    I’m a lucky guy ..... I have both, the Speedmaster 0.95 & the Fuji f2 ..... Each of them is a jewel for different usages and situations ..... I never want to have to choose between the 2. Very simple to manual focusing with the Mitakon .... A dream !

    Great video! Btw your affiliate link to the lens hood is incorrect. Thank you!

    I use it on an xpro3 mainly for portrait. I often use it fully open and focus in the close range typically on the eyes to make a dreamy image with the pupils sharply in focus and the rest of the face being soft. It works also great on pets. It is manageable to focus with focus peaking by moving the camera to and fro. I manage to mail the focus may be 20% of the time (pixel level) as the DOF at f0.95 is exceedingly shallow. The results are close to what the 50mm f1.2 Nikon z lens could do on a Z7ii. This however is much cheaper and a more portable setup.

    Congratulations, you made me run from your video, simply by choosing this music.

    Dude, I don't know what is going on with the focus on this video but it pops in and out so much it is giving me a headache! Great review but need to set your focus to manual and leave it there when you are sitting still because man it is hunting. That or turn the IS off on your lens while its on a tripod!

    would you recommand this lense for wedding, events, and street photo? I'm torn between the mitakon and the fuji

    • @momentsofframe
      @momentsofframe 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I choose the Fuji, because it's autofocus. Weddings are never static, so it is hard to control the movement with 0.95 MF.

      @DemosSoupashis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For Street it's tight but you can get nice results from a distance, af isn't an issue if you zone focus on the frame and await for a subject to enter. For weddings I only use it for static shots it's difficult for moving subjects and thus a good auto af lens will definitely suit you better for weddings.

    I purchased this lens after so many positive reviews and it is indeed an awesome lens! Put a brand name on it and they would charge 3 times the price. Great review.

    It's a great lens for the price.. Even better when on sale. Awesome rendering even at f/0.95. It pretty much dominated on-camera time after I got it. It's a bit large and bulky, but what are u going to do? Totally worth it. Definitely a fun lens with some of the 3d pop you can get for Fuji camera

    • @DemosSoupashis
      @DemosSoupashis  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't actually find it big and bulky it's compliments the xpro2 and Xt2 brilliantly. It's been stuck on the xpro2 for a while now even though I prefer a 23mm!

    • @khronokraze
      @khronokraze 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Demos Soupashis it's doable, but compared to the F2 lenses, it's a bit on the long side.. Not necessarily big and bulky, perhaps poorly chosen and less precise adjectives to describe it.
      I also have used it on my xpro2 as my daily for quite a while despite its weight and length, but I can't deny as it's slung around cross my body, the lens hits my arm and I am aware of its presence and I have to lift my arm off my body a bit to avoid constant contact.
      To each their own, but even the F2 lenses are physically noticeable protrusions on the front of my XPro-2. I put up with them and the mitakon cause they are good lenses, but it can be unwieldy sometimes still, especially if you add a lens hood which extends them even further.
      What I have tried to use as my daily lens now is one of the inexpensive cctv lenses adapted. A 35mm f1.6 renders quite nicely for a $35 or less lens kit and it is very much super compact.. Even less than the 27mm F2.8 pancake lens.
      I recommend trying one as they cost like 3 decent lunches and can have a unique rendering to the bokeh. The focus throw is also alot shorter than the mitakon and a lot of other lenses which makes quick manual focusing quite snappy once u get used to the short turn of the focus ring and general compactness of such a lens.
      Tempted to try the 7artisans 35mm F1.2 as the build looks nice and nearly as compact as the 35mm f1.6 cctv lens I have right now.
      If you prefer the 23mm focal length. I would suggest maybe you try one of those cctv lenses about that length. They have a 25mm f1.8 lens (if not possibly a little faster) for less than $30 or even $25, I'm sure. I here good things about those with surprisingly positive results.

    Great review, this video makes justice to this lens I’m very happy with mine too it’s a great lens, though when you mention the flare issue I wouldn’t use protection filter at all hence it adds even more flare (no matter the filter brand). By the way on my XP2 I preferred a circular vented hood since it may block a little bit on the right corner if OVF is used though I use a squared one on my 16 f1.4.

    anyone has fringing on F0.95? it goes away at approx F2-2.8. other than that great lens for the price and full manual only adds to the character (really dislike fujinon focus by wire).
