  • Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 Mark II Lens for Fuji X is a moderately sharp lens at 0.95 and was a joy to use in the studio on the Fujifilm X-Pro 3 But switching to the Fujifilm XF 33mm f/1.4 was amazing as Brittney was able to move around a little more freely. I also added a few Fujifilm XF 90mm f/2.0 images at the end.

Great video 👌 I’ve used my mitakon for a few years now and it’s produced a good few favourite images of mine and the colour saturation and contrast is amazing from f1.4 upwards and with focus peaking its very easy to get good focus on the eyes of your subject! I’ve sold it recently and the other Chinese lens the pergear 35mm has better rendering than the Mitakon and my favourite manual focus lenses that I own are the voigtlander nokton 50mm f1.2, Carl zeiss distagon 35mm zf2 , Carl zeiss apo sonar 135mm f2 and yashica yashinon 50 f2

Thank you and agree on the 1.4 and above. And thank you for the manual focus favorite list! I really want the Voigtlander 50 APO f/2 but you definitely gave me a few lenses to try.

Thanks for the comparison. I have the Mitakon, but I consider buying the 33 for fast autofocus to capture expressions.

Great video. I have mitakon and i love it. Lot of my favorites photos has been taken with it.
Maybe it is a silly question but do you think it is worthy to buy the new 33 f1.4 having the mitakon ? I have a lot of second thoughts and dont know what to do. You have try both and might give me your opinion. I know they are different kind of lenses but eventually both are quite fast, and sharp. I´m not sure if sell mitakon to buy fujifilm is worthy... keeping both might be out of my range.
    Thanks a lot !

Not silly at all. Depends if you have faster paced events that critical / fast focus would be required. And this of course is dependent on your manual focusing skills. I always have to have that one lens that I can shoot from the hip and not worry about the outcome.

Hey, yours doesn't rub on the X-Pro 3 lens release button? What about corners? Mine is perfectly fine center but the corner are a smudge-fest. I was a bit surprised as my Mitakon 65 1.4 on the GFX is almost perfect in the corners.

I don’t believe so. At least I’ve never noticed it. And very clean in the corners.

This lens is the perfect combo of size and discreet appearance and performance. I have the Fuji 23 1.4 the 16 1.4 and the 50 1.0 and a Fuji x100 and it’s difficult for me to justify using anything but the mitakon.

      Is the 50 f/1 weight/size a problem for you?

I had that lens and I sold it because i did not like the mf. That said, looking at the results from this lens...they are magical and if I had Fujifilm AF lenses this good with this kind of magic I would forget about FF forever..! For anyone who has all the time in the world to manually focus this is a very beautiful lens that produces very sharp photos with a uniquely soft background. And the metal construction is second to none and is a joy to use!

Volume too low to be usable for me.

these images are not even at F2 , at F1 you should have one eye blured the other not , but im talking about FF , i shoot FF , in that aperture there is no way i would get a focus across the face let alone body , i would have one eye sharp the other out of focus . But i guess when you are at 4/3 looks like F2.8 to me on a FF , or even F3 .

APS-C, not M43, so this lens wide open would be more like 1.4 in terms of DOF.

@@AardvarkAdventure doesnt look to me even like F1.8 , i know F1.8 DOF cuz i use it on nifty fifty , my as it turns out favorite lens . Tho its not a bad thing if you ask me , you get the light and yet you get deeper focus . I struggle with it , people form a line and i shoot , a lot of them are out of focus even at F2,8 on FF at 50mm . So i like it its not that i dont like it , its just that it doesnt look like its some crazy DOF
