I LOVE Charles Bronson! But my heart goes out to his first wife; the fact she was good enough to support Charlie during his days as a struggling actor really says a lot about her character. Women like that are rare (especially these days!)
He was in alot of tv westerns early in his career alongside jack elam , jame collbern, and clint eastwood on rawhide, he paid his dues and made it. Good for him !
I always appreciate Charles Bronson as a military man who got his arm shot as a tail gunner on a B-29 bomber over Guam during WW2. I know you made a lot of movies and was married to Jill Ireland.....but the fact that you served America when needed means more to me. Thanks Charlie
How can anyone not admire, respect or love Charles Bronson? A poor, American immigrant's child who worked hard in claustraphophic mines, then graduated and went on to fought for his country and became War Hero, then became a TV star, who then became a Movie Star! Charles Bronson, thank you Sir!!!!!
Hey I'm 47 too..i started to became fan of him in the early 80's(as pursued by my father) and thanks to this wonderful great video life story tribute to Bronson!
I'm also 47 & I've been a fan since I was a child. My grandfather & Bronson shared military barracks, in the U.K., back in WW2. They weren't friends, but they knew each other & would say hello. My grandpa said "Chuck was always working out/lifting weights". I grew up watching his movies (often with my grandpa) back in the 1970s-80s. In the 1990s my GF & I would rent Bronson movies (from Blockbuster) & get a pizza, once per month. I called it "Bronsonfest". I used to have nearly all of Bronson's movies on VHS, but they're gone now. (& I no longer have a VCR) I do have quite a few of his movies on my PC. (mp4, avi, etc) My favorite Bronson movies are Hard Times, Death Wish, Death Hunt, The Evil That Men Do, Chato's Land, the White Buffalo, Red Sun, The Stone Killer....and more.
As a teenager in the 70's I waited anxiously for every movie that Bronson was in. I was never let down. He had an everyman quality that I really liked.
Charles Bronson my hero of the screen. When i was 14yrs old Charles was becoming a real superstar establishing himself and getting better movie parts until he was the main star . I always got excited when he brought out a new film because you new what you where in for. Today iam 60yrs old . That Star quality has gone and well missed. Thank you Jerry Skinner . Love your presentation and accent.
A great actor and an even better human being. A true rags to riches story and life he had. RIP Charles. Thank you Jerry for this amazing story of his life.
Your storytelling is amazing. Such respect on telling the story of a life. No judgments...just facts told in such a wonderful manner. Thank you for all that you do.
What I remember most about Charles Bronson is you couldn't hold him hostage. He had a knack of getting out of any situation. You couldn't trap him. He was impossible to hold down. I really like this man. The movies I've seen of him were great. There's many other movies I haven't seen that I would like to see. Charles Bronson had a magnetism about him that drew you to him. I would like to see more of him.
I almost wish I hadn't seen this. The end was too harsh. He was a good, caring, man. And yet he was one of the best "bad ass" actors ever known! I'm going to remember Charles Bronson with that smile of his and that twinkle in his eyes. RIP - Charles Bronson
Thank you for a wonderful documentary. Once upon a time in the west changed my life. I used to watch it over and over at movie theares in Paris France when I was a teenager. He will always be in my memories. And from the same movie, his quote, "you brought 2 too many". My next most favorite movie of his was "Hard times" which I still watch scenes from on TH-cam.God bless.
One of my all time favorite actors. Death Hunt is in the top three favorites for me. A talented artist, hard worker, WW2 Vet; combat, wonderful father, husband and overall human being. He makes me strive to be a better man. Thank you for posting this.
i love it when people who have nothing, can rise to world admiration, and give all that love to so many children ,he will always be my favourite actor R.I.P CHARLES
Him and my grandpa grew up together and were best friends. Him, my grandfather, and my grandmas brother lived in an apartment together for awhile. The were all from Johnstown or southfork pa or something like that. Yeah super broke....my grandpa grew up poor too. Went to ww2, was awarded 5 bronze stars and 2 silver stars for valor. Raided Normandy...Was one of the first Americans to see the consentration camps.
Yes, My favorite fight movie. He was great. I dont know anybody else who could of done a better got than him. Not just the fight scenes, but his personality fit the role perfectly.
I hope to God this movie is never forgotten. It is just so good. And Bronson was in his 50s if I recall then ... looking so good back when steroids wasn't even a thing ... if they cast it now he would look like The Hulk ... and the whole thing would fall apart. That was a movie about True Grit, not about easy and obvious, heaven-sent mastery like today's movies.
One thing about Charles Bronson in an acting role, rather starring or down in the totem pole, you would always remember him. He just always stood out. The camera loved him, his attitude and a certain look he had. Loved him!
Wow its 2018 and i am juat finding out he passed. I am 34 years old but remember watching his movies with my grandpa who didnt speak english but couldnt get enough of his action movies. Great actor

Charles Bronson was a must see actor for me when I was a young man. I saw most of his movies. The one aspect that endeared him was his earthy real background, he was a real tough guy. There were no silver spoons for him. He did it by his own two hands and wits. Also he wasn't involved in sandal, drugs, and was a very much a family man. All Respect for him!

I was giggling about it to myself when I noticed a man staring at me. I knew who he was immediately. I mumbled something, embarrassed, and skied off with my friend as she went by. As you would expect, he never said a word, never smiled, just stared that Bronson stare. Although he wasn’t that tall, he was very intimidating!

Once again, Jerry, you did another great man justice. Charlie Bronson was one of my favorite actors of all time. It did my heart good to hear what a great man he was BEHIND the camera, too. Thank you for your continuing efforts in telling these people's stories. God bless.
As a youngster in early 1970s I never wanted to miss a Charles Bronson movie even though I didn't know and was starting to learn, the English language. It was amazing! I thank you for bringing back those memories 👏
Wonderful and very touchy, heartfelt documentary. Thank you so much for shedding some light on this incredible actor's life story as well as his family.
I actually "met" Charles Bronson up in Vt in the late 70s. I had no idea he lived up there. I went to open the door of a shop...but the door opened before I could grab the knob...and there was Charles Bronson looking down at me! The shocked look on my face made him smile! He was wearing a red bandana around his head, and he drove a beat up red pickup. Just a regular guy....sort of. Jill was gorgeous, and Charlie always had a gruff but handsome look, imho. RIP Charlie. You did good!
In the mid-to late ‘70, I was a waitress in a Central Valley town, in California. Working the graveyard shift, I also got breakfast. This brand new black Corvette pulled up out front. The gentleman came in, sat at the counter & ordered breakfast(don’t remember what it was). If it wasn’t Mr. Bronson, it was his EXACT double. Back then, comparatively, food wasn’t much. He was quiet. I let him have his space. He paid his bill & left. I was cleaning up his setting and under the plate he had left me a $5 tip! Back then, that was A LOT. Will never forget that. ❤️
I love listening to you tell the life stories of the actors my parents grew up with. They are gone now, but I know they would love your channel as much as I do! Thank you for all you do! May God bless you and your family 🙏
Very nice tribute to Bronson. We all liked the characters he played. The dedication to Jill Ireland by stopping making movies was really something special.
Mr. Skinner. Your dedication to document the lives of these actors as they lived has been a joy to watch. Without your commitment to research and to share these videos we would never had known the struggles and victory of their lives. I sincerely hope someday someone will present a document on your life as well. You deserve to be remembered as a friend of Hollywood's greatest actors. God bless you real good my friend.
@@terencedenman702 I enjoy the commentary but ,yes, I’ve heard several inaccuracies in them. Minor points I guess, but still. In Death Wish for example, it was his daughter’s rape and his wife’s murder that he sought to avenge.
So many of these Hollywood people now days make's me sick and throw up. All of these old timers like Charles Bronson and Jill Irland etc... will be honored and remembered. And thank you for the many years of great entertainment and rest in peace Charles Bronson and Jill.

Thanks for tis information. Charles was on of my dad's favorite actors. I remember as a young child dad would let me stay up late to watch his movie. It was popular to have a personal electric grill. I remember him cooking steak and onions in the living room. I was the remote controll back then ;) we only had 13 channels. But durring commercials I would change the channel and I was happy to help my dad back then. Great memories. ;)
I absolutely love Charles Bronson, from his early roles in tv westerns, his own series ‘Man With a Camera’ to his blockbuster movies. What a real actor is!
John Wayne, Charles Broson, Eastwood, Elvis, McQueen, they just don't make them anymore!!! Actors who made you want to be a better man! God Bless and Thank You...one and all forever remembered for good!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😇
I heard Elvis wanted/was maybe going to play the part of A Star is born.that.kris Kristofferson did instead , which woulda been good for him but his manager messed it up
@@Grantpeacelove It would be rare event that the Col. mess up! But everyone make one sometime. The Col., Red, and Carl Perkins getting injury then becoming signature guitar for Elvis made it possible to become a one name super star. June 07, 1973 watch Elvis concert it was flawless. The only time I paid to see a concert and a decade later sold one unused ticket for $300... Atlanta, Ga. I paid $500 for a ticket to see another concert that good. In 73 Elvis was beyond anyone then or later. Guess Dixie sung by Elvis in Atlanta was Awesome and last of a bygone time. Good memories 👍🏻😇!!! Thanks didn't know he was up for the part. 5VOLT S agree, "well done"
Grew up watching his movies. My folks loved him! One of the best. Rest in peace sir!
Nice pair
I actually "met" Charles Bronson up in Vt in the late 70s. I had no idea he lived up there.
I went to open the door of a shop...but the door opened before I could grab the knob...and there was Charles Bronson looking down at me! The shocked look on my face made him smile!
He was wearing a red bandana around his head, and he drove a beat up red pickup. Just a regular guy....sort of.
Jill was gorgeous, and Charlie always had a gruff but handsome look, imho.
RIP Charlie. You did good!
Interesting!

Damn that's cool. You were lucky. 💪💪😎 That's one of those unicorn stories. Awesome.
kmeccat Heard he was kind of crazy?
You've got to love Bronson. May God keep him and his family in eternal peace.
Bonsai Tree Hows the old nebari coming on?
????hope but.......
Very nice tribute to Bronson. We all liked the characters he played. The dedication to Jill Ireland by stopping making movies was really something special.

r g, I agree, too bad he remarried.
RIP, I love his Western Movie. No one can match him, simply awesome.
Mr.
He earned $1 dollar for every ton of coal he mined - he passed away with a net worth of $65 Million Dollars - amazing man, amazing story.
What a love Charles Bronson had for his wife Jill...one of a kind.
My father was also such a man, loved and respected my mother for 64 years RIP dear dad!!
@@antoniospanayiotou8619 You are blessed that you could witness such a beautiful love. Salamu aleykum.

What a legend. I watched his movies from way back in the 1960's. RIP to a legendary actor

Once upon a Time in the West.....excellent movie, I'll never forget that one!
"I hope you'll come back someday."
RIP to my AFFRICAN favourite actor well inspired good actor.
We regularly watch " once upon a time" one time per year. And each time I cry, when the family is killed at the beginning of the film. 😭😭
Charles Bronson is wonderful in this great masterpiece !!
Bet Roy Orbison would been cool for that part also.
@@stephenmitchell3569 dang thats awesome. Ima check out that show right now if its on youtube. I watched about half of the movie Nixon and Elvis on amazon. Was really entertaining. Thanks for the cool story peace brother
