Recommendations for new vid: 1) Make one about good control schemes. For real, I had to look around and spend some decent time to find what worked for me. After that I improved much faster. Please do a video on control schemes and also consider making a play list titled "beginner smash ultimate vids" or smth that collects all necessary vids to start the game. A good start is half the battle. This is will probably also result in this playlist being shared on r/crazyhand and other social media which should increase subscribers. I love how you're being smart about things and using ultimate to gain new subs. That subscribe input profile is so creative lol. Don't pay heed to all the people pointing out the intro, I think it's great. It's an omega intro. 2) Also please educate people how important it is to have a lan adapter for online play. 3) Having your inputs being shown on the screen as you play would also be great. 4) Keep making these "how to play [character] " vids they're omega. You could also make vids on how to counter popular and top tier characters such as simon, k. Rool, diddy, marth, (please do marth I hate playing against him), link etc. Don't do how to play against vids on mid-low tier characters though (unless heavily requested of course) cause they're already easy to beat. 5) like my comment and maybe reply it would make my year
The intro is super smart and "necessary" in a way, Ultimate will have very many players that either have never played smash or are returning from an older smash and are looking to get good, so its smart to do. And to not have everything be about the intro, impressive video. I always thought that pichu was a straight up worse pikachu due to self damage but your points and explanations really changed my view. Great job, looking forward to this series!
More Tips! Pichu's BAir can gimp! If your opponent is offstage, he can run off as well and do a BAir right through them. It's like Smash 4 Fox's NAir gimp. Pichu's Up B doesn't do damage. At least from what I've seen. His FAir seems to cover almost his entire body! Down Throw to FAir can work if you move towards your opponent while FAiring away from them. Follow-ups are common. Link is EVIL to Pichu. I plan to main this character and Isabelle, so stay tuned for more tips!
Some other Pichu stuff I've seen: Up Tilt > full hop Thunder (body hit) can combo at high %s and is a kill confirm. Also within certain % ranges, Up Tilt > Thunder (bolt) > Thunder (thundercloud spike into body hit) can combo. Up Smash can combo into Thunder (thundercloud spike into body hit) as well. Up Throw > Thunder (thundercloud spike into body hit) can also combo at kill %. Pichu's Thunder is noticeably faster than Pichu's. Pichu suffers less lag when hitting himself with Thunder than when he avoids the bolt by moving.
When your opponent is at high percent, up throw into thunder works exceptionally well. It spikes him straigt down at you ready to receive another attack
I never heard of zero before and simply wanted to know more about how to play with pichu. The fact he tells people what he has achieved (which is amazing btw) made me feel like i can actually learn from this video as he has way more experience than i do. It doesnt seem arrogant or flexy to me at all. Afterall, ied rather learn from a pro than someones thats "meh, ok." Anyways, thats how i think about it xD Thanks for the great tips man!
Thank you so much for making this guide Zero!!!! I've been planning on maining Pichu but I don't know much about him but now I can learn him efficiently! The only thing I do know that you didn't mention is his upthrow thunder combo is very good for killing almost anyone at 100% except maybe a couple heavies
Love your videos man and you inspired all smash players last game, please do a Marth guide after 8,000 ssb4 games I decided to main him and would like you to cover my main
At mid percents I believe down-tilt to forward smash is a true combo (And can kill at ledge). Also at mid percents I believe down throw to full hop down air at ledge can set up a great edge guard situation (Or even kill people with bad vertical recoveries). I can’t guarantee this works but so far it has been working for me.
This is literally my favorite Ultimate video. Yeah I hang out on Twitch; yeah I watched hours of videos on this game across many channels. But Pichu is my heart. Hahaha. Thank you for this (fans who asked, you guys rock too. 💛).

Forward Air, in my opinion, is slightly better than down tilt. it lifts the opponent just enough to chain it with other airials, deals a decent amount of damage with little to no cost, and leaves the opponent more open to stronger moves. I chain it with itself over and over again to rack up massive damage really quickly. I destroyed a Ganondorf player using this strategy. And if you somehow get the opponent above you, use Thunderbolt.
You forgot to mention pichu's f tilt. It's actually a kill move, and i myself have gotten an extreme close up kill with it at a little over 120% or around that area. I myself am a pichu main btw, and i already do a couple of the things you mentioned, such as always going for dair spikes offstage, not only for kill confirm, but also for the hype, and using back throw a lot. You taught me to use down tilt more, though, and the combos you can get off of it
Not sure if someone mentioned it, but forward throw does more damage than back throw. It’s a 5 hit move with a total of 14 damage and the last hit is what does 7.
I hope I get to see some pichus make it to the top cut of tournaments that would make me so happy. But thank you Zero for your vids they excite me for the game and I learn a lot too.
I picked up Pichu before this video went up and I have to say that playing as him really shows just how much faster ultimate is compared to smash 4. He’s also probably one of the most fun characters to play as.
The way ZeRo introduces himself is actually perfectly fine since he is indeed considered to be the greatest SM4SH 4 player due to the win streak consistency and he has gone through bullshit to get to where he is now. That’s basically why people listen to his advice and tier lists Btw Pichu is THE LIGHTEST character in the game, and is still top tier
I think it'd be really helpful to show some game play against other people while you talk about it. Other than that I think these are great. Looking forward to more of them when you make them.
You can do down tilt to f smash not sure what percent it works at tho. At early percent you can do down throw to down b and it hits the part of the thunder that hits pichu and does about 24 percent
I compared all the damage pichu does to himself and compared all of his moves to pikachu. Something that is good to know is his side B does less recoil than his up B so it's important to think about which recovery to use
That feel when you dream of all the cool characters you'll try to main only to discover that Mii Swordfighter is a fucking demon and you constantly go back to it for the wins.
Zero deserves to flex. He is the best player in the world. Probably for smash ultimate as well already. He did win 1st place at that event for a game that wasn't even out yet (officially)when he fought MKLeo & he was already retired
If you move really quick there IS a way that you can dodge the thunderbolt. You can only really do it successfully in the air tho. This vid was amazingly helpful btw I’ve been wanting to main pichu in smash since melee, when he got taken out I was devastated. He’s such a good boye
I guess the only thing I wish you did was talk more on kill confirms, though with Pichu being able to combo aggressively the way it does, sometimes Dashing FSmash and Dashing DSmash are all you need for it. Otherwise this guide is really helpful because I'm excited to main my childhood favorite even if he was bad in Melee.

*as forward throw proceeds to do 14.4%*
The way ZeRo introduces himself is actually perfectly fine since he is indeed considered to be the greatest SM4SH 4 player due to the win streak consistency and he has gone through bullshit to get to where he is now.
That’s basically why people listen to his advice and tier lists
Btw Pichu is THE LIGHTEST character in the game, and is still top tier
Thank you for this! I am so glad to see a good video on pichu.
I mean I played Pichu in melee as a secondary and as soon as I unlocked Pichu in this game I was doing most of what you said already great video
I think it'd be really helpful to show some game play against other people while you talk about it. Other than that I think these are great. Looking forward to more of them when you make them.
I remember playing Smash bros on the wii. This game brings back so many memories :)
Zero makes every character look top tier
I really wanted to see you explain Alpharad's combo: D-tilt into D-air spike on the ledge
2:06 how do you perform these attacks? My pichu is jumping much higher than that even when i just tap y
Great vid my friend. Do a how to play Zelda and palu next! Woo! I can't wait!
I like how Pichus side tilt nearly always trips at low to mid percent. Broken
Zero deserves to flex. He is the best player in the world. Probably for smash ultimate as well already. He did win 1st place at that event for a game that wasn't even out yet (officially)when he fought MKLeo & he was already retired
I swear 90% of these comments are about Zero's intro.
The other 10% are about how awesome pichu is. (Which he certainly is)
What a nice one ! Thx dude i want to train pikachu but i will change for pichu now haha :p Cant wait for the Zelda one !
If you move really quick there IS a way that you can dodge the thunderbolt. You can only really do it successfully in the air tho. This vid was amazingly helpful btw I’ve been wanting to main pichu in smash since melee, when he got taken out I was devastated. He’s such a good boye
How many character guides are you doing because this one was great!
4:58, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't FThrow just do 14.4% not 7.8%? That makes it his most powerful throw by a wide margin.
