The character that plays Beard had been in a stage production that was "remarkably similar" to Peanuts ( but not the Peanuts because they couldn't afford the rights). He played the Pigpen character and hula-hooped to represent the cloud of dust that constantly surrounds Pigpen. Until this episode, he never thought he'd use THAT skill again!
The muscular guy chasing Beard is being called “Roid Kent” by fans

This is based on a Martin Scorsese film After Hours. I’ve been to a fancy London club with a friend who worked for a model agency . Got chatted up by a much older gentleman who literally asked me where I studied. I said Queens. He thought i meant Queens College, actually it was Queens Comprehensive 😂😂

Going back an episode, you get a nice insight into how much Beard cares for Ted, but also how much Ted was closed off about his dad's death.... lemme explain
In an earlier episode of this season (maybe ep2), Beard asks Ted why he's against therapy and Ted explains how he felt outnumbered when he and Michelle did couples' therapy. Beard asks something like "and that's the ONLY time you've gone to therapy..?.", knowing full well the trauma Ted was dealing with from his father's suixide. It was a surprise to Beard that he hadn't sought out therapy to deal with his dad's death, and his concern shows in just a few lines of dialogue.
I missed that part! I expect Ted or his mom had mentioned the death of his father to beard years before.
Good one again. Just some context on the episode, when you say "it's been a good break from the show", that's sort of what it was. The writers and producers had already laid out the full season 2 and were in production when Apple TV, based on the success of season one, ordered up two more episodes. Unable to really just add two more shows into the storyline that was already set, they came up with this one and the Christmas episode that are stand alones. They're unconnected to the story arc for the season. Some people don't like that, and a lot of people didn't like this episode for that reason, but I agree with you, thought it was a good one.
Rewatching this I really like it. Future episodes give it even more context.
