I'm expected to see Broadway production with Eddie Redmayne as Emcee in a few days, which I am greatly excited about, but I truly hope I'll get to see this performer in that role sometimes too. I just got to know them only because their footages from Olney Theatre Center popped up on my TH-cam account, and I am blown away!
I grew up watching Alan Cumming as the Emcee. I was inspired by the role and that performance. When I came out to my Dad as NB he said "Oh, like the Emcee." As an NB person myself, seeing Mx. Park take on this role is a dream come true. A tortured and sad dream given the content of the musical, but a dream nonetheless of NB people taking on intense songs and scenes.

To tell the truth, the difference between this and the live version that's up on TH-cam is so interesting! They're both really good performances, but both offer a completely different take each on the same song. The live version offers more bite, more bitterness. You can hear how he spits out some words. This almost sounds more heartbroken and hopeless in a way. A far cry from the anger of the past, but it still resonates with the lyrics as both ways work for me. The way I view it is almost like losing an argument. You either go out shouting and screaming like "Fine! Whatever! Do what you want! I don't even care anyway!", or you're more defeated with all hope given up like "yeah. Whatever. Do what you want. I don't care anymore." Both are so totally different to each other, but again, it works with the lyrics of the song! Pretty masterful if you ask me.

Vocally, it's astounding and it's just dripping with passion and intensity and you can feel every possible emotion that can be derived from this song. I love the look too. It's very cool and very different from every other EmCee I've seen. They're a truly incredible performer and I would love to see a full version with them in this role.

Upon his last show at the Kit Kat Club a singular tear ran down his cheek when he said his last line. Saddest thing I’ve ever witnessed on stage.

I'm only familiar with Mason through what limited Cabaret clips on youtube we have, and yet they've overtaken Alan Cumming as my favorite emcee. I adore Alan, but Mason's is evolved in a way that hits more personally for me. They nail the spectacle, mystery and seduction of the emcee but reveal glimpses of broken person buried alive under the emcee persona. I've only ever seen musicals through the internet, but I'm fully committed to seeing this show should Mason ever reprise the role.

Oh my God! I have no words. Mason's version of this song is so hauntingly beautiful. It literally took my breath away. A lot of performers have sung this song over the years but ,in my book, they all pale in comparison to Mason's version. I felt this performance to my core. Most people don't know but this song wasn't originally written for The Emcee. It was written for a prostitute. I"m glad they decided to let The Emcee have it.

Even though I’m a huge cabaret fan. I’ve admittedly never heard this song before and now Mason has ruined every other version for me forever by being so incredible.
I love them at least they don't pretend to be a gender they are not unlike trans people saying they are the opposite gender i get feeling out of place and stuff but it doesn't make you another gender. that being said identify as whatever as long as you don't hurt someone but just because you're trans doesn't mean you get the rights of the other gender i think that is where the issue is. have the rights of your own gender. be happy healthy and safe.
