We’ve only ever used TGATB and we love it! We are devout Christians who heavily govern what comes into our house and lives and just have not had a problem with this curriculum. Yes, Jenny Phillips is a member of LDS, but the curriculum is not. It is not an LDS (or Mormon) based curriculum. The creator is. That’s different. Aside from a sentence here and there about God, which is very general and simple, there has been nothing else. It’s about teaching math and language arts, etc. I wasn’t looking for a religious curriculum. We do that part on our own. If you have a problem supporting someone who is a member of LDS by buying something they make, then you should really spend more time looking at every food, clothing, and household item company and not buy 95% of what you probably buy. We love the curriculum and think it is very well done! Let’s trust Steph, and any other Christian, that they’re always in prayer and using discernment when making decisions for their home and especially their children. And definitely don’t hold definitive opinions on something if you haven’t used or fully explored something yourself.
Well said! We have used it for 4 years and have never seen anything that bothered me. If I did I would just skip it because I'm mom and we can do that! Hahaha
I needed to come across this comment today. I just had to leave a "Christian" homeschool group just because I made mention of TGTB curriculum and how it has blessed our family. We came from Abeka and switched several years ago and I have wondered how so many people could find anything wrong with TGTB curriculum, but they try to!
i would love to see what a day looks like in your homeschool! We just started the good and the beautiful this year for my son and its been so amazing! His growth has been incredible!
Yes, listen to your mother’s heart and find what works for your family and routine…it’s different for everyone! We have 4 kiddos graduated from college with honors and gainfully employed. We used several different curriculums until we found the right one for our family. I think you’re doing a fantastic job with mothering and raising your little family. ❤
Jenny Phelps has a panel of many people with lots of different religions backgrounds that have helped her to create this amazing curriculum. Just wanted to add that because I didn’t fully explain that on my last comment.
📖 We are starting year 5 of TGTB! We love it! We have completed all four years of history, language arts levels preschool through 6, many science units, and I have never found anything that contradicted my Christian faith. ❤
That’s wonderful! It seems that a lot of the people who speak harshly of it have never actually used the curriculum. However, it’s so important to always keep a watchful eye and make sure our children are learning the truth (no matter what curriculum we choose). ❤️
@thisgoldenhour oh my goodness, my husband and I are starting a “homeschool co-op” this year as well!!! How exciting!!! Congratulations and God bless!!!!
I use The Good and the Beautiful too and my kids love it! TGTB has really brightened up our school days and relaxed it at the same time and I am so grateful for this curriculum:) Your little homeschool group sounds like a wonderful time!!
We homeschool, too! I love what it has done for our family. We just started during the pandemic so going into our fourth year here. I also worked at the school. I enjoyed my job, but that season has passed. Our twins are officially high school this year. Every year home has been a bit different as they learn and grow. The flexibility is amazing! Neither really want to go back to traditional schooling. I always laugh when I think about that because it is considered "traditional", but has only been a thing for the last hundred or so years. Anyway, happy homeschooling to everyone! I wish more people would give it a go!
I'm a homeschooling mom of 7. My baby is starting 9th grade this fall! I only have 2 children left in school. Your advice is spot on... learn with them and be flexible. What works this year in this season may not in the next. What works for this child may not for another. And make learning fun!
So much great information ❤ I homeschool my children and I know how confronting it can be finding all the materials you need. It gets easier and I met so many amazing people. The boys learned so much. They all work for themselves now and so creative. ❤
Thank you so much! I've been longing to find a way to start our homeschooling in a way that we would all love so much we could look forward to doing it together! I'm excited now! Hope is so good. 😁❤
I'm a long time homeschooler but this video is the first time I have looked into The Good and Beautiful and WOW, these are the most visually captivating curriculum ever. I think my daughter would love this! Yes on the color and captivating pics will draw her in.
Thank you for this video! I want to try The Good and Beautiful with my children this school year, and it was nice seeing your review. And also your journey.
Hi Steph! I’m a homeschooling mom. I’ve just switched to The Good and the Beautiful last year for my youngest 3. I absolutely LOVE it! My children have really enjoyed it as well. I’ve been really pleased to know they’re expanding their curriculum to high school.
This video TRULY helped a LOT, thank you. ❤ Sometimes, all of this Homeschool stuff can really seem overwhelming. I was considering using this particular curriculum and had heard of the other before and this REALLY helped!!! 😊
We started the K prep first a couple weeks ago with my 5 year old. It’s adorable. We will move on to the kindergarten book after. I found the kindergarten book to be too advanced for her. We also love the little hearts and hands science and are doing it now ❤
Thank you Steph for sharing. My daughter is homeschooling her littles this year, I homeschooled them growing up. She is using The Good and the Beautiful. I know this will encourage her so much. Please share your DITL homeschool video. 📖
We’re starting the kindergarten material this fall, but began the reading program a few weeks ago and my four year old is already reading!! So excited to continue with this beautiful curriculum!
Our story is sooo similar. Used Abeka and was totally stressed and then switched to TGATB and found so much peace! We add things in here and there and double up on lessons sometimes to make it work for each kid but it’s been fantastic
Hi Tabitha! I just started following you on your channels. My family and I are traditional catholics and we homeschool as well. Every year I hear about the TGATB, however I second guess it since sometimes Protestant curriculums can deviate from what we are trying to teach out kids faith wise. Not sure I’m making sense but I guess my question is do you have a video regarding this curriculum from a Catholic perspective and if not, would you mind making one? Thank you!
@@Grecia.R I don’t have a video about it but I absolutely love this curriculum. There is no doctrine in it whatsoever. I use a Catholic catechism and of course we live our lives liturgical as to integrate our Catholic faith
I'm a homeschooling mom of 3, we used TGATB for the past two years, and it has some great artwork and poetry, and we liked the open and go of it, but my kids and I were really not enjoying school with it, we have just switched to Masterbooks, my daughter who's 8 already loves it, she used it a little last year too and I noticed how much more she enjoyed it then too, you mentioned TGATB having bible verses throughout? That must ne new, we didn't see that at all, Masterbooks seems to have a lot more bible stories and verses in it, so we really love that. Thanks for sharing what you're using. Glad you found something that works well for you!!

Loved this and hearing your story! I’m a homeschooling mama too! I always love to hear what others use too. We’ve used TGATB and have enjoyed their curriculum. I have been considering Abeka for my kiddos now that they are older. Thanks for sharing this! Can’t wait to hear more about your homeschooling journey too!📖
When I started homeschooling I started with the Abeka academy and yes it was hours of boring old videos that my kids hated. Then we tried the hood and the beautiful and the illustrations were gorgeous!! But way to much fluff and games and added stuff kids don’t need. It was to much going on. Then we switched to master books and loved it’s simplicity and 1 page a day 🙌 but they didn’t explain things well, so we switched to Saxon which was more advanced than what we’re using so we switched to Bob Jones, which was to much like public school books, so we switched to Singapore, Christian light, lifepac, and horizon. And that’s where we are now and really enjoying them. Live and learn
I just came across your video! Thank you for sharing. We are going into our third year of homeschooling with our 8 year old and now my 5 year old will be starting kindergarten! We have decided to go with TGTB for LA and science. We did try LA previously for my former first grader but we weren’t really feeling it 😅 but it was the previous version. Now we will be using the new version for second level. I choose to print at home so I really like how the curriculum are free if you go that option of printing yourself. For our Math we will be trying math with confidence this year and for our geography we went with Around the world from Beautiful feet. Already excited for this new learning year and will be starting by the end of this month! Hope everyone has a great starting year 😊
WOW I need friends like yours. Great video. I was the same as you when it came to homeschooling. I reluctantly did it bc I had to due to certain circumstances, the first 2 years I felt like a failure until I found TGTB and it has sparked such a passion within me. I love homeschooling sooo much now! ❤️
Been waiting for this video!! We homeschool as well, this will be our 4th year and I way prefer it over sending my littles away! My biggest struggle would be trying to find something for my 3 year old to do and also figuring out how to divide my time between my 3 that seem to need my help all at the same time! I have 3 to homeschool this year! My oldest son is going to be starting grade 5, my daughter grade 2 and my 2nd daughter kindergarten so we shall see how it goes!! We do The Good and the Beautiful for Language Arts and we absolutely Love it!
That’s wonderful! I started sitting down one on one with them and kind of doing it one at a time instead of everyone needing attention at once. It seems to take about the same amount of time and their little love tanks get filled in the process. Obviously this won’t work long term, but has worked really well in these young grades 😊
I homeschool my kids separately and the other two play together while I work with one at a time, that's what we did with TGATB the past two years, however, we switched to Masterbooks and it's a lot more independent work, where my 3rd grader doesn't need help from me, the have a lesson on Monday we work together on, and then the other 3 or 4 days they can do the work on their own, once they are reading well.
My three year old is doing a two to three year old curriculum from Blossom and Root that is very simple and fun and keeps her busy. Something to look into ❤️
I love your video!! I love your positive attitude! I'm encouraged to possibly start our own mom support group. That is what I desire. We are part of a little co op and do like that, but there is really nothing of a support group. I've been home schooling for about sixteen years now But I think every mom needs encouragement and support.😅
this is our first year homeschooling. my kids are in finishing up level 2 and 3. we kinda went fast though being from public school i leveled down from what it said just in case. they'll be starting a new level Monday. I'll have a K joining in Aug though. :)
We use TGATB and LOVE it! I am a Christian and have not seen anything that goes against the core values of what I believe! My daughter loves it especially the math , and my 4 year old is so excited to start the preschool curriculum in a few weeks 😊
Do you believe that Mormon, Seventh day Adventist and Jehovah Witnesses are Christian faiths? They do sadly and that is the message being sent to your kids in using it. Secular curriculum would be safer in that way.
Hello and thank you so much for this wonderfully informative video. I'm trying to work out which level to start with. We've done a slower start with Waldorf curriculum. Which level did you start your eldest with when you started the good and the beautiful? Thanks so much.
3 years of TGATB my son had no growth in writing. It was beautiful and good, absolutely. But not for us! He is not interested in art and poetry but more Science oriented. Now I am following his interestsm
My son is the same. I skip a lot of the whimsical stuff in TGTB or else lose his attention. Would you mind sharing what curriculum you're using for your more science minded son?
We actually went the other way. I started last year with TGTB and it didn't work for us at all. We switched to abeka. Abeka (parent led & adapted to fit our homeschool) is what we switched to and it's been wonderful. It's great how many curriculum options are out there for each family to choose from😊 -Sarah
I homeschooled my kiddos who are now adults. My son went to school through second grade, and it just never was a good fit for him. My daughter has always been homeschooled. We had a similar first year at home--good but not great. I slowly found my way and ended up loving it as well!!
Your so beautiful. Iam home my kids when then were in high school. My Granddaughter loves with me since birth . She did not want to go to high school so I home schooled her. Graduated last yr. All other grand kids went to public. The other kids haven't started school yet . Hoping they will not have to. The schools are not good teaching awful things.
So great to hear of someone else in a similar situation! I’ll be homeschooling 2 high schoolers and a 1st grader this year; our first year using TG&TB language arts and history - I’m excited for it!
I'm new to your channel and so glad to have found you! We've used TGTB the past couple of years and loved them! I haven't exactly finalized what we're doing this year. 😅haha
I am newly getting into homeschooling. My son is in 5th grade right now (working on getting him out and to homeschool). He scored high on placement test for level 5.. should I start him on level 6? Also would you suggest starting your year January 1 or off the public school calendar? (Obviously that is more opinion)
We are going into year 5 of TGTB. We love it! My sister works in Children's Ministry and she also homeschools with TGTB. I think a lot of people who talk negatively about have never used it. Use what works for your family! My children have thrived using it! ❤
Many don't need to use it to know we would be using a curriculum labeled Christian but created by those who add to doctrine in a false religion. It is very sad but I can't confuse my children by using it. 😔
Hey Steph, Do you by any chance know if this curriculum is targeted to the United States or world wide? I tried looking on their website but couldn’t see any specifics, just that they do do international shipping. I guess History would be the main difference for most countries. Maybe I just answered my own question haha. Any feedback would be welcomed tho 💜
The math levels teach US dollars and coins. Also metric and US measurements. There's a TH-cam mom from Canada who just switches out the US money for Canadian money to make it work for them.
My experience has been that it’s targeted to the US, but we have not done their History yet. From the samples on their website it looks pretty heavily US geared though 😊
Hello! We've used all their products under 8th grade so far. The science and handwriting would be a safe bet no matter the country, and math does teach U.S. currency but devotes equal time to U.S. measures and the metric system. The most challenging from an international perspective would be Language Arts and History. You would need to substitute your own country's history but it could be doable by skipping or skimming certain sets of lessons, as most of the U.S. history seems concentrated in certain units of each year. The Language Arts is amazing but not sure if you would need to teach a different spelling set (British spelling?) where you are. The reading and spelling are so heavily integrated, if so it would be a lot of work to try and substitute while using. The free downloads of math and LA on their website could help. They also have extensive samples of all the other products. Happy homeschooling!
I could say how i ended up homeschooling and the crying experiences would be verbatim! I was homeschooled and loved it, but had zero desire to homeschool. One whole year of tears and he was never going back. As for TGTB being LDS comments, i think it's not mean for people to point that out. It's very important information for some homeschoolers, so they should know!
This could not have come at a better time! I’m currently pregnant with my second and my daughter is ready for school! 😢 I have always wanted to home school but I was not prepared for how overwhelmed I have felt!
I can totally relate to this as I was where you’re at a couple years back. TGATB was so great because it’s simple to use yet you can feel confident you’re child is getting exactly what they need. The simplicity of it allows you to add things in seasons where you have more capacity but stick to the basics in seasons where you need more breathing room (like postpartum). If I could just encourage you that you don’t have to have it all figured out right now! Just take the next step. You got this mama! God bless you and your family 💜
You can do it, sweet mama! I can well relate to the overwhelmed feeling. Take it one year at a time and Learn with her. At such an early age they really don’t need much!
I do find their science curriculums to be a bit young and never held my kids attention. I think for younger grades it would be great, after gr 5, personally I find it young. (but that being said I haven't done them all)
I love TGATB but my daughter has dyslexia, dyspraxia and dysgraphia. She moves much faster through a digital curriculum. Sad to let TGATB, it’s just not a fit for my 8 yr old’s needs.
I just love you I would love to smile as much as you have your specialty in kitchen. My hubbys a chief in a assisted living home. I love to be more like you. I Thank God for my family and friends I need to be more like him as well. Nothing to really upset you. But iam sure you do get up set.
📖 more content please!!!!!! This timing is His perfect plan. I would appreciate thoughts and prayers as we are trying to make a decision to send back to public school vs homeschooling our 4 kiddos.
I know this is older video but I just saw this. This is my 3rd year homeschooling. I have now a 7th grader, 6th grader and 4th grader and I have not found anything in TGTB that really sets me off. I skip over parts that I feel are not what I want us to focus on as is my right and my kids are loving the curriculum so far.
Wow it was so funny to hear you say you weren’t enjoying homeschool til you switched to The Good & the Beautiful 😅 we’ve been exactly the same! And my oldest 2 are entering the same grades as you’re oldest 2 😅 would love to see a day in the life as well ❤
I’m 72-year-old grandma homeschooling my nine-year-old granddaughter. it has been a struggle for us past two years. This year I am going to be using TGATB. I watched many reviews before I went with the program and I have great hopes that this year will be much better.
📖Loved this video! I am so excited to use The Good & the Beautiful this year. If you have fully done your research The creator of this curriculum has used many people from all different kids of religions. She does not use any doctrine in her curriculum but teaches of Christ and high moral character. She uses lots of Bible verses in her curriculum as well. Mormons do not call themselves Mormons but members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They believe in Jesus Christ and call themselves Christians. They also use and read the Bible. Don’t want to offend anyone but Just wanted to clear that up. 😊❤️
Respectfully, LDS members are not Christians. I have several LDS family members and their view of Jesus Christ is VASTLY different than the biblical Jesus. Their bibles cherry pick verses out that don’t align with the Book of Mormon. Financially supporting a company that operates under “non denominational” but speaks to a God that is very very different is troubling. I realize it’s beautiful, robust and affordable but we are sending a message to TGTB that they are Christian when they are not. Disappointed to see them recommended here.
Kimberly, thank you for saying all the words in my mind…in such an appropriate/tactful & truthful way. The long conversation of why mormons do not have Jesus in his right place (yet use his name as a groupie), boils down to why TGATB is not a good fit for us.
Kimberly, this is exactly my issue too! As well as teaching my child we are using a "Christian" curriculum only to have them confused as it is a Mormon creator, and multiple other cults involved that claim to be Christian. I just can't especially with the scripture 1 Corinthians 5:11.
New sub here. That is awesome that y’all love TGATB. We love their science units so much. I also have a channel mainly about homeschooling and happy to be able to connect here 😊

We love TGATB. Going on year 4 with it. 😊
My 4 daughters love TGTB!!
We use a combo of TGAB, Memoria Press, and Classical Academic Press
Yes, this is exactly what I'm planning on doing this year! Excited to see how it'll work for us ❤
I homeschool my kids separately and the other two play together while I work with one at a time, that's what we did with TGATB the past two years, however, we switched to Masterbooks and it's a lot more independent work, where my 3rd grader doesn't need help from me, the have a lesson on Monday we work together on, and then the other 3 or 4 days they can do the work on their own, once they are reading well.
My three year old is doing a two to three year old curriculum from Blossom and Root that is very simple and fun and keeps her busy. Something to look into ❤️
We’re planning on using the good and beautiful this year 😊
My daughters are thriving. We love TGATB.
I have an 8th & 11th grader. I have used MANY curriculums & always come back to TGTB in some way or another.
I love your video!! I love your positive attitude! I'm encouraged to possibly start our own mom support group. That is what I desire. We are part of a little co op and do like that, but there is really nothing of a support group. I've been home schooling for about sixteen years now But I think every mom needs encouragement and support.😅
We did two years of tgatb and it’s not for us . The only thing I re ordered from then is the handwriting book .
This was so honest and SO helpful. Thank you so much!! ❤
📖 can’t wait to hear more!
I've used TGTB for many years and while not every product has been a good fit for us I love the language arts.
this is our first year homeschooling. my kids are in finishing up level 2 and 3. we kinda went fast though being from public school i leveled down from what it said just in case. they'll be starting a new level Monday.
We did mammals as well! It’s been a lot of fun!
Hello and thank you so much for this wonderfully informative video.
I'm trying to work out which level to start with. We've done a slower start with Waldorf curriculum. Which level did you start your eldest with when you started the good and the beautiful? Thanks so much.
Thanks for sharing 😊 we're about to start our second year so love hearing other people's experiences
How exciting! I hope you have the best year ever 🥰
TG&TB new little hearts science i highly recommend 😍 we love Wind & Waves and the Space curriculum so good!
Keep homeschool content coming! 📖
We are absolutely loving TGTB as well!!
So fun 🤩
Thanks for the art for kids tip 👏
We actually went the other way. I started last year with TGTB and it didn't work for us at all. We switched to abeka. Abeka (parent led & adapted to fit our homeschool) is what we switched to and it's been wonderful. It's great how many curriculum options are out there for each family to choose from😊 -Sarah
I homeschooled my kiddos who are now adults. My son went to school through second grade, and it just never was a good fit for him. My daughter has always been homeschooled. We had a similar first year at home--good but not great. I slowly found my way and ended up loving it as well!!
That’s beautiful, Laurie ❤️
This was SO helpful! Thank you! :)
We have really enjoyed TGTB, my Highschoolers are now doing their Language Arts courses! And I’m starting the kindergarten curriculum this year. 💕
How fun! I hope you have the BEST year 🥰
So great to hear of someone else in a similar situation!
So true! It’s been such a blessing to our family too 😊
Many don't need to use it to know we would be using a curriculum labeled Christian but created by those who add to doctrine in a false religion.
Oh of cause! Thanks so much for replying 🙏🏽💜
What do they use the dice for in Language Arts? I will be teaching 4th this year and purchased TGTB for the first time this year.
I'm very thankful for this video! 😊
Thanks for being here ❤️
Good luck this year with your homeschooling ❤
Thank you, Jody ❤️
Hi , unrelated but where did you get that adorable top?!❤
Thank you for this!
I have taught homeschool since 1989 and I have 4 more years left before I can say Im done with homeschooling. Yes, we have used A Beka since 1989!
That’s incredible!!!! Way to go 🥰
I could say how i ended up homeschooling and the crying experiences would be verbatim!
Where do you buy your dresses?!?!
I want them all lol
You are so kind! The majority of them are from Neuflora 😊
Loved this video thank you
Thanks for being here ❤️
We love the good and the beautiful curriculum!
So fun!
We love TGATB!!!!!
Would love more ❤️
I do find their science curriculums to be a bit young and never held my kids attention. I think for younger grades it would be great, after gr 5, personally I find it young. (but that being said I haven't done them all)
📖📚love to see more homeschooling ideas ect
Thank you❤️
I would love to purchase their curriculum for my little girls homeschooling, but I'm not able to afford any of it at the moment! But it looks amazing.
@breanas_mommy You might now be aware that the digital version of their K-8 Language Arts curriculum is completely free. Anyone can access it.
It free online
Their math is also free.
Praying for you, sweet mama ❤️ take it one year at a time and learn with them! It doesn’t have to be complicated 😉
@@thisgoldenhour thank you for your sweet encouragement! ♥️
Where is your blouse from?
Neuflora 😊
Wow it was so funny to hear you say you weren’t enjoying homeschool til you switched to The Good & the Beautiful 😅 we’ve been exactly the same! And my oldest 2 are entering the same grades as you’re oldest 2 😅 would love to see a day in the life as well ❤
I’m 72-year-old grandma homeschooling my nine-year-old granddaughter. it has been a struggle for us past two years. This year I am going to be using TGATB. I watched many reviews before I went with the program and I have great hopes that this year will be much better.
Love watching your video. We started like you with Abeka Academy and ended up with Good and beautiful and we are in Love ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I hope you have the best year 🥰
You too!!!
Don’t want to offend anyone but Just
wanted to clear that up.
📖 definitely:)
Thanks for sharing your story. It sounds identical to our story 😢
I hope you have the BEST year ❤️
Pa unschoolers here! We ❤️❤️❤️ it
Aww yay! So nice to meet you 🥰
New sub here. That is awesome that y’all love TGATB. We love their science units so much. I also have a channel mainly about homeschooling and happy to be able to connect here 😊
📖 more videos, please
Goodness your school experience sounds like mine! Fellow competitive mama here. 😂
