great review AD! so happy to have a definitive version of vader for the shelf. I have two already and plan on getting at least two more to swap out the vaders on my OT shelf.
Now curiousity has me. I wonder if the arms can pop off and could be swapped woth the ROTJ Vader figure cause that one comes with a arm that has the hand cut off by luke. Putting that arm on this figure and putting on all the battle damage pieces would make it look even cooler to me. Hopefully its possible
Aside from the lower part of the neck piece of his helmet that should be over the shoulder armor (a much longer double-barbell joint would be needed) and the shoulderpads (and the ankle rockers) which aren't a deal breaker, what I see is a figure without major issues. Considering the so-so quality of Tamashii Nations releases, thankfully this Vader is "lucky". Sure, I don't have it but the way they made the chest panel and belt boxes is incredible and it is possibly the closest we have to a perfect Empire/RotJ/Kenobi helmet. Rogue One is a mix between the OG and Episode III in some frames. Two things that make instantly better than any TBS? The tunic tucked in nicely AND a secondary lightsaber hilt. I definitely look forward to watch the posing video.
I just received my copy and i agree to everything you said in your review ! It's SOOOO BEAUTIFUL! Just in his stoic position, he already looks great. Highly recommended!
i just want to warn all the guys who are getting this and those who already have this, to be careful with the shoulder armor piece. i think this is the weakest part of the toy. Mine broke off as i was fiddling with it.@@ActionDisplayChannel
This figure looks like a masterpiece but I did end up going with the TBS only because I have the Hot Toys version of this coming in soon. Honestly TBS version is pretty amazing but yeah, this S H versions is looks to be leagues ahead.
I'm glad you like this Vader so much, but it's a pass for me for a few reasons. Firstly is the cape. It seems like you love the cape, but I couldn't take my eyes off the ends of the cape sticking up past his collar. It was driving me crazy how prominent they were. Secondly, I already have the RotJ 2.0 Vader from SHF, and for me, that's the version of Vader I need on my shelf. One to duel with RotJ Luke. I know enough about the Vader suit differences that a Vader like this dueling Jedi Luke would drive me nuts. Plus, I actually prefer the plastic tunic since Vader doesn't really display much agility in his appearances anyway.
Best 6 Inch Vader ever, would be difficult to top this one. Soo, with SHF ROTJ Luke this ultimate Vader can become even more ultimate😉 thanks for the hint!
SO GLAD I preordered this figure. The softgoods tunic is what did it for me. But the fact that you can use the old original unmasked heads is fantastic.
Good review but personally I prefer the black series version that cape looks strange,I thought you did not like extra hands? I love extra hands, jk lol got to have a sense of humour right, just banter, no need to be so serious😆😆😆😆 merry Christmas👍 keep up the good work, we appreciate you👍

Awesome review. I own this along with ANH and ROTJ versions. SHF should make a ESB version soon with the updated cloth bottom.

Yes it is, 100%. I have both and I think that this one is a better figure.
The cape being all up in the figure's face looks janky and cheap. This may be the better figure, but Mafex looks better to me.
I have both and the mafex looks much cheaper to me in-hand (sloppier paint, gappier joints, hard plastic tunic, etc)
both are pretty nice figures tho
Figure looks good, my only complaint is that Vader got no neck
It is there but the cape around the neck can stick up a bit and cover the neck. But still, for me, this is the best 6 inch Vader we ever got.
