This was released in 1979, but The Bee Gees go back even further. Barry Gibb is the oldest son & his younger brothers, Maurice (pronounced Morris) & Robin were fraternal twins. The oldest Gibb child is their sister, Lesley, but she doesn't perform. They also had a baby brother, Andy (who was my favorite), that went on to have a very successful solo career. Andy died just a few days past his 30th birthday from Myocarditis (heart condition) which was exacerbated by years of drug use. Both twin brothers have also passed away, Maurice in 2003 & Robin in 2012. Barry is the last surviving Bee Gee & sister Lesley is still alive also. Barry & the twins started performing as kids back in 1958. They gained fame in the 60's, but it wasn't until the 1970's when they started singing in their iconic falsetto tones & soon became the kings of disco genre. Their album 'Saturday Night Fever" was the soundtrack for the movie of the same name & stars a young John Travolta in the lead role. It is considered to be one of the best selling albums of all time (40+ million sold). They continued to write & perform into the early 2000's. They have written numerous songs, both for themselves & for other singers. They were inducted into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame in 1994. Then they were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. You've likely heard their songs before, but just didn't realize it was them. Staying Alive, Night Fever, How deep is your love, You should be dancing, Tragedy, & More than a woman are just some of their more well known songs, but they have a whole library of great music...
Just to add a few more details. The Gibbs are British but raised in Australia and Barry currently lives in Florida. I saw this in a documentary so I don’t remember the city but I think it was Chicago. There was a DJ who hate Disco and because the BeeGees had numerous hit from the album and movie Saturday Night Fever this DJ went after them. There was a concert and they ask attendees to bring a disco album because they were going to destroy them with a bond fire. The years following the BeeGees wrote hit songs for other artists. BTW the song your listening to at a school dance would have been played to slow dance to. Some of the best music wrote and sang in the 70’s is by the BeeGees.
@@gingercollier7949Yep, it was called Disco Demolition Night in Chicago July 1979, during a doubleheader between the White Sox & Detroit Tigers. It was spearheaded by local Steve Dahl, who should've paid a hefty price for the damage he did to their careers.😡

Barry Gibb. One of the truly good ones. He wrote many top 100 hits even one year he had back-to-back to back summer #1's. He didn't sing them all, he wrote for others. Today he is the last Gibb. Married to his Miss Australia sweetheart, Linda, for 54 years!!!! oh yea, Much like micheal jordan, I know the other brothers are all stars too, but everyone wants Barry in their band.
When the Bee Gees came on the scene thet were anazing. Looking back I think the really amazing thing is that their voices are real, accurate and great live or in studio. They wrote many of the hits of other singers as well. They sang background to Diana Ross Chain reaction which they wrote.
omg you're adorable, and it makes me so happy seeing young people enjoying my favorite band of all time ever. "Music today is like, junk food." Truer words were never said.
The "squeaky" voice is known as a falsetto, and it is rare for a man to be able to sing in that range. This is only ONE thing that made the BROTHERS GIBB so rare and special. Their harmony was as one voice that can only happen when u share such a close brotherly bond and DNA. The middle singer is the oldest brother, Barry Gibb, and the other two are Barry's fraternal twin brothers.
One of my favorite Bee Gees songs is "You Win Again" using their lower registers. Barry has been making music for over 5 decades. Lots of artists have redone Bee Gees hits. Please explore and enjoy real music! ❤
Unfortunately the twins are passed now and only Barry is alive (the eldest in the middle)....they are so good you need to Google them and listen to more of their stuff
This is not his only voice. This is where he is doing the higher tone. I hope you explore more of ygeir work. They were versatile. They spanned 3 or 4 decades. They wrote most of their music, and they also wrote music for many famous singers. Several of their songs were in movies.
Barry Gibb has epic hair....I think Farrah Fawcett was the only woman to every achieve perfect feathered hair...His is perfect. Then that face and that voice...well their voices...
The GOAT in my opinion. The voices were amazing. They have been singing together since they were very young. Twins 6. Barry 9. They wrote over 1,000 songs. Pure voices and PURE lyrics. Not like the crap u hear today.
01:23 Yes. The luscious hair! You gotta love the men's hair in the 70s, man. It seems like they always had hair that women were working so hard to get.😆 ohh well

They are 3 biological brothers and sang together since they were boys. The tallest one in the the center is the oldest brother. The two brothers on either side of him are fraternal twins. IMHO the brother on the far left has the best voice but no one sang lead in this song. Catch a Bee Gees song with that brother taking the lead vocals to see what you think. Also, if I remember correctly they started adding the high falsetto during the "disco era".
How about listening to the song If by Bread. My husband (or soon-to-be back in ‘78) always had the 8-track of the group in his car because he knew girls loved their music.

The brothers had very bright, extremely nasal falsettos, but such good control that it didn't turn screechy.) Their earlier stuff sounded like classic rock/folk rock with normal voices, quite good stuff. It's a completely different sound!

I'd had no idea they'd recorded a bunch of music down in their normal vocal range; I'd only ever heard the high falsetto singing they're known for. (That's the "uniqueness" you mentioned. The brothers had very bright, extremely nasal falsettos, but such good control that it didn't turn screechy.) Their earlier stuff sounded like classic rock/folk rock with normal voices, quite good stuff. It's a completely different sound!
Legends! And No Autotune!🥰
Great reaction! ❤ So glad you discovered the fabulous BeeGees. "Nights on Broadway"performed on the Midnight Special should be next to hear their lower range. Then please react to Alone, Love You Inside Out, Morning of My Life, Rings Around the Moon, Love So Right, Emotion, How Do You Mend a Broken Heart, Run To Me Their music spans 4 decades - early 60s to 2001 & they have 22 studio albums and 39 albums total.❤
This type of music is best listened to on a night alone with your partner with a nice drink, relaxing in your favourite chair and thinking of all the good times in your life with people who are and were important to you and let peace and happiness recharge your soul.
Back then we didn't Netflix and Chill, she'd come over and we'd listen to records (LPs) and dance. Far more romantic. If you had a killer record collection, a fairly good cook (no DoorDash back then) and a good dancer with some smooth moves... you were "In Like Flynn" (look it up). 😉
Yes!!! You’d call your friends and tell em to come over and bring their records. Good times!
In like "Flint."
@@HelenLouie The saying is 'in like Flynn' - there was a movie called In Like Flint, which was a play on words
I grew up in the era of this beautiful music with no auto tones just pure talent. Bee Gees are phenomenal. Love your reaction. Get ready for the awesome ride!!!!
More People listening to music like this in the world - would make for a better world
And this talent, the artists who are songwriters, performers without autotune - we need more of these too
Amen! I'm just about over all this "battle dissing" crap. Just more division.. I'm going to watch reactors who don't react to that other drama!
@@cindyherring1998been over that mess for years now, it’s not productive.
I found your channel looking for Bee Gees reactions. I am 59 years old and the Bee Gees are my favorite group and Elvis my favorite singer.
'LOL todays music is 'junk food' , great description !
82 years old and was digging watching you as much as I did listening to the Bee Gees. Happy you enjoyed it.
