  • Visionary Director Guillermo del Toro shares stories from ‘Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio’, 'Cronos', 'The Shape of Water', ‘Nightmare Alley’, 'Pan's Labyrinth' and ‘Hellboy’ in this career spanning discussion moderated by Joe Neumaier. Guillermo shares special advice for actors and performers, based on his experience working with some of the best in the business and his extensive study of film history.
The Business panels provide multiple viewpoints from directors, producers, writers, agents, managers, casting directors and industry experts on a wide range of topics. Through this program, actors receive first-hand tips and strategies from established creators, emerging voices and industry professionals who know how to navigate the often complex waters of the entertainment world.
The views expressed in the presentation materials and films, and by the guests and moderators are solely those of the organization and/or individual providing them and do not reflect the opinions of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, its staff or Board of Directors.

Guillermo is an absolute treasure. I've seen probably 40+ interviews with him, and not once has he disappointed. He needs a podcast, he's such an amazing and hilarious storyteller

    “I didn’t see a monster. I saw a saint.”
Del Toro remains one of the most interesting interviewees.

He certainly reached me with his version of Pinocchio. I cried like a baby at 68 years old. God Bless.

There’s no filmmaker as knowledgeable about Cinema and Storytelling as Don Guillermo del Toro. No me canso de escucharlo.

17:00 “the biography of my soul is much more interesting than the biography of my body” indeed. If only some filmmakers had heard this earlier

If I were a rich man, a benevolent Elon Musk, I'd give Guillermo a billion dollars to make an HP Lovecraft trilogy. All I'd want in return would be to let me watch him make them.

He wouldn't need anywhere near that much money. I think it was he who said that such a limitless budget is a death sentence for an artist.

    Behind the scenes of Hellboy...
    GDT:. Cut! Perfecto! Uno mas!
Jeffrey Tambor:. If perfecto, why uno mas?
GDT: Because it could be mas perfecto!

When you don't want a conversation to stop, that's when you know you really like someone. I was looking at that damn red bar at the bottom of this video like it was the last thing I wanted to happen!

Few filmmakers understand the medium as well as this guy. Always a pleasure listen to his insights. Orgullo para el mundo, no solo para México.

i think the actor who Guillermo refers as the one he read 60 pages of a new script with in new york is Oscar Isaac for a new Frankentein adaptation.
