Also, it's great to see your fiance working on the house as well; there's nothing that works better than this kind of work on a big project to solidify a relationship. It's basically used to measure the comapction of the soil - the one in the video is used to measure the dynamic elastic modulus which can be directly corelated with soil stiffness so that you can be sure that soil was compacted enough to do concrete work. So in a way yes, it measures soil density.
Thanks for posting this. I'm close to start building my own home and is always good to have these kind of references. Much appreciated the background music selection!
Hi, Great job you did there with your wife! I'm Amazed on how skillful you both are. Just q quick questing assuming you are building in Croatia. What is the code for foundation depth there? I saw geologic engineer did tested the pressure of the surface after digging but I'm curious if there is any strict code there or you need to pass the geological tests only. I'm building a house here in Bulgaria and the constructor wanted me to go 1.4m depth without any geological tests or smth since he wanted to be on the safe side which I found fine. Had to ask the contractor company that do the initial job to dig deeper then the initial project and we added some bottom concrete to fill the 40cm deeper that the constructor required. I'm just curious how things goes in Croatia on foundation topic since we have similar climate zone in Europe.
Hi, Thank you! Here you have to go below the freezing depth, which is 90 cm here if I remember correctly. When all the site work will be completed, the depth of these foundations will be around one meter deep. In the project, i had a choice to add some bottom concrete or 30 cm of compacted gravel underneath the foundation.
Greetings from France ! It's a really beautiful video, I really like how neat and proper the differents steps have been made ! I am very interested to know more about how things are done in Croatia. Did you have make a geotechnical/ground/engineering study to come with your foundation + slab solution ?
In most parts of the US .this would be overkill for a residential foundation. Probably good reason for it. Maybe soil isn't as good as it seems. For a timber frame Probably overkill.
Great video. Have 3 questions. What is the need for the soil after excavating. The name of the machine you used in checking the soil The lemon coloured board retained after concrete
we remived 30 cm of clay with not so good properties and put in gravel sand with good compacting properties. Machine is called deflectometer and it measures level of compaction. Boards are three layered spruce form work panels from "lip bohinj".
Hello Steve:) The pipes are installed thru the corner of the house, You can see them at 9:26. I was on short 4 days vacation and my father installed them when I was away so I didn't film it unfortunately..
Our building permit just got approved last month. we are getting foundation done sometime during spring. Tedious beaurocracy process, but we're finally done with it :D
Fascinating build of your foundation in Croatia - very well engineered. I look forward to watching the build. I'm curious about the spread of building techniques from one country to another. For example, would your local building control officer ever agree to something like FastFoot, that seems widely used in the USA th-cam.com/video/okizuEjhbjE/w-d-xo.html. I'm in the UK, and have not seen it here yet. Just wondering what your take is on something like that? The reason I ask the question is because you had to put a lot of effort in, I'm just curious if something like Fast Foot could speed things up....if acceptable to building control.
Thats what I was thinking!! I got funny looks for putting three #5 bars in my footer lol.. They said it was overkill... I will have to show them this...
I would say techniques and materials are a bit different than typical american house. For example, just the central wall will be more than 18 tons and we are in highly seismically active region so foundations have to be strong.
Glad you find it interesting. As for the underfloor heating, first we heave to put on a layer of water insulation, then a layer of xps and eps, then pipes will be positioned on top of it and will be covered with dry screed. We will probably go with epoxy floor on top of it all..
This is fantastic work , very professional and strong slab, it wouldhave been nice telling how long it took to build this slab, and maybe some kind of other music , like Vangelis or somerhing like that or enya. Never the less keep up the good job ,hope to c more like this.

Highly engaging, and the sound effects are priceless. (Oh, wait--those *are* the actual sounds!)
:) sound effects worthy of an Oscar ;D
Thanks for posting this. I'm close to start building my own home and is always good to have these kind of references. Much appreciated the background music selection!
Thank you Nicolas! I'm glad you like the music selection;)

❤❤❤❤❤ i love the way you take care of the materials .
Amazing quality build, very impressive!!!
Thank you Rick! :D
The music was a nice touch. Beautiful well orchestrated job!
Awesome! Good luck on the rest of the project, I will gladly subscribe and follow along as things start taking shape!
Amazing channel, with really talented woodworkers. Success and blessings for your new house!
Congratulations, I'm pretty sure it won't be an ordinary house.
I'm looking for another episode.
I hope it will stand out in the neighborhood:)
Grga, Matea, svaka vam čast :) Puno sam naučio iz ovog videa. Hvala :) Pozdrav od Zrinke i Marina
:) Hvala vam, svratite kada god zelite, tu smo vise manje svaki dan.. Pozdrav!
And “she” wins “BEST HAT” award handsdown!
yup:)
Haaaaaay, congratulations. Very exciting.
Greetings from France ! It's a really beautiful video, I really like how neat and proper the differents steps have been made !
I am very interested to know more about how things are done in Croatia. Did you have make a geotechnical/ground/engineering study to come with your foundation + slab solution ?
Bonjour la France
Now THIS is a foundation! 👍🏾
Wow! Amazing video as always, I can't wait to see how this house progresses. Based on your previous content I have a feeling it will be spectacular :)
I just know it will look quite different than the neighboring houses.. Glad you like the project Chris! :)
Can’t wait to get my family out of this 2bedroom pooper I live in few more years of saving and I’m going to go for this thank you 🙏
Waiting for pt 2
will come soon :)
Still waiting for PT 2 ??
very strong construction😮.it is so good.
Glad you approve!:)
In most parts of the US .this would be overkill for a residential foundation. Probably good reason for it. Maybe soil isn't as good as it seems. For a timber frame Probably overkill.
Ain’t helping wid them tornados 🌪 then is it
@@strictlybusiness734 in most parts of the US. You don't have to worry about that.
@Goran Bencic yep. Maybe in places like Florida where they build with masonry blocks it would be needed.
Thank you for taking me out, beyond classroom theories.
What size of reinforcement rebars was used in the foundation of this building? And how many centimeters is the distance between the stirrups?
Well I definitely enjoyed watching that. On to part 2
Great video. Have 3 questions.
What is the need for the soil after excavating.
The name of the machine you used in checking the soil
The lemon coloured board retained after concrete
we remived 30 cm of clay with not so good properties and put in gravel sand with good compacting properties. Machine is called deflectometer and it measures level of compaction. Boards are three layered spruce form work panels from "lip bohinj".
the best build foudation I ever watched on you tube.love it.very strong and good made.
Glad you like it!:)
I did notice any plumbing. How will put piping through the floor for incoming potable water and out going sewage?
I notice the same thing ,surley he has a plan .
Congratulations!:) I know what you went through.. Good luck!
In Croatia we never heard or see that. Also when we build a family houses we usually build without permission. We legalize later.
@@zeljkomikulicic4378 Kako mislite da se u Hrvatskoj gradi bez dozvole ?
@@marailinovic1550 HAHAHAHAHHA , klasika, pola istre ilegalno izgradeno
Hvala puno!
Holy smokes that was a ton of reinforcement!! You building a sky scrapper on top of that!!
I'll say you started building your house. YOU are really building your house!
That was the plan since I was around 5 years old :D
Lignum, you’re amazing dude.
its going to be a great build - best of luck with it and best of wishes to you and your Fiance
Much appreciated! Thank you Peter:)
Beautifully produced video. Subbed, pt2 awaits me.
@@lignumchannel , nisam vidio, sad vidim.
Now that is how you build a solid foundation!!!
I sure hope they are🙂
Good jobs building
Fantastic! Can’t wait to see how this turns out!
Me too Daniel :D Glad you like it!
th-cam.com/video/QRe0wIaThtk/w-d-xo.html
amzing work ..these are the best professional worker i have ever seen.
Very cool to see how building techniques differ. Surprised that in floor heating pipes were not put in.
Glad you find it interesting. As for the underfloor heating, first we heave to put on a layer of water insulation, then a layer of xps and eps, then pipes will be positioned on top of it and will be covered with dry screed. We will probably go with epoxy floor on top of it all..
@@lignumchannel that makes sense, look forward to seeing it done
That’s not going anywhere 💪
That's cool, congrats! Looking forward to this serie!
thank you very much :D
Great... We liked and enjoyed to the end. Thanks Have a happy day! Keep it up! +thumb up3!
This is fantastic work , very professional and strong slab, it wouldhave been nice telling how long it took to build this slab, and maybe some kind of other music , like Vangelis or somerhing like that or enya. Never the less keep up the good job ,hope to c more like this.
Oh man I'm gonna love this series
Thank you Robert! I hope you will:)
I love it!
But that foundation/footer-- My guess:
1) You live next to a nuclear test site
2) Your uncle owns the concrete plant
3) Your other uncle owns the steel plant
Enough rebar for a subdivision here in the US Lol
Yay! I’m excited for you.
Yay lots!!
thank you!:)
