    If you are using the Ebony stain and finishing oil on painted cabinets and want them to remain as dark as possible how many coats do you think you would need? And you still need to remove the excess, correct? Basically I want my cabinets to be black but I want the extra protection of the stain and finishing oil. Would you start with the fusion mineral paint black and then finish with the stain and finishing oil?

      Best to use a coaster as the heat/ humidity causes the rings. This happens with most top coats.

    • @kaibe5241
      @kaibe5241 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can also try getting someone to do a resin protection skin over the top, which will give it an extremely hardy and durable finish, and prevents those sorts of things (if you don't want to use coasters).

    Painting shelves for my pantry which are raw wood. Using cappuccino sfo but want then to have some shine, so going over in the natural sfo, do I have to stand in between any of my coats or can I just paint, paint, paint??

    Can you mix the finishing oils? I'd like to see what a combo between driftwood and cappucino would be like :)

    • @FusionMineralPaints
      @FusionMineralPaints  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In theory they are blendable. We do recommend testing your methods first. And if mixing them doesn't work the way you want, you can always layer different colours over each other!

    Hi, I have a 14 year old maple desk. I purchased the cappuccino stain today. Would you recommend sanding the piece first. It does look like it has a shiny top coat on it. Thank you!

    • @FusionMineralPaints

      If you don't have an even surface, the stain will not penetrate in areas where there is a previous coating, we reccomend evening out your entire surface if you want a consistent look.

    I purchased double espresso and I used it to stain the top for a table I'm working on. I noticed an off gas smell, not as bad as the store bought. I want to use it on old stairs I have, is it ok to use in a fixed location such as stairs as far as off gassing goes?

    I put waterbased stain on my shelf but hate the colour. The shelf is made with maple plywood (so a veneer over plywood). If I sand off the waterbased stain (as best I can....I had also used a wood conditioner so I'm sure I won't be able to get it all off), can I used the driftwood over top or do I have to stick with a waterbased stain now?

    • @FusionMineralPaints
      @FusionMineralPaints  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can put the oil based fusionmineralpaint.com/products/finish/stain-finishing-oil/ right over top- no sanding needed. It will adhere and cover well!

    Can you give me in detail how to apply driftwood sfo on stairs. Is it durable. Do I have to sand and put a top coat

    • @FusionMineralPaints
      @FusionMineralPaints  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes very durable, simply apply and wipe back to a clean surface. It has a built in top coat. Sanding may be necessary depending on the look you want, but if you're fin ejust applying this over top of the current finish then you'll be fine to do that, knowing the under colour may peak through a bit.

    Hi! I love this SFO. However, I just used it on my painted surface and I think I didn't wipe back enough in the crevices on the side of my dresser and a few spots on the top. There are shiny parts. :( What do I do now? Can I add natural SFO and then wipe it back well to get an even sheen or will that just makes the shiny parts still stand out? Or should I do another coat of the colored or how do I even that out? Thank you for any help!

    • @FusionMineralPaints
      @FusionMineralPaints  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes that's what happens when it isn't wiped back. You can leave it to fully ry and cure, however the shiny spots will still look a bit different, you may want to add a coat of clear across - or if you wait 7 days until cured, give it a light sanding to even it out, then apply a coat of HTTPS://FUSIONMINERALPAINT.COM/PRODUCTS/FINISH/STAIN-FINISHING-OIL/ natural.

    • @FusionMineralPaints
      @FusionMineralPaints  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can wipe it back with odorless solvent now, or leave it to fully cure for 7 days, then re-paint over it. Next time when you apply it, apply it evnely and remove all excess with a spare applicator pad or lint free cloth and this wont happen :)

    • @dominiquegianni-embrey2552
      @dominiquegianni-embrey2552 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What kind of solvent? Does Fusion have a product? Would I use a solvent to wipe the excess off and do anything else? Or would I need to do the process over? And, will it always take 7 days to cure or is it because it’s sticky?

    • @FusionMineralPaints
      @FusionMineralPaints  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dominiquegianni-embrey2552 Any mineral spirits solvent or Our Odourless Solvent. All oil based products take minimum 7-10 days to cure. Because too much was left on that is why it is sticky, not because of the curing time- but now you'll have to give it even more time to let it dry and not be tacky.

    • @bayashka
      @bayashka 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t think stain can be applied over the paint because stain gets soaked into the wood, but the paint would act as a protector on the wood.

      One can covers up to about 75 sqft but it depends on the type and preparation of the surface. Less dense wood like balsa or cedar will absorb more stain, and more dense woods like oak will take less.
