  • Most RJ45 connectors on the market need to be used with an RJ45 crimping tool. If you want a high-performance patch cable in the field, field termination plugs are your prior option. 👍
This Cat8 toolless connector is a great choice. The maximum performance of this shielded Cat8 connector can reach the speed of 40 Gbps. It also supports PoE technology. In addition, this field termination plug is easy to install, which is great for both novices and professionals.

Why is the braided shield wire wrapped and then twisted put of the way? Shouldn't it be twisted and folded straight back to make contact with the terminal casing for a complete shielded wire?

Thanks for your question. Both ways are OK as long as the shielded braiding is wrapped around the cable jacket to offer an excellent grounding.

I looked at the spec sheet and it says this connector is good for 26 awg wire. I have Cat 8 Cable SSTP with 26 awg wire, can I use this and get full spec data transmission on a short 20m run?

You should also check the outer diameter. If it is OK, this field termination plug can theoretically achieve your desired data transmission.

Well, the Cat8 cable is thicker than the cat6a cable.
