I honestly love how both songs have contrasting but very, VERY fitting meanings behind them. "Run to You" (in my book) talks about the extreme measures one person would go to stay with his sigificant other. He's been through a lot with her, fighting to stay with her and doing everything he can to keep the ball rolling. "Gravity" (again, in my book) talks about how she wants him to set her free because she knows she doesn't have the power to do it herself, but in some way, whether on purpose or on accident, there's always a way that brings him back to her.
I can't even count how many times I've listened to this by now-- but I "ugly" cry every time. From the bottom of my heart, thank you all for creating such a beautiful and touching rendition of two already wonderful pieces of music.
I love Natalie Weiss and i've been following her works for 6 years now i think... She's FLAWLESS, but, I have to admit that, in my opinion, the magic touch here is brought by the amazing voice of Laura Osnes. So perfect, so pure.
This absolutely blew me away. It was breath taking, slightly haunting, and overall one of the best things I have heard in my entire life. Phenomenal. Absolutely outstanding.
This is so amazing I am freaking out. This actually upsetting me. I dont even have words to describe how absolutely fabulous this is. Bravo. Just Bravo. This has left me speechless, and breathless.
I LOVE both songs, and I LOVE everyone in this video, but I think that the songs didn't work too well together. Both songs are such beautifully written pieces that it was kinda distracting to me to have both overlaying each other. Perhaps there could have been a different arrangement of this, but I can't really imagine these two songs coinciding together rhythmically. However, they both compliment each other in lyrics. The contrast was breath taking. I just wish that there could have been a little more fluidity within the piece. But this is my humble opinion, and I totally love and respect everyone involved with this!
this is way too belt-y; you can tell it's Broadway people because the blend was not good. that's what's wonderful about PTX; every time I hear them sing their original Run To You, I can barely make out who is singing what until the bridge. this is full of people who really want their specific voice to be heard. awesome arrangement for sure, and lots of talent, but if you collab again, work on blending instead of trying to each stick out.
First and foremost, I respect your opinion (exactly what your statement exhibits) -- personal opinion. Also, the dissonant harmonies and innate capability of their individual unique voices gives a nuance within the dynamics. I admit I wish that in the beginning the harmonies were more right. However, the blend is beautifully executed without a sense of singular intention. And, Natalie is superb with her vocal genius. So, yes, I understand where you're coming from. At least, they know that they're musical theatre artist with other genre influences. They're not claiming to be anything other. If FKA Twigs can sing "Stay With Me" they can can sing this mash up. Respect indifference and not conventionality.
I don't understand what being a Broadway person has to do with blend because no matter if you're on Broadway or you're classically trained singing in a concert hall blend is always important. Maybe the blend here isn't the greatest but it's pretty darn good. Plus it's a cover, if they sound exactly like Pentatonix it wouldn't be a cover it would be copying the sound. They're not the Pentatonix so they're not gonna sound exactly like them. If the blend isn't perfect (via studio work) it isn't the end of the world. No one goes into a piece like this saying "I want my voice to be heard because I'm a star" especially these people who are working professionals.
Natalie's voice is so beautiful. She's amazing.
Goosebumps at 3:49 and beyond.
The rhythmic control in this mashup gives me all the feels.
Also, listening to this for the first time made me cry in the middle of the student union of my university, but I have no shame.
Both of these songs have major personal meaning to me and I'm not gonna lie, this made me cry like a baby.
Oh dear God. Words cannot explain the feelings I got from hearing this. Beautiful! 💜
I thought I'd seen/heard it all with these songs a million times over but Natalie fucking Weiss literally made me sob. So. Good.

Agree. Too much vibrato and too much full singing from the background singers...also the balance between backup and melody is just off in general.
actually the only person who isn't blending well is Laura. And Natalie is solo so she's supposed to stand out.
