These videos have been awesome! Started following your channel because I myself purchased a Pixel 7a and really like it and your camera comparisons are some of the best I've seen! Keep the good content coming man! New Sub btw
Steven, I absolutely LOVE how you review Pixels (particularly the 7a) from a photographer/videography perspective. I'm only a hobbyist, but the camera is one of the primary reasons that I choose my phones, and I just downgraded from the Pixel 6 Pro (which takes darn good pics but the connectivity is HORRIBLE) to the Pixel 7a, and I am just as pleased with the 7a as I have been with all other Pixels I've owned (Original, the P4, and the P6Pro). I most appreciate how you approach these types of review with an open mind, without allowing a bias for either iOS or Android creep in. PLEASE...keep up the great work!!!
@@ZuiverAirTechnologies Sometimes I stand a foot or two away from the subject and then use the 2x zoom on the 7a to reframe tighten up the focus, which also...sometimes...creates a nice boneh effect. Other times I'll just use the main lens and Portrait mode.
I'm a pixel guy and still use my 5, will probably upgrade to the 8. But...I think googles image processing has got softer over the years. Used to have a more HDR detailed look that I preferred. I find the front camera especially on my pixel softer than older pixel models I have and less detailed. The images from the 7a look similar. Almost like there is skin smoothing or beautification going on even when turned off.
Bingo! Upgraded from pixel 2xl to pixel 6. Well I am disappointed to say the least. My pixel 2xl is sharp and gives better results as compared to pixel 6 which is soft in comparison.
No. The wife has the 7a and its images are over processed. The Pro features are very limited meaning you really have to put up with what you get, whereas the iPhone gives you a lot more data to play with and you also have a more natural looking image.

Pixel wins for me. I'm actually rather disappointed with the iPhone 14 Pro's cameras (I preferred 13 Pro). So I just got a Pixel 7a and I'm very happy. The only downside with Pixel 7a is video recording in low light - not one phone does it really well, but iPhone 14 Pro does better than Pixel 7a in this regard.
2:14 *Iphone is blowing out the highlights.* Pixel's HDR is dope especially in photos. Those dual exposure HDR sliders and temp sliders make it more fun.
With the portrait mode the iPhone can actually adjust photos taken in portrait mode later on. Different blur, even disabling it. But it cannot make a portrait photo from something that never has been portrait...
I know it's a little late but a very good review, I don't know if you could tell me about the photos at night where the rays of neon and LED light hit the faces and good photos don't come out. On iPhone I know it doesn't happen much but on other brands it does. So I don't know if this pixel 7a handles the rays of lights well like in bars and doesn't cover faces.
In my opinion these are small differences on camera come on people ya want a big difference on photo quality get ya a 5,000 dollar digital camera with expensive lenses
The big difference in photos for Iphone is that it shows alot more clarity and details, it must be way more megapixels. The difference at 6:38 in details is huge
This is just very aggressive sharpening being applied here, not true details. It looks fake and terrible IMO. I prefer the less software sharpening in the Pixel photo. If you like over processed look to photos, it is easy to apply sharpening, but impossible to take it off an image.
Yes it gets hot but nothing crazy from my experience that affected its performance. Though I might be living in not so hot climate, but I faced no problem.

The HDR ON THE PIXEL IS UNBELIEVABLE 2:20
The software before was much more aggressive in hdr Now it is very subtle wanting to do more embellishment than it really is.
The red glow behind the images makes the comparison a tad bit harder. It's easier to compare completely still frames of photos.
