  • My house burned down and I'm going to build a new one. I built the previous house and intend to build the new one again. I will do everything myself, so if you want to see how a house is built, join me. I will also build all the furniture as well as the kitchen, stairs, yes everything. Please subscribe to my channel if you want to come along on this journey. If you like the video, please press the like button, it helps me to reach out.
In this video, I build the entire foundation from scratch. We will dig, cast and brick. We make our own concrete and mortar and build everything by hand

I'm 32 and not very handy, but I have a fascination with carpentry. I'm half swedish and all the men in my family on that side from my grandparents age and older were all carpenters from Varmland and Vastmandland. I feel a calling to this profession and skill, but I feel too old to start. Building your own house has to be the most gratifying thing ever. I remember watching my grandfather build a deck for our pool when I was a little boy, and while everyone else's decks fell apart over the years, ours looked exactly the same 20 years later.

I am a carpenter, and I built the Welch stick chair where I am sitting now typing this comment. We carpenters do all sort of things, from a wooden spoon for the kitchen to an entire house like this guy is doing in the video. I would say all carpentry starts with two tables: a drafting table and a work table (workbench). Carpentry is already in your DNA, all you need is an small table in your garage to start with all the fun!

I build my own house a couple of years ago. It fallows the regulation for a 0 energy house. I have 440mm insulation i floors, 400mm in walls (same construction as you with the moisture barrier inside the insulation) and 600mm in selling.
Question here in DK we haft to have the house pressure tested to se if the barrier is air tight. Do you have the save rules in Sweden?

Here in the UK, when we place rebar in concrete, the lengths of rebar overlap by a minimum of 40 times it's diameter. So 1/4" rebar overlaps minimum 10". We also let the concrete company know what the concrete is for, because concrete with rebar has a higher ratio of cement. But I don't know the ratios for the different concretes, that's done at the concrete supplier.

How much was the material cost bricks, concrete, gravel, geotextile cloth for this foundation for this 88 KVM house? I want to compare with contractor for the cost and see if excavator work is better done by contractor. Also how much was renting the big excavator, soil compactor etc? How to find the sand like you went somewhere with car and just brought it? Tried looking for prices in the excel but I think prices are only for upper wooden house or I don't know if I missed something :)

HOly smokes that is crazy impressive!! How many foundations had you built before this? Looks like a super pro job! I'll keep watching the rest of the series!

I'd definitely be wearing hearing protection operating that rock-breaker. You mentioned you have kids - one day you might have grandkids, and it'd be a shame if you can't hear them tell you they love you because you ruined your hearing with industrial noise and no earmuffs.

I am really envious of you and your skills. Huge respect for starting over and rocking that house after such devastating fire, you are a hero. Here, houses are way too expensive, imagine a normal used house ca.100m² costs around 450 000€... if I had your skills I'd do it myself...damn... Thubs up from me!

What was the long stick with the laser for when measuring the concrete? Also how do you know how much bubbles to get out of the concrete using the little vibrator?

I guess I dnt understand why you have to rent an excavator and break up boulders to build a new house where one already stood. Did the fire destroy the foundation?

Just finished watching from start to finish ,absolutely blown away by your skills, knowledge, and determination, after such a terrible fire, you have inspired a lot of people, myself included, i am new to the you tube experience etc, please tell me how i can acquire your drawings, i have subscribed, but that's all i know with my basic PC skills. we are about to embark on a project very similar, and watching yourself, and your wife, has given us even more determination.
Hats off to you on a great job, and great watch on you tube, thankyou.
