Your excitement is contagious. This was the first time a drum loop was ever used to record a song. They already had all the songs written for their new album when they were approached to write songs for the movie Saturday Night Fever. They told the producers that they were in Paris recording and didn't have time but they could hear what they already had written and the producers ended up using every song they showed them. At that point they wrote the movie around the songs. It was a low budget film that just exploded. I think it was because of the music. Pretty awesome.
This was one of the movies I ever saw that wasn’t the “village-pictures” showings of Charlie Chaplin or Laurel & Hardy. At home, the radio was monopolised by parents, and we weren’t indoors much anyway, even the kids who had TVs (our house didn’t) So EVERY SONG in Saturday Night Fever just burst on us as we sat in out town’s new giant cinema. 1300 kids and teenagers going crazy with it.
You have no idea how massive how life enhancing this track was. When Stayin Alive hit I was working on the QE2 week in week out transatlantic crossings. Id go to a club in London and it was Stayin Alive four days later Id be in New York and it was Stayin Alive pumping in the NY clubs then Id be back on the ship and it was Stayin Alive pumping in the crew bars on QE2. In the middle of the bloody Atlantic it was massive ! Stayin Alive was global in a way never known before. And it was the London and New York club scene that drove it: not radio. It was groundbreaking on another level. If you were alive then its a track in your bloodstream forever.
Yes those were the times back then that there was real music, real talented songwritters and non-autotuned performers.i.e.one of today's acts could make 3-4 songs if he sampled a Bee Gees song that were highly filled up with clever hooks and self written melodies. You could even hear real acoustic strings in a dance song.Such a feverishly creative era.

Yes, pre-internet, unless you bought thr album and the lyrics were in the liner notes (not always) you pretty much had to guess at them. Which made for some pretty interesting interpretations. There are websites of "misheard lyrics" where people post what they *thought* the lyrics said and then get an answer of what they actually say. It can be very funny.
#flexer. Bought the SNF album in 78 and used to dance around in the living room with my few months old daughter on my hip. Great memories. Her smile was bigger than mine
É muito bom ver jovens conhecendo os Bee Gees. Eles eram e ainda são os melhores. Vc precisa ouvir "Nights on Broadway", "From Whom the Bell Tolls", "I Could Not Love You More", "Winds of Chance (alive version)" e muitas e muitas outras. Eu poderia fazer uma lista quase interminável. Continue fazendo reacts dos Bee Gees. 😊🇧🇷
I was in college when this came out. I was into The Bee Gees since 1970. I like the 60s/early 70s stuff better. My favorite is “I Started A Joke” from 1968. BTW, Sesame Street did a take on Saturday Night Fever called Sesame Street Fever. It was a whole album of songs in the same disco beat. I used it with my preschool class . They loved it.
I love your reaction(s) especially to The BeeGees. I don't know how old you are, but at 60 I know I'm way, WAY, older than you, LOL. But, of course, still way younger than The BeeGees. I first saw the BeeGees in 1975 on a chart show on TV doing Nights on Broadway. Well, it was then that my little 11-year-old girl heart was captured by Barry. I had no idea what was happening to me, but I instantly had the biggest crush. I don't really remember when I first heard Stayin' Alive, but I do know that my (girl)friends and I would check the charts on all the songs of Saturday Night Fever and if they would be shown during the pop TV shows. Then of course we'd park ourselves right in front of the TV set and be glued to it whenever they were on and often afterward would call each other on the phone (LANDLINES!!!!) and swoon and giggle and talk about how freaking handsome Barry was, LOL. That was 1977, when I was 13 and they pretty much dominated the charts that year, and all the popmagazines featured them so we could all fill our scrapbooks with the photos and articles. And of course we plastered the walls of our (pre) teen rooms with posters of them, especially Barry (and Andy). Ah, childhood memories, LOL.
It was crazy back in the '70's. Like another viewer said, people were out dancing every night. One thing was how DISCO and ROCK & ROLL were butting heads. ROCK people thought DISCO would take over and people would quit making ROCK. Which is crazy. There were folks that liked DISCO but they wouldn't admit it. Good music will always be good music. I'd go dancing on Friday nights and Saturday too. Usually at least one other night too..
Check out some post-fever era Bee Gees. Try "Fallen Angel", "I Surrender", "Kiss of Life" , or "Alone" all upbeat. if you prefer their softer side try "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "How To Fall In Love Pt 1", "Heart Like Mine" or "My Lover's Prayer". Love your Bee Gees reactio - please keep it going!!
Love the Bee Gees, love the Beatles and Stones. One under the radar singer from the '60s is Tommy James. Had hits in the 60s but in the 80s, his songs were rerecorded by different artists. At one time in the 80s, he had written the #1 and #2 songs on the charts performed by different artists.
Saturday Night Fever (Opening Credits) that's where you hear this song where Tony (John Travolta) was walking down the street back in Brooklyn NY, my neighborhood!!! Love this you brought me back home when I was a kid. Go watch the opening credits to that movie you'll see and hear it. And YES the Italian guys did double up the pizza like that. And just about every Italian guy both talked and acted like that too. I grew up in that neighborhood went to that club, a few years later I was only 13 when this movie came out in 1977, 2001 Odyssey and the dance floor was way smaller in real life they actually made it bigger for the movie. The dance studio was on 86th st in Bklyn (Brooklyn) I went there a few years later too. The Verrazano Bridge was close to my house too along with the White Castle too. I'd take my walks every Saturday and Sunday and the Italian guys with there tight shorts on and white tight tee shirts would be washing there cars lol to me they were funny why you gotta wash you car 2 days in a row piezan??? Lol being Italian myself I made fun of them not to there face of course lol I do a really good imitation of them lol but I loved them too it was always in jest lol and frankly I miss the buzz outta them hey oh hey dont toucha my car I breaka you face lol. Man I really miss those times and what it was like back then. Watching that movie always brings me back. And not only the Bee Gees but do there brother too Andy Gibb too I loved him oh my gosh he always looked and sounded like Barry too. Peace.
You probably saw it in Arthur and the Minimoys or Arthur and the Invisibles (2006). It's a combined live action and cartoon movie starring Freddie Highmore. This was played while they were hanging out with Snoop Dogg.
John travolta in Saturday night fever. You are right, don’t need to know the words, the music to die for. I was born 1950 and this music still makes me move. Thanks for your genuine response.
It is the song that definitely affects people the first time. Then to be able to see the video reminiscing on how many times you love that song and didn't know it was Bee Gees. It's really cool having you share your same feeling we had listening. I don't know if I want to admit this, but for several years, every day, I love to listen to reactions to Stayin' Alive. Also Too Much Heaven. It's impossible to overdose. You gave a great reaction to the song you discovered you loved again so much.
Your reaction made my day! So cool that you actually know their names. Hang in there with the Bee Gees, there's SO MUCH more to these super-talented brothers! God bless.
I listen to this song every day. It was released 1978. I was married 1977. If it had been released in 1977, it would have been one of the songs in my wedding. A little background. Barry Gibb (middle) September 1, 1946. He and his wife Linda have been married for 53 years. They have 4 sons and one daughter who is the youngest. Also, 7 grandchildren. Barry's chest is shiny with blotches because when he was about 18 months, he pulled a pot of hot tea from off of a table. His mom said he didn't speak for a long time (close to 2 years.) He was close to dying because there was no skin grafting back then and gangrene was beginning to set in. Barry said he has no memory of it happening, just the scars to prove. Robin (on our left - long hair) and Maurice (on our right - short hair) were fraternal twins. Maurice Gibb (December 22, 1949 - January 12, 2003) heart attack, while getting surgery for twisted intestines. Survived by wife and 2 adult children. Robin Gibb (December 22, 1949 - May 20, 2012) doctors found out he had the same intestine problems as Maurice. When they went in to fix it, they found cancer. He is survived by wife and 4 adult children. Andy Gibb (March 5, 1958 - March 10, 1988) He was too young to sing with his brothers. He had his own successful career. He and Barry could have been identical twins. He had a bad heart. Andy is survived by one daughter. You know the song 'Emotion' sung by Destiny's Child? Well --- the brothers wrote the song (1977) for the singer Samantha Sang. Destiny's Child has too much drama in it. But Barry said he liked it. Emotion th-cam.com/video/b_wTZjo9azk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Y863cKzsfSsxKiTP They wrote their own songs and wrote and produced songs for a lot of other artists. Barry didn't always sing in falsetto. They were asked if someone could sing falsetto on a song. Barry volunteered, and the rest is history. Robin sings falsetto too. On a side note, the first born is their sister, Lesley (Gibb) Evans. She can sing, but she did not want to be in the limelight. She lives a quiet life. She and Barry are the last two survivors of the family. (Their parents are deceased also.) Maurice passed away on Lesley's 58th birthday. They were so popular that some radio stations had a 'Bee Gees free' weekend. NO requests for their songs. There's so much to write about them. In your spare time, I think you'll like what they have contributed to the music industry. I just fell in love with you a little bit more because of your reaction to my childhood heartthrobs....you captured EXACTLY how I feel when I hear The Bee Gees and younger brother Andy. I teleport right back to my tiny bedroom waiting for the radio to play these songs!!!
REST IN POWER...ROBIN AND MAURICE GIBB...WE LOVE YOU! BARRY IS STILL HONOURING Y'ALL'S LEGACY! * The BEE GEES were originally called, THE BROTHERS GIBB! ^..^🙀
💗I first heard this when it came out. I was 13/14. I liked Robin I thought Barry was a show-off. I also thought Maurice was old but now I know he was the youngest of the three. If only by 40 minutes.
I wouldn't trade growing up in the seventies to any other era. We had fun clean music and loved disco dancing. Black soul music and disco was the thing. Check out some black groups from the seventies like Ojays, Commodores, Chilies, Marvin Gaye and so many others This was the era of dance music!!! Thanks for taking me back in time!!
Normally when someone realises they have heard a song before, it kills the reaction. This time it made it.
Is this not the beat for CPR? Barry was such a heart throb, and now that we're old, he is because he's been such a man of honor.
Ironically, so is 'Another One Bites The Dust'
Isn’t it lovely when we can step across the ages I’m 78 and love the joy of ppl finding music that brings joy.
I can't wait for you to reach to Jive Talkin, Tragedy, Nights on, Fanny Be Tender, How Deep Is Your Love, and so so many more. ❤

Love this song!
Your reaction to this is everything. I love you. This made my day ❤
Two of my favorite Bee Gee song were two of their later hits, For Wom the Bell Tolls and "One".
Love your reaction to staying alive….. You have such an loving reaction… . Bee gees is real music… They are amazing…
Were the same age you remember Tiger Beat? Lol I cant remember the rest at the moment.
I think (To much Heaven) is their best song, (Stayin alive) being the second but they had so many great hits. Love the Bee Gees!
Song is “ Too Much Heaven”
It was crazy back in the '70's. Like another viewer said, people were out dancing every night. One thing was how DISCO and ROCK & ROLL were butting heads. ROCK people thought DISCO would take over and people would quit making ROCK. Which is crazy. There were folks that liked DISCO but they wouldn't admit it. Good music will always be good music. I'd go dancing on Friday nights and Saturday too. Usually at least one other night too..
You should do some more country reactions like kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton they did a duet called Islands in the stream The Bee Gees wrote it.
❤ heard in high school had loved the Bee Gees long before that but this was the start of their disco songs.
Spot on about the reactions and reliving our memories together ❤
Check out some post-fever era Bee Gees. Try "Fallen Angel", "I Surrender", "Kiss of Life" , or "Alone" all upbeat. if you prefer their softer side try "For Whom the Bell Tolls", "How To Fall In Love Pt 1", "Heart Like Mine" or "My Lover's Prayer". Love your Bee Gees reactio - please keep it going!!
Such a great song. Remember when it came out.
Love your reaction, so good😃
Oh yes!!!😍
Thats wy I love the Bee Gees. Every Song is a surprice ❤❤❤
Tommy James and the Shondells Crimson And Clover... Prince did a cover of that song too. :)
YAY - BEE GEES!!! LOVE 'EM!!! :)
Great reaction!!
Man I just love your energy and smiles in all your videos recaps 😂 ❤
You made my day. Makes my heart smile.
Incidentally, there is no tonal correction on this song. Live or otherwise. Whenever they performed it. From when I was about 5...
Guardians of the Galaxy! ❤
Iconic opening scene/credits - my first encounter with this song (46 or so years ago): th-cam.com/video/HVEqy6K18Yo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dXl2rMq-BG4CTqNr
The heart of disco.
you made me smile
My very first concert 50 years ago was the Bee Gees ❤ For me they are the best vocal group, but my all time favorite is Elvis Presley ❤️
John Travolta from Saturday Night Fever strutted to this one...😂
That smile on the first beat warms my heart. I could watch your reactions all day.
Your videos bring me so much joy
Super fun! 🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️
Your smile is contagious.😊
Great reaction young man.
John Travolta, lead actor in FEVER The Bee Gees sang throughout the whole film. Its a great LPs check it out.
It fills my ❤ with happiness to watch you loving this song as much as I danced on it 45 years ago! 😁
Love this, & them!!!!

They wrote their own songs and wrote and produced songs for a lot of other artists.
I recommend the following songs:

Check out some black groups from the seventies like Ojays, Commodores, Chilies, Marvin Gaye and so many others
This was the era of dance music!!! Thanks for taking me back in time!!
