I got the title in vanilla. We were cruising by a ship, fired a shot at it, saw it was fighting a megalodon, so we took our treasure and left. A few minutes later we got an achievement pop up “hunter of the shrouded ghost”. Guess they killed it for us! Most pirate way to get the achievement ever, thanks for doing all the work and letting us steal the credit yarrrr

My ghost could not have been more against the odds. I was solo and about to log off and I see a galleon parked at an outpost. I suck at PVP so I take any chance I can get to take on the unprepared. I sailed to it and climb aboard - there’s nothing, no one. I take the supplies and jump back to my boat. I let loose and all of a sudden it starts to pull away. Why I didn’t log off at that point I have no idea. I flee in terror. Almost immediately - THE MUSIC. I’m TERRIFIED the galleon will easily dismiss me and take it from me. It must have been one guy because instead of chasing me, they fled in the opposite direction. The rest is history. Congrats bro! Btw I am all but certain I was fleeing exactly south - I have a capture of it, I’ll check. Fits with your theory though.

I probably got one in the first few weeks I played. I didn't know it was rare, so I didn't appreciate that epic moment. Months later, after I learned more about the game, I discovered I already had the title Hunter of the Shrouded Ghost.
The heading NSEW was a good point. However over the years I've noticed one key thing with every shrouded ghost appearance on videos, and megalodons generally In my own gameplay. Having a lot of loot, such as multiple stacks from a fort. In your case, the other ship had 9 camps for the burning blade. So I'm not sure if it's necessary loot, or if it's more along the lines of world event completions, but that combined with enemy players nearby for prolonged durations seems like a potentially good strategy to try.

I’ve seen the Shrouded Ghost once but, like many others, was not able to get in position quickly enough before it disappeared again. 3:40 I genuinely didn’t know that high of a streak was impressive, granted I’m relatively new to the game, and have 0 pvp skills, me and my friend got a streak of 8, which is probably because we had an easy server, we lost immediately to 4 pirate legends (on 2 sloops)
I got my Shrouded at 400 hour mark so extremely lucky. I was on open crew sloop and we just finished selling our gilded merchant to Port Merrick. I wanted to do our emissary quest, he wanted to dive to sea fort. Luckily he gave up and we started to sail towards Mermaids Hideaway. Almost soon as we left Port Merrick music started and i was first confused but when i heard the meg i knew excatly what was happening. Other guy had no clue what was happening but i guess my excitment told enough that we needed to anchor and kill it.
they need voyages that send you straight to a megalodon like the skeleton ships, the kind you find can be random but we need stuff like that for krackens as well

My personal theory is that random encounters are more likely when you're carrying loot. I've gone on deliberate meg hunts before, circling the outside of the map and never had anything spawn, meg or skelly ship. However they seem to spawn like clockwork when I'm on my way to turn in. I don't think loot quantity has any affect on it, just presence or absence of loot since I get harassed by them alot when I'm carrying animals I don't want dead. I think there's enough reason for the devs to do that deliberately, just to make the encounter more interesting and force the player to decide whether or not they want to take a risk for a bigger payout.
I always ignore it when a megalodon shows up ever since I figured they’re harmless. I never payed attention to their color. I didn’t even know hunting them is a thing. I was thinking of them like a fun decoration, something interesting that shows up in the sea sometimes and that’s all. 😂

I've only ever seen 2 in my entire playtime over the last many years... The very first Meg I ever saw on my account was a Shrouded and I was in the Roar. The 2nd one was the same experience in the Roar, but I had a friend on my crew and it was their first time playing the game too. I wonder if there is some correlation with that.... Whether it was the fact we were in the Roar both times, or it was the First Meg ever encountered on a new account idk.

I wonder if you or someone could do a video about ai and how the lure dart really works: cone of vision, when they will prioritize the lure dart, do they typically take damage from each other? or does the lure dart cause them to actually start taking damage, etc
I appreciate the effort but the pockets part is incredibly misleading because you're insinuating that there are spawn points. There aren't. The physical spawn conditions are proximity based and nothing more. I'm not going to be able to convince you but at least this video isn't as bad as others. gg and congrats on the shrouded. As far as N/S/E/W, there is no way this was programmed in and I'm 99% sure it isn't true but given how many unintentional things happen in this game it wouldn't entirely shock me.
I was in a duo burning blade recently and we got to 4 because we wanted to get 1 level of that achievement done. We were on our way to turn in and someone raced to us to make sure we couldn't turn in. They eventually got us because we're not that good at pvp. It ruined our whole day because we spent like 6 hours on the sea and between that encounter and a previous one in the day we had nothing to show for it. Both myself and my crewmate have been playing since launch and it was the worst day we've ever had. We are considering not playing anymore even though because playing a game and trying to get the achievements and stuff and then getting nothing to show for it at the end of the day feels bad. So bad that we'd just rather play a different game on our days off instead of getting harassed and shit on. Also, we've been playing so long and have never seen the shrouded ghost.

I didn’t know this was that rare. I did get it within 30 hours of playtime but I had no idea that it was rare so I didn’t bother killing it.

Six years. I've been playing this game for over six years, and I've never seen this thing (outside of last year's Shrouded Deep adventure).
Got my strouded ghost at 650 hrs a couple months ago. Like Phuzzy says, it happens when you least expect it.

SO proud and soooooo jellly! I have 5,000+ hours in the game and now have hope again.
I know of a specific spot that will consistently spawn a meg, as long as requirements are met. Now that we have diving I can very quickly farm them.
