    CORRECTION - Just talked to Raj at MRC and he told me the stock MRC pump is actually very energy efficient and draws less power than the Abyzz. I was thinking back to the Reef Flo Hammerheads and the like, but he said his custom pumps are quite different than those.

    Thank you very much to Abyzz for sponsoring this video. They are by far my favorite pump and the needlewheel skimmer modification did not disappoint!

    I love my mrc pro skimmer! I just had them design and install a full tank and life support system last month.

      Lots of titanium. Grade 5 titanium parts cost a fortune but I appreciate all of it.

    I just want to point out how amazing the camera work is. Than looks like he’s standing in front of a green screen when standing amongst the tanks at the end there. I know that’s just cause he’s a master at lighting and such. Great video Than!

    I could read your eyes when you said Substantial when talking around the price tag. It was the look of “it broke me a little but F it we gonna do it right” and of course you probably have the last word in bragging rights if a skimmer flex comes up between you and fellow farm owners! I expect nothing less at this point Than! The ride has been so enjoyable to watch brother! Glad I could be here from the start. You have so much to be thankful for this year. Maybe someday I will have extra funds to be able to help support yall

      For sure. The farm is doing well. I am slowly upgrading gear whenever I can.

    I like hearing about the physics behind skimmers. Also… you should do a video on the different kinds of pumps. Cause all of that is Greek to me.

    I have a Pro 2 skimmer. Looking to add ozone generator to my system. Do you just replace the air line from the air intake tube. And run your ozone line directly to the aspirator?

    • @tidalgardens
      @tidalgardens  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you may want to try a tee and have valves to be able to adjust the air flow from the ozone vs the regular air source.

  • @tstanley01
    @tstanley01 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    His concerns about ozone are ill-informed...they have done study after study...basically the point at which it will cause irritation are much higher than your ability to smell it...basically, if you can't smell it you are fine...sterility?! I'd love to see how they tested that one...

    • @tidalgardens
      @tidalgardens  ปีที่แล้ว

      The studies were concerned with ozone as a pollutant not aquarium exposure - www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1392229/

    • @RB-Raj
      @RB-Raj ปีที่แล้ว

      Sterility applied to baby boys, none of which are at the farm..unless Than is hiding something from us! Dogs and cats are affected before humans too. But these are factors for home use, rather than commercial settings. Most home systems aren't strong enough to do much damage, but precaution still should be taken (it's easy to do it right, so why not?).
      But you could certainly smell the ozone and if you can smell it, you're being affected by it for sure.
      What we work off of is the exposure limit of 0.1 ppm averaged over an 8-hour day. This is why things like ambient ozone monitors/alarms and destruct units exist. Proper handling of O3 is critical when dealing with large scale systems using commercial grade ozone equipment in confined spaces.

    • @tstanley01
      @tstanley01 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RB-Raj Yea, commercial is different where you have to worry about litigation and OSHA. They use to sale ozone generators as air fresheners in the 90s and 2000s (still do actually, just looked them up on Home Depot)...they are strong and it would knock you over when you walked inside because people would run them so high...when we were kids we would crank them up on high and stick our faces in them to hear the humming and smell it...everyone I knew that had them were smokers, so they were trying to get rid of the smell...it didn't work, their houses just smelled like smoke and ozone LOL...we never had any issues with them, but most people switched over to hydroxyl generators because they don't have that smell, or quit smoking...

    • @RB-Raj
      @RB-Raj ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@tstanley01 HAHA, oh man, it's a good thing what we did as kids isn't a gauge for a good idea now! I can barely believe I survived half the stuff we did.
