We often took each others items when they fell, and in the area where the ceiling falls I always nearly get crushed due to my love of giving the other player a bob omb. It was really fun.

I would strongly recommend making a video of the multiplayer minigames of New Super Mario Bros. Four players is ideal, but two and three will also do (especially because eight of the minigames only work with two players).

Why do you try so hard to avoid blue shells? I get that you like the fire flower, but the blue shell is the only power up you avoided. The mini mushroom is the only bad one, yet you grabbed that a few times. As useful as fireballs are, they can't power down and kill your opponent like the shell can. If you have trouble shell dashing and controlling the shell, you need more practice.
not the person you're asking (obviously), and this comment is quite old, but personally when I play with my friend there's numerous reasons why we dislike the blue shell for this mode. -While spinning in the shell you move slower than running, and using star power does not increase this speed -It is harder to run while holding a bomb/shell without accidentally destroying it -It is difficult to slide/crouch jump with momentum without actually spinning in the shell -It can mess up your wall jumps if you go into the shell right before It's got a couple of decent uses, but in this mode you usually want to prioritize the manoeuvrability and speed, which the shell is not as good for
