This mode needs to be ported or remade for modern console with more stages, powerups, music, characters and maybe a sprinkle of some mario fanservice like Paper Mario, Mario RPG. But most importantly to have it be local and online multiplayer. If we can get Mario Vs. Luigi and Friends, I would pay good money for this to happen

Back then, my best friend and I just hanging around in the snow world, don't even cared for the stars and just did stupid things like jumping on bullet bills with the mini mushrooms and called them "travel office". Or destroid blocks to build an arena where we fight each other with someone wearing a blue shell :D
THIS is a Super Mario Bros. Battle Mode done RIGHT! This needs to be its own thing with up to four players at once! I would totally pay for a Deluxe version of this mode!

If that is SOMEHOW too bland, add tons more characters that all have unique perks! EXAMPLE: Mario - 2x Damage with Koopa Shells (whenever you get hit, drop down 2 levels) Luigi - Higher Jumps Peach - Float (like in SMB2) Daisy - Summon a Flower Barrier which protects you from 2 attacks. Wario - When running, damage a player if you run into them. (like a tackle) Waluigi - Throw 3 Bob-Ombs around you. Each detonate after 5 seconds. Blue Toad - Run Faster Toadette - Give yourself a Super Mushroom Rosalina - Send a Luma that can go through walls. Targets the closest player. Does 1 Damage if player is hit. Ehh? Ehhhhhh?
My friend Gavin and I both like to play this game on occasion competitively against one another. There was one instance back in the summer of 2020 where we were in a pretty tense game. He was very focused on wanting to win the game, as usual. What you gotta know is that Gavin was attempting to speedrun through the game competitively. My efforts however was focussed on the PVP aspect. Gavin had years of experience, so whenever I beat him pretty badly, he would get a reasonably upset. Getting back to the story, at the end of the game, Gavin was so pissed off, that he threw his DS, meaning to landed in the grass, but it *slammed* into a metal umbrella pole, making his DS completely unfunctional. Every now and again to this day we still play the game, although his parents aren't really a huge fan of the game because of how it makes us act. It probably doesn't help that I taunt him in this game, LOL.
Just got into the MvL comp scene. It’s crazy bro. I had to practice my air shots and shell shots. It’s just a shame that MvsL central is filled with Girth Client users. ;( Anyway, this video was a great example on how to counter certain plays. Really appreciated this video and hopefully I can participate in the next cash tournament!

As far as I remember, this usually is not complete without the Goombas, Koopa Troopas and possibly even Bob-Ombs which will explode shortly after you jump on them.
When I was a little kid playing NSMB on my brothers DSi, I would always wonder about Mario vs. Luigi because at the time we didn't really have another DS or DSi and I selected either Mario or Luigi as my character and just sat there on my bed waiting for someone to finally pick up a signal so we could play. So, Mario vs. Luigi mode felt really mysterious to me as a kid.
Ideas for a remake of this gamemode: 1. More players, like 4-6. 2. Online multiplayer. 3. Maybe a competitive ranking system? 4. More maps, bigger maps. 5. Just hd graphics I guess. It's fine the way it is though. Edit; 6. More balanced powerup pool with more powerups.
I hope someone sees this, but Ykno how there’s enemies on mostly all courses? And Ykno how you’re able to get a starman? Well I’ve been able to kill like a few enemies in the first Course, and I realized that for every enemy I killed, the sound effect escalates, like how it would sound when you’re playing a normal 1 player game after collecting a starman So I thought to myself, is it possible to obtain a 1-up after killing 8 enemies in the 1v1 mode? So I went to the first course and played with my brother to find out At first I wasn’t able to kill all enemies because of the obstacles that prevented me to run at full speed like the pipes and the stairs, so we used the giant mushroom to destroy any and every possible obstacle so there would be nothing but flat land, I even made the star spawn at a place where it’d be impossible to reach without an obstacle or a boost Now I’m able to restart over and over since the enemies are able to respawn without having to constantly collect another new star I’ve tried for over an hour to kill enemies as fast as I could to see if I could kill 8 total, but sometimes when I made 1 lap around the map, some of the enemies weren’t able to spawn yet, so I’ve always only been able to kill 5-6 enemies, and it takes 8 kills to get a 1 up Now I’m realizing that it’s possible that I’m going way too fast to the point where the enemies wouldn’t have enough time to respawn, or if I went backwards after finishing 1 lap, there’s a chance that the enemies will spawn quicker right after I get back to starting point and immediately dash backwards It seems kinda stupid and maybe even pointless to try out but I was just curious if it was possible, I’m not sure if anyone else would wanna try out my theory, but I know that I would at least like to try it again another day to see if it would work :p

I agree, but it needs to have some good online though. Mario Maker 2 versus was awful.

This game this game it was not just my first super mariooo game it was my first game and so many hours of playing so many battles multyplaywr so many times the same level so many.....I keeep playing today after 10 years
This is the only multiplayer Mario game where the screen doesn't freeze for a few frames when someone gets hurt or powers up.

I remember playing this with my sister. Giga mario was always funniest thing to use even it causes death also blue shell because I loved how you can move with it
Would have taken this all day over the co-op that they gave the Wii version.
