driving at highway speeds. Its worse on start up but when I drive it for a while it fades away. Any ideas?
Stretched timing chains can cause long crank. Cam adaptation in live data should be -4 or less (0). -4 degrees reflects a tensioner at the end of its travel limit. Make sure it's the adaptation pid your looking at
I have long cranks on my 2.0T with "warm starts". I do get an "Idle too rich error code". I believe leaky fuel injectors is the culprit. Have the parts - just need to muster up the resolve to do the job.
I have an audi a4 2009 2.0 TFSI. My engine light will never go off 😩 Can anyone help me ? Very good of you to shoot footage of the engine outside the engine bay. Makes it easier to understand the relative positions of things.

Excellent video Sir.
Every time I see these videos with blown engines it makes me worry again.....
Balance shaft and chain tensioners seem to be the most problematic also heard oil pump
Balance usually only gives probs if an oil pressure prob can cause the whole engine to go boom
I have a 2011 a4 that intermittently doesn't start unless I remove the oil cap? Any suggestions?? Great videos!!!

Having trouble with a p0001 code with a epc light on display. Just asking what possible causes thanks
I have leak oil in top of manifold, i dont know the reason i have changed pcv. But i still see oil comming out
Can u make a video showing the location of a starter for a 2015 audi a4??? Thanks in advance!!! @Naptowntuner
a little off the topic but vw 2.0l ccta , do they have oil screens in the block near the main journals,if so where are the locations

I wish the A3 had the oil filter on top. The plastic housing sucks. I think I would sonicate the injectors while I had them out.

Swap coil 4 with coil 2 and see if the misfire moves to that cylinder. Make sure the coils are plugged in all the way
is that support beam nessecery

Hi, is 5w30 a good option for a remapped 2.0t?
Naptown, could you do a video on replacing Tsfi fuel filters on A5 B8.5 and 2016 Q5 (B8). Please and thanks bro! I know you have some quick hacks
@NaptownTuner I Have a 2014 Audi A4 I am getting a code P195000 can you make a video on what to look for/how to fix it?

I've got a few questions regarding the 2.0t Caeb engine. Just completed a rebuild on mine for the oil consumption but I'm getting a noise like a clatter noise from the driver side of the engine when revving up to 2k rpm. Nothing on idle tho
Sounds like the valve rockers are not getting proper lubication. I suggest an engine oil flush treatment with the next oil change.
I have already tried an engine flush and oil change. Still is making alot of noise
The torque spec I found on Audizine for the intake manifold is 9 N*m. This is equal to 6.6 ft*lbs. Hope this helps someone. Feel free to correct if wrong.
You’ve never done any videos on manual gear box

in these cases we usually proceed with the replacement of the clutch pack + mechatronic reconstruction with the Audi kit
