Due to health issues, I have been thinking a lot about life, especially what I can write for my children to help them live their own lives. I have been looking for a modern philosopher that I shared similar views with, and it turns out it's been Guillermo Del Toro this whole time. He says so many great things in this interview.
Guillermo del Toro's thoughts and philosophies on fatherhood, especially in Pinocchio, are so illuminating to me as a person who looks forward to being a parent. I feel like I will take many of them with me as I age. Especially the concepts of disobedience as liberation, and the differences between fairy tales that serve as domestication and fairy tales that serve as liberation. Great interview! Thank you to BFI and Guillermo del Toro for this wonderful hour out of my day.
Love this interview. As a storyteller and comic book creator, I strive for emotional connection between my characters and the reader. One thing AI does not contain is the human element ie human emotional connection. Those who use it in literature or in my field comic books, is that they want to leave out the human connection while stealing from human artists scraping their lives work and passion to create more trash devoid of human emotion and creativity.
*The value of art is not how much it costs and how little effort it requires.* *It's how much you would you risk to be in its presence.* *How much would people pay for those screensavers are they going to make them cry? Because they lost a son a mother because they misspend their youth.*
@BFI thanks for sharing this discussion but it would be immensively useful if you guys can timestamp this video into the various topics. Can it be done?
I love that whoever was bleeping the “fucks” was obviously enthralled with Guillermo’s take on AI that they missed one. Fucking perfect.
'Ai has demonstrated it can make semi-compelling screen savers' Love this!
I'm heavily invested in the Mexican Silicon Valley.
He's wrong AI art can look seriously amazing!!
@@ghosthunter7496 He said exactly like what you said, it can look amazing... as a screensaver.
@@TheCreativeNick Or as a painting on the wall, or as concept art for a videogame and much, much more.

Pathetic. To hell with AI "art."
This man is a hero of mine. Always great to hear him speak and glad he’s looking healthier

Bravo, great talk. AI is pure regurgitated trash.
Thanks for sharing this amazing talk.
Del Toro is one of my favorite directors. Please give us a stop-motion feature film in the Pacific Rim universe!
This is exactly why he's the freaking Goat
