BTS stands for (B)ang(T)an (S)onyeondan, which means bulletproof boyscouts. And yes, this is a love song for ARMY. So many things to say, so prepare yourself cause this is gonna be a long one. There are many theories about a lot of stuff in this MV, so im gonna try to break down a lot of the easter eggs and my personal interpretation of it. 1. The song was co-written and co-produced by Coldplay. Chris Martin makes a cameo in the video as the news archor when they report on the light beam that showed up in the sky, and he also sings a few adlibs during the song (the oooohh ooohhh ohhhh). Jin released this song shortly before he left for the military in December 2022. He didn't have time to make a full album but he wanted to give ARMY one last song before he left, so he made astronaut with Coldplay and asked them if he could perform it with them during their tour at least once before he left. He ended up traveling over 30+ hours from Korea to Argentina just to perform the song and appear on stage one final time for ARMY before he had to go. In the MV you can see a guitar in Jin's room which is the guitar that coldplay signed and gifted to Jin. Also important to note that BTS has a song with coldplay called "My Universe" which, along with coldplay's entire "Music of the Spheres" album plays into the space theme just like this song. 2. The song itself in terms of concept has a lot of meaning and history. Jin is the eldest member of BTS and was already 19-20 yo when he joined BTS and become a trainee (for reference JungKook, the youngest, was 13-14 and had just graduated MIDDLE school) . Before joining, Jin had never wanted to sing or dance, he intended to become an actor, so learning those skills from 0, specially at his age, was really hard for him. He says that before BTS/ARMY he was a much darker person, he was like an asteroid just drifting in the darkness without a destination. The space theme echoes in his solo songs and some of BTS songs as a group (Moon, My Universe, Microkosmos). Jin's song called Moon (back from 2020, 2 years before this collab) uses the Earth and the Moon as metaphors for his relationship with ARMY. He says that he is the Moon and ARMY is the Earth, the Earth is what gives the Moon purpose to exist, and the Moon is one of the many "stars" that shines upon the Earth. (It is also inspired by the book/movie of "The Little Prince"). 3. In the MV for astronaut you can see many drawings in the wall that show that Jin is an astronaut that comes from the moon and crashes his ship on earth. Once he gets to earth he meets a little girl. This little girl represation has been used many times in BTS songs and she represents ARMY. While on Earth the astronaut misses his home, he has many space themed objects in his room, the solar system, the posters, the telescope, but he also becomes friends with the little girl, he teaches her how to ride a bike, and she drags him to do the goofy fun stuff with her like taking polaroids and jumpin around the sprinklers. However one day, the ship that had crashed on earth is finally taking off, Jin sees that on the news and decides to go back to his planet, his home. He gets his helmet and gives it to the little girl so that she can ride her bike on her own safely while he is gone and runs towards the ship. While trying to get to the ship many things are telling Jin to stop, multiple people bump into him, there are many stop signs that show up in the background of the video as he walks down the street, but he continues to move forward, only stopping when he sees an astronaut, something he's very familiar with but that is out of place in that setting. However when he gets closer and sees his own reflection, he turns his head seemingly confused, he himself doesn't look like an astronaut anymore, being on earth has changed him, the little girl changed him. While he rides his bike to get to the ship he begins to remember all the memories he made with the little girl, he remembers when he taught her how to ride her bike and standind proud when she finally did it. We then see him standing in front of the ship and we get transported into a purple (ARMY's color) space/void/universe room in which he marvels at and thinks of the little girl again when she gifted him a drawing, we then come back to the moment the ship is leaving and he decides to stay, beccause he realizes that his home is with ARMY, that purple universe is with him at all times, even if he has to leave for a while (going to the military for 18 months), he is always going to come back to his home, his earth, his heaven, his purple universe, his ARMY. In the end Jin manages to catch a ride in a truck which could be a call back to the truck they used in another song, he admires the view of his new planet but all he sees is a huge desert, which is beautiful to the point of bringing you to tears when you know that BTS has used desert/sea metaphor for their relationship with ARMY many times, they say that together even the desert becomes the sea (which also makes me think of the Whalien 52 and Sea songs and how is it that they make everything so well connected and with so much meaning, geniuses these boys are, truly), this kind of love they have for their fans makes a lot more sense when you know more of their story in the music industry and all the hardships they went through. As he looks at the view they show the drawing the little girl made, of them playing together on Earth "home", and it's possible to see the word ARMY written in braille on his neck. To finish off the song, Jin decided to stay/come back to earth, to his home. He finishes the crossword puzzle he was doing in the beginning with the word "Family", we can also see the words "ARMY", "cozy", "moon", "star" and "astronaut", then we can hear the bell from the bycicle of the little girl, meaning that she is gonna be there waiting for him to return just as he is always going to keep coming back to her, it's also kind of special because one of the possible names that they intended to call their fans was "bell" (in korean it makes more sense), but eventually they chose to call us ARMY. 3. Oh my! Thank you so much for all of this! I’ll be sure to rewatch it with this in mind! I’ve also pinned this so I (and others) can reference it if we miss stuff! 💜
@@ReactionsThatRock Just found your channel, I know I'm a bit late on this one, but do note: The little girl in the video is 9. (For the video, not sure about real age.) At the time of the video, ARMY had been given their fan name 9 years prior. The little girl? She *is* ARMY...not as in "a fan of the group", but rather, as in "representing the whole fandom in one being".
10:00 I've wondered if the phrase "I get heaven to myself" is a reference to the fact that Jin will be the first released from active duty and it'll be four months before the next member gets out. So it'll be four months of "just" him and ARMY. Little did he realize how delulu we'd be by the time he gets out! 😂
The best thing about this is the karma. Haters criticised BTS for covering a Coldplay song a few years prior. Coldplay gifting Jin a song, playing backup when he performed it, and referring to BTS as their brothers... World peace is possible.
@ReactionsThatRock there's a cameo of Chris in this MV and the song they have together is "My Universe". There's a live performance of both songs if you get a chance. 😊💜
@@crystalsnow1138 Also Coldplay are legendary for not letting almost anybody cover their songs.. But they gave BTS that permission for Fix You! and we know how that turned out. 💜 Then they did a song together (and the mini documentary about that is one of the most heart warming thing ever! Chris giving that guitar to Jin.. and I have to pause and blow my nose about a half an hour..), and Chris learning to sing the Korean parts when Coldplay perform it without BTS, and Coldplay performing it LIVE also with literal BTS HOLOGRAMS ! (Future is here and "Future's Gonna Be Okay*" ! *Agust D) AND Then they gifted Jin this song - that also Chris's son had participated making! - for Jin's goodbye song to ARMY..
I would only add to this that at least one person who hated on BTS was more than a hater. He was a racist xenophobe who said BTS was a virus that a vaccine was needed for, and they deserved a “vacation in North Korea” - at the height of the pandemic when Asian hate was rampant. The man was a German DJ and he was mad BTS covered “Fix You” on “MTV Unplugged” - which Coldplay had to give them the rights to sing, and the band was very publicly complimentary about when the performance was posted. ARMY all over the world worked to shame the radio station where this DJ worked into doing more releasing an “it was just a joke - his own brand of humor.” He ended up being removed from the show, and (I believe??) eventually let go altogether.
Hi. It’s me again. The 47 year old poison fan from Iowa.Jin is my favorite. It has nothing to do with music. It’s because of things like this song. This is a song dedicated to the army, those of us who he loves and was going to have to leave for the military. The song is keeping us strong until he comes back in June. He is genuinely one of the most beautiful humans on the planet inside and out. Thank you for your reaction and we purple you.
Watch jin live with cold play in Argentina. He got to perform live before go to the military. Was his good bye too us for a little.Jin coming back June this year.miss jin
Agree about reacting to Jin & Coldplay in Argentina. Please start the video when Chris Martin introduces Jin, then you'll know what BTS means to Coldplay and vice versa. The Astronaut is about Jin's love of his fans(ARMY), & that he had to leave them for a while to go into the military. His release from the military should be around June 12, 2024, just in time for BTS 11th Anniversary on June 13 (FESTA).These guys are multi-talented, yet remain humble & positive.💜
Yes! This was a love song to ARMY, right before he had to go into the Korean military. The little girl represents ARMY, and when he puts that helmet on her head and sends her on the bicycle it makes me tear up because he's saying "You're going to be on your own for a little while, but you can do this, I'll be here, even if I can't be with you." Also, Cris Martin does sing in this, but he let Jin shine in the vocals. The video of Jin and Chris singing this live is awesome. Chris helped Jin with this song to ARMY.
Hi i'm from Mendoza Argentina thanks for Your honest reactions, i'm crying rigth nos AGAIN haha This song was so significagive to the ARMY because he was the first of them who has to love to military so... This remind me how mucho love Jin love us, how mucho he love the ARMY... Thanks
Jin bravely went first to the military and knew both his members and Army would be worried about it and missing him. He also knew he'd be starting off something both the guys and Army have worried over for a long time which is the military service time. This song means so much to us and he treated the 10yo Army in the video as his much loved younger sibling (which is very much his relationship with Army and BTS to him). It was so beautiful a gift to us. He has spoiled us by pre-recording a special video message in advance before he left and we have so far gotten one each month. He returns in just a few more months and we cant wait! Our precious traveler is returning to us!!
Jin felt like an alien in the music world, but ARMY (the girl) gave him support and guidance - until he came to understand that his music career and ARMY are home for him. He is the astronaut because astronauts go away, and then come back. The 2 cars that pass him by represents the 2 years that he would be away for.
"If there is a Chris Martin version of this song, he wasn't needed..." Me laughing because 1) Chris Martin wrote the song with Jin and 2) Chris was the Anchor reporting the news and 3) Chris vocals was part of the song. This was totally a Cold Play sounding song.
Aah. Thank you! I really did think it was Better Than Sex before I heard there music and story because that’s such a boy band industry name. I love how wrong I’ve been about these guys!
@@ReactionsThatRock Bangtan Sonyeondan basically means that they want "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets" -J Hope
This whole song is one big metaphor telling the story of Jin’s live. He had never dreamed of becoming a singer, it was a coincidence that he joined BigHit. As an adult he had to learn how to Sind and dance from zero to become a member of BTS. So in a way he was an astronaut crashed in a new world of music industry. This little girl represents ARMY, BTS’s fandom, that has been officially established in June 2013. So at the time of MV release the fandom celebrated 10 years (similar to girl’s age in the MV). The band themselves have faced a lot of challenges on their way to success, but ARMYs have always supported each and every member along the way (all these sweet moments in the video but I wouldn’t stop on each and every of them). The song was released just before his enlistment, and this was a great opportunity to stop their activity as a group especially considering hiatus announced earlier in 2023. They could disband and do whatever they feel like. In MV this is the moment with the space ship coming to Earth to take Jin to any new world. But Jin has already found his happiness. He feels at “home” in music industry and has his “family” being his BTS members (as they often refer to each other). You course words “home” and “family” on pictures in the end of the video. Therefore he runs away from the spacecraft and stays on Earth. MV is filled with a lot of moments that make sense for fans but I believe there would be too many details for you for now. Thanks, I’ve enjoyed your reaction and listening to your thoughts 💜
Even without knowing all this stuff the song and video still had a really great feel. One thing I REALLY have to give these guys credit for is that even the songs and videos intended for ARMY have a warming feel for us noobs too. It’s like a good dessert where those of us who don’t know anything think it tastes good… but those that know everything can find the flavor in each layer.
@@ReactionsThatRockwhat a wonderful way of expressing how it makes you feel. That is how I felt when I first started listening to them. Jin’s solo songs are always emotive to the point a few male reactors have actually cried, yet he himself is a massive Cold Play fan and his favourite type of music is Rock!
This may be simply a language issue, but BTS did not "Disband." They have been very clear, emphatic and slightly (or more than slightly) annoyed to have to keep repeating it, that they did not disband, break up or anything like that. They just took a break from group activities because of enlistments.
@@ReactionsThatRock Your dessert metaphor is exactly on point. Their music is layered. One can enjoy the surface layer on it's face, or dig deeper and find the nuance, complexity and depth of the other layers. The music stands up to either sort of scrutiny by locals/muggles and ARMY alike.
Yes, this is a love song for Army. A boy in love with 50m people. Chris Martin is all through the song, wrote and produced it, and they (Coldplay) performed the music. You would definitely enjoy the live performance that Jin made with Coldplay while they were touring in Argentina. Very moving. You would also enjoy Jin singing Awake, and Epiphany.
I’ll be sure to check out all of those! I was surprised to hear he didn’t start as a singer as his voice sounded so natural and sincere which is HARD to teach.
For Jin, his iconic song for me is old solo song "Awake" (released in 2016). The sounds is more like an orchestra type. It was Jin first solo song in BTS album. It kinda a sad song where he convey what he felt back then.Among BTS members, Jin feels he is not good enough and compared himself with his 6 other members (that he described as 6 petals of flower on that song), who he sees a really talented as a musician (since Jin originally prepared himself become and actor, but the fate bring him become a singer). Behind his confidence there is a laying a self-doubt and uncertainty about himself, that he is not good enough and not talented enough just like his talented members. But, even he feels down, insecure, self doubt about himself, he get a lot of support from his members and Army, so that makes him wont give up and surrender and keeps to fight n struggle to overcome his weakness as a singer. Even he will covered with so many wounds in the process to be a better singer and artist, but he wont to give up from this dream. Hope u can check that song, but it didnt have MV tho (only short movie but it's for BTS universe story telling). But u can check on video lyrics. What makes me like this song, beside the lyrics, Jin beautiful yet sad voice, it's also the orchestra sounds. It feels kinda unique. It same sounds with Jimin old solo song "Lie" that also have orchestra sounds, but Jimin's "Lie" is sounds more have intense emotion n mysterious that feels will haunting you. While Jin's "Awake", is more calm yet emotional that will makes u can feels his sadness but also a glimpse light of hope.
You should check out the live performance of the Astronaut Jin did with Coldplay during the world tour stop in Argentina. It was his last performance before enlisting in the military and Chris Martin gave a beautiful speech before Jin came out.
@@ReactionsThatRock Make sure it's the video that includes Chris' introduction of Jin. It makes it that much better. And just to show my age, I had a Wolfman Jack flashback while listening to you. 😁
You're right on with Jin and Army. This was his farewell song to fans before entering the military, and the little girl represents Army.. My Universe is the Coldplay/BTS collaboration you're looking for.
@ReactionsThatRock But Coldplay is the band and Chris Martin and son are doing the background vocals on this song and, as already mentioned, the live in Argentina with Jin and Coldplay will never not make ARMYs cry. Yes, My Universe and the behinds of it are awesome. They have cultivated a beautiful friendship over the years. In addition to the posters on the wall and Chris as the newsman on the TV, you can see one of his favorite guitars that he gifted Jin here in the astronaut's room. There's a great Bangtan 💣 on the channel of the two groups hanging out in NYC (during BTS's trip to the UN) just eating, hanging out and jamming My Universe acoustically in the Apollo Theater. You know, just casually. 😅 It was then that Jin got the guitar from Chris. I know...way too much info. 😂
@11:00 Jin actually had no singing or dancing experience when he joined BTS.... he was cast off the street when he was getting off a bus on his way to uni one day.... he was actually training to become an actor, but they convinced him to join BTS instead.... he has worked extremely hard to become the Idol he is today. Jin is the oldest member of BTS. BTS stands for BangTan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boyscouts) Korean: 방탄소년단 the name signifies the group's desire "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets" ARMY stands for Adorable Representative MC for Youth... ARMY is the military while BTS is the armour, which is a metaphor for how the band and its fans stick together... the implication of a military force is intentional as ARMY stand in solidarity with BTS in their fight. I hope you have a wonderful day💜
@@ReactionsThatRock... Yeah that's correct, Jin had no real musical experience before getting scouted. Only acting, which he was taking at college. He had to learn dance & vocals starting at zero for about 2 years in pre-debut training & also thereafter. He was already in his late teens by then. To give them a head start, most parents start their kids around age 5 in extracurricular skills, such as piano lessons, little league sports, swimming, ballet, martial arts, computers, gymnastics, etc. It was a good thing that Jin did not have inherent Amusia, or else his training would have been even more difficult or he would have been let go sooner than later. But one thing that Jin had prior was some exposure to Hiphop music (BTS' foundation is hiphop) due to his older brother, so the familiarity with that music genre, along with not having amusia, was probably a sign of destiny calling.
@@robwebnoid5763 In context: RM/Namjoon had no dancing experience. Suga/Agust D/Yoongi did some dancing but the shoulder injury lead to him disliking it. J-Hope (Hobi) danced the right style but learned rap in the dorm from ca. the beginning of 2011. None of the vocalline sang before. Jimin learned for about half a year by sitting in on Taehyung/V's and JK's vocal lessons but had none of his own till years into their career. Dancing? Jimin was a dancer, yes, but for the wrong style and had to - in a way - relearn everything on the dancestyle. (see also HYBE's recent T&D content). The other two? Could not dance either. They were taught - JK even getting a short dance program in the USA to help him relax more into it. This is literary what a trainee is. None of them are "perfect". They are all taught something.
Love your reaction! Seokjin has so much love that it resonates through his songs. And yes, this is a love song written by both Coldplay and Jin for Armys. 💜
Jin left on 12/22 for mandatory military service and asked Cris Martin, who is his friend (and from BTS), to collaborate on making a song “see you later”. Jin had already made a song called Moon, where he said “I am the moon and the army is my land”. Upon seeing that his ship has been repaired, he prepares to return to his planet and says goodbye to his neighbor friend. Then he goes to meet his ship on his bicycle (Any reference to ET?). Details: he gives the helmet to the girl (meaning: “be safe”); the girl is about 10 years old, Army age; the bicycle is purple (Army color); the black spaces in the crossword puzzle he did spelled out the word Army in braille. In this friendship, he taught the girl to ride a bike and learned from her to be happier and to enjoy simple things that make him express new emotions. When it's time to board the ship, he remembers those good times and decides to return, as he realizes that now he belongs here. Then return to your earthly home. Details: your trip to the desert is the period of military service; in the crossword puzzle between the words there, he writes ‘family’; Back in his room, he smiles, seeing that he made the best choice. Here is now your home. When he hears the bicycle bell, he becomes even happier, because his friend was waiting for him to return to continue playing, just as the Army will be waiting for him to return from military service (bell was also a name considered to name the fandom, before the army). . I am the Brazilian army!!
It's a love song from Jin (of BTS) to ARMY (name of BTS fandom)...from the Artist to his fans before enlisting in the military. We miss him dearly and the rest of Bangtan. 😭💜
As one OG metalhead from the 80s to another, doesn't this song give you like 80s synth wave vibes, like a-ha's Take On Me, Tears for Fears Mad World or Modern English's Melt With You? I see the shades of John Hughs and the Brat Pack movies and the radio greats of that era.
This was 100% a modern Brat Pack movie soundtrack! I had to listen to it again as i didn’t pick up on that the first go around and it’s got much better production and polishing but this definitely would fit in with anything Molly Ringwald was in!
I really love Jin. His vocals make me feel the emotions of a song. Most of their videos have deeper meanings ( Fake Love and Blood, Sweat, &Tears) are amazing videos. The great thing about BTS is that there is so much below the surface of their songs and videos. It really all depends on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go. You can stay at surface level and enjoy the music itself, you can take their songs and apply meaning to the lyrics/videos for your own interpretation, or you can delve into their deeper meanings and symbolism as explained by them. They are masters of taking very deep topics/concepts and weaving them throughout multiple albums in such a way that it really makes you think. Their music is cross generational, it is relatable to young and old ( 50+ ARMY here, I guess they would call me a Silver ARMY, though I’ll be coloring my hair until I die😂). No matter your age you can find something that relates to your life or situation. They sincerely love their fans and I don’t know if any other artist who puts as much thought and love for their fans. It’s not a token thing for the members, they truly want us to love and be loved, be happy, lean on their songs for strength when we need to, push past the hard times because we are not alone, and fly to our highest potential.
I was actually just talking to my wife about this last night! She’s went to college for writing and has quite a few manuscripts and TV show scripts she’s shopping around right now so I KNEW she’d appreciate the depth of the imagery and symbolism in these songs/videos. She hasn’t been bit yet by BTS but she’s really interested in the writing aspect of their videos because of the symbols and continuity of themes. She also agrees with me that it’s refreshing to see a down to earth group of musicians who do it for the fans and not the bank statements.
Jin is using the metaphor of being an astronaut to say goodbye for now to ARMY before his military service. Coldplay wrote this song for him and they are the band on this song. Chris Martin is doing the backing vocals. Now, Coldplay performs this song in concert, and Chris learned the Korean lyrics to sing it. They have an amazing friendship.
Thank you for your reaction. I like how open-minded you are. And speaking of rock, though, you'll be surprised... Jin's voice fits so well in rock songs, we are eagerly awaiting his solo album and hoping there'll be some rock in it!
I think Jin has the perfect pop ballad voice. The vocal coaches I know are impressed with his powerful belt, piercing mix and beautiful falsetto. I believe the highest note he can hit is a Bb5. Feel free to correct me, ARMY! But, for me, his greatest skill is how much emotion he puts into his voice. Check out his solo song, Epiphany. Its a good blend of his technical skill and emotive singing.
I’m not a vocal guy… just a guy who got paid to talk about music long ago… so I couldn’t correct you if I wanted to. That said, it sounds right to me given the few years I sang in middle school. I’ll be checking out more! Thanks!
I found it very interesting that you mentioned that Jin had one of the most beautiful natural singing voices you have heard so far. You probably dont know this yet but before Jin joined BTS he had practically no singing or dancing experience. He originally wanted to be an actor and auditioned as such at the company (Bighit Entertainment). Only after joining the company did he receive singing lessons. I am always happy to hear people appreciate his singing and just his talents in general (many dismiss him as being a handsome face). I don't want to say too much in this comment about BTS and their history since Im sure you'll check out a guide to them some day and that can explain it much better than me but it was just something I wanted to mention. Oh and also maybe as a rule of thumb: some BTS songs sound like love songs, lyricswise but more often than not there is some hidden meaning behind it. Just like with this one. Thank you for always being so respectful and not dismissing something even when it is not your taste. That is pretty rare to find these days.
Nooo! He wasn´t alone all the time! The little girl! She represent Army...army is10 yrs old! And it is Jins goodbye song before going to the military.....
Ooooh. That makes sense. I didn’t want to think too much in to the relationship with the girl and figured it was just a symbol of kindness. I totally didn’t even connect the dots there!
You got it! This was a song for ARMY (represented by the little girl). Chris Martin wrote it for Jin to sing and Jin wrote the Korean lyrics to it. Coldplay did the instrumental track and background vocals, so you can actually hear Chris Martin harmonizing with Jin occasionally. But the version people meant that has Chris Martin in it is a live version in Argentina. Jin flew there to sing it with Coldplay right before he left for the military. Coldplay have collaborated with BTS before as well on My Universe and that song has a short behind the scenes video where they explain how the collab happened and how Chris flew over to Korea during covid, so he could actually record with BTS in person. Chris stayed in contact with the members afterwards and it was through texting with Jin that Astronaut happened.
That’s so kind! I love seeing the industry veterans working with the younger talent (although, with 10 years in, BTS may have veteran status soon… no military puns intended!). 💜😎🔥
@@ReactionsThatRockyeah we adore their friendship and hope bts will have same longevity as Coldplay. They definitely are mentors to them and they are also kust great people. Chris always mentions them at concerts when he sings My Universe
That's the magic of BTS, just to see them or heard them make us smile. If you get in to it, you could understand our love and admiration for these guys 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

love takes many different forms, it doesn't have to be romantic! :) i think it's one of the lessons bts taught me, to love more. in general. to love myself, to love the world, to love my friends, etc. just more love, wider love, limitless love
There is an actual BTS Universe (BU), but it refers to a fictional storyline that goes though some of BTS' music videos and extra content. It's like super advanced ARMY stuff though 😆
Jin is coming home is less than 100 days from the military. To me, Jin doesn't get enough credit. Jin is the main reason, I'm an ARMY and stuck with BTS. Jin sang a song called, Epiphany. This song hit me hard. It's a song about; before you can love others, you have to learn to love yourself. People are always talking about how good looking he is but he is so much more than that. This man graduated college while in BTS. He also got his masters degree first, while in BTS. Yes, he's amazing looking but he did so much to keep the group going & together. Things like cooking meals, taking Jungkook to school. He's the one that tells people and always speaks up and doesn't let other groups get away with crap. He's such a good man and has been an amazing Older Brother in BTS.
Ah I love hearing that!!! Especially since he’s not entirely good looking to me. 🤣😂 I mean, he might be, but I wouldn’t put it in the top 10 of things I’d noticed or cared about. Regardless, this was one of my favorite songs I’d hear so far because it felt like a real genuine composition from the heart. What’s not to love!?!💕
This is Jin's goodbye song to us (ARMY) before joining the military. Jin asked Chris Martin for a goodbye song, and this is the result. The little girl in the video represents ARMY, and Jin doesn't want to leave us 😭😭😭 (imagine hearing this when the song just dropped). My favorite version of this song is the live in Argentina version with Coldplay 💜💜💜. This was his last performance before military service, and he sang it just weeks before enlistment. Please take a look at this even if you don't react to it. BTS are nearly always better live 💜💜💜 BTS songs nearly always have a deeper meaning. (The only feel good songs from BTS are Dynamic, Butter and Permission to Dance, and these were written to cheer us up during and after COVID). And for those purposes are still great listening.
Yes! Yes! Yes! You get it. MOST BTS songs that sound like "Love Songs" are much deeper than they appear. They are either addressed to ARMY, or to each other **and** ARMY, or are about their own struggles with self-love, etc. The reason the little girl represents ARMY is because the fanbase was about 10 years old when this was released, having been formed in 2013, shortly after their debut. The actual fanbase are majority 30+ in age and more than a third are male, not all young girls. The whole video is stuffed with easter eggs and hidden meaning for fans. Jin landed in the world of music with BTS unexpectedly, like an alien. His life path took a left turn from being an acting major in college when he was cast from off the street to an agency (Big Hit) based on his good looks and was discovered to be a diamond in the rough of a vocalist. Coming much later to music than the other members (he was 18 and they all started with their life's passion as young children) he has struggled with some imposter syndrome and feeling like a stranger in a strange land. He crash landed into our world and then learned to love it here so much that he never wanted to leave. The astronaut suit on the street is also a nod to how he was found on the street by Big Hit. You can hear Chris Martin on the track as backup, since he made this song with Jin. He also has a cameo on the tv as the news guy. Coldplay are good friends with BTS and, in particular, Jin and Chris have a close little brother to big brother relationship. The version of this with Coldplay you were told about actually has everyone in Coldplay, because they invited Jin, and he flew 14 hours, out to Argentina to perform this one song for ARMY at Coldplay's concert on their tour before he had to enlist. It was less than 2 days after the song was released and the Argentinian ARMY already knew it by heart and was singing their hearts out along with him. It's a very sweet performance and everyone was very emotional. If you do watch it, be sure to catch Chris' little speech about BTS before the song. BTS usually is talking about ARMY in their songs when they mention space themes like: lights, galaxy, universe, stars, moon, astronaut, mikrokosmos, etc. This is because ARMY bombs look like a sea of stars from the stage. They call us their "little galaxy" or "little universe." Coldplay has a song with all of BTS. That song is called My Universe, and BTS dedicated it to ARMY, of course. They have many other songs about ARMY, dedicated to ARMY or directly addressing ARMY that are not space themes also, so it was nothing new for us to look for messages directly to and about us in their songs and MVs. Multiple members also released new love songs to ARMY just before they left (or right after they left) for the military. V: Wherever u r with UMI j-hope: On The Street with J Cole Jimin: Closer Than This Jin: The Astronaut RM did not release a specific love song for ARMY but he did a whole other album and it is due to be released any time now. There may be some songs on it that are meant to be addressing ARMY. Jungkook didn't do a specific song for ARMY. However, he has often said that when he does love songs he is always thinking about ARMY and there are several really sweet songs on his album Golden, which came out three months before he enlisted. He also addressed his performance of his song Please Don't Change to ARMY when he performed it in Time's Square. Suga did not do a song directly addressing ARMY, but he gave us a whole ass world tour because he wanted to spend more time with ARMY, and he enlisted directly after his tour, which was the biggest and highest grossing tour for a rapper in world history. They also released a new group love song to ARMY from BTS at Festa, the annual anniversary celebration of their debut on 6/13. This was released after Jin and j-hope had already enlisted and they pre-recorded a live performance for us. That song is called Take Two. Incidentally, Jin did stay in school. All the guys did, on top of their insane schedules, even though most were still in high school when they started training. Jungkook was still in middle school. The youngest three were still in high school when BTS debuted in 2013. Jin now has a Masters degree in theater/acting. All members have bachelor's degrees in different things and several have completed their masters as well.
I only wish I could type a reply as in depth to this! I really appreciate all the info here! You’ve also pointed me towards more songs I clearly need to listen to! As for Jin being an actor, I’d say he nailed this role in the video! If he can dance, he’s a triple threat for sure! 💜😎🔥
@@ReactionsThatRock He is not the only actor. One member has been in a KDrama and that's actually how I found BTS, being a KDrama watcher for more than 15 years. That's V/Taehyung. He was in a historical drama called Hwarang, right on top of BTS' incredibly busy schedule.
I once had a girl lock me in the walk in cooler of a Taco Bell and threaten to kill me with a box cutter if I didn’t kiss her… So that’s probably my greatest love confession. But this is a close second. 🤣
Definitely a song from Jin about his feeling for ARMY, great catch! It’s like a cosmic, intergalactic, multiverse type of love lol😁. Thank you for your reaction 💜
Also, this song came out when I was visiting Korea for the first time, which was super special. He’s actually my bias so being able to listen to this song real time in Korea was super emotional for me. And he did the live concert with Cold Play just a few days after which was also so special. It’s just like Jin (and honestly, all the members) to come out with a song that screams “comfort” while ARMY is still feeling all sorts of things (negative and positive) about their military enlistment. So glad that he is back, and that he sang this live ONE DAY after he got out of the military. So glad you are touched by it and yes, it is a bit heavy on the pop side of things but I think his voice conveys the deeper meaning and emotion of the lyrics really well. Looking forward to more reactions!💜
Amazing job!! Welcome down the rabbit hole. I am 60 and been Army for almost 2 years ( just a babe) and still learning new things about BTS. Its crazy, all of it, what you mentioned, the song grabbing you, they have so many. How much BTS loves Army and the lengths they still go to show their love. I really love how you figured out the song was to Army, ( I cry every time to this song). I also love how you critique yet are not insulting. Keep of the great work!! 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Thank you so much! I’ve got to be honest, my natural disposition is sarcasm, so it’s a daily effort to not come across insulting. It’s never intended that way, but man… some people just don’t do sarcasm well. 🤪 I’m really surprised by these guys. Nothing at all what I thought they were!
BTS stands for BangTan Sonyeondan which roughly translate to Bulletproof Boy Scouts. When they began in 2013, they wanted to protect youth, "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets". Their logo the first couple of years was a bulletproof vest. The idea that the fan base is named ARMY reflects that sentiment.
I love that you figured out that this was an love song to ARMY. It was exactly like you think. They've written a few songs for us and it's the sweetest, most meaningful thing. As you get to know them and eventually check out more of their fan songs, I think they'll be meaningful to you too. ARMY has made fan songs for BTS too. Love Letters was one of them- you can even watch some of the members reacting to it. I don't know if you've had any suggestions for Tae (V) but I'd like to recommend Slow Dancing or Love Me Again, they're from his first album, Layover. I won't spoil it for you, but just like all the other guys, he has a sound all his own. Thank you for checking out the Tannies, I subbed.
Ooh. Welcome to the party! I’ve seen Slow Dancing mentioned a few times so that may be what I go with. I’ve read in comments that V has a bit of a jazzy vibe so we’ll see how that goes. I’m hoping more pop-jazz than lounge singer but either way will be fun!
@@ReactionsThatRock I'd say he falls under R&B and Neo-Soul as well as Jazz. He's done some traditional jazz but his album is more R&B with heavy Jazz influences. It's very much a vibe.
Yes, Coldplay invited Jin to one of their concerts in Argentina to present the song before leaving for military service. Chris Martin and Jin co-wrote The song. Even at the Coldplay concerts he is giving now, Chris sang the song in Korean to pay tribute to Jin.
@@ReactionsThatRock I'm from Argentina and I was at the recital, it was amazing! And seeing Jin was the closest I got to BTS! They never came to my country.
@@ReactionsThatRock Coldplay's relationship with BTS dates back to when they collaborated on Coldplay's song My Universe. From there they are close friends.
i cried every time i watched the the watched the argentina concert video for about 3 days i kept saying “ok i’ll be good now” but then i wasn’t …i 💜Jin (my bias) i’m waiting for June!!!! i tell my daughters the countdown frequently … i’ve been waiting!!!!! i do like your reactions…i try new BTS reactors & very few stick…youre sticking!!! 💜
The "Chris Martin" version, is the live stage that was done right before Jin's enlistment xD And yes this was a song to ARMY, this was as gift for ARMY:) The little girl that you see in the video is supposed to be ARMY and you can even see ARMY spelled out in the crossword puzzle! Fun fact, Chris is actually in the video! He played the news reporter on the TV xD Thank you for the video, Have an amazing day! 💜💜💜
This song is just beautiful 💜 It’s Jin’s farewell for ARMY when he enlisted to the military. You should check the performance with Coldplay in Argentina. It’s amazing. BTS stands for Bangtan Soyeondan (Bulletproof Boys Scouts). Jin is such a brilliant artist. His voice is beautiful and he is very funny. Whenever you see him at interviews or lives or Run BTS you’ll laugh your ass off. 💜 In the video Jin is an alien that had to stay in Earth, the little girl represents Army, the purple helmet of the girl is because purple is important for ARMY and BTS, borehae (I purple you) was something V started. When Jin was supposed to return to his planet he remembered the moments he lived with the little girl (ARMY) and he decided to stay. Chris Martin vocals are in the song. Jin was his special guest in Coldplay’a concert in Argentina. It was done so Jin could say goodbye to ARMY before going to the military.
This is one instance where I LOVE the way the language difference builds up a band / group name in the western world. If I’d seen “Bulletproof Boy Scouts” as the name of the group, I’d have had a good laugh and maybe teased it a bit but I LOVE the way it sounds/reads in Korean and the mystique around being an outsider and not knowing what it meant (honestly, I really meant my guess of Better Than Sex).
@@ReactionsThatRock you should see the Introduction to Bangtan 7 by Taylor Mary, that way you’ll know about the name and how people laugh at their name and how they were very hated at the beginning (still people throw a lot of shit at them). Also, you can learn a bit more about the members and how they join BTS. Please react to that documentary, I’ve seen it many many times. Their story is very inspiring 💜
One of the best things about BTS music is all the different layers people can enjoy it with. On the surface it's a crooner song with all that romantic bs. But peel back a layer and its a fan dedication, take in the video and you see how the girl represents ARMY who excepted JIN(BTS) amongst their differences, and how the fan and the artist take care of each other. On another layer its a collaboration between Jin and one of the biggest rrock groups on the planet, a gift given out of friendship, and genuine brotherhood and mutual respect. Overall this song just makes you feel good. If you have time watch the live performance with Jin and Coldply, and also Chris Martin's introduction speech. Also watch the MV for MY Universe with BTS and Coldplay, and their making of documentary.
So........... There **is** indeed a Bangtan Universe (BU) but it's specific to the supernatural mystery story that runs through their music and that they give clues and hints to in their song lyrics, MVs, album notes, short films, webtoons, books, a mobile game called BTS World and more mutli-media. It runs across multiple albums and years of time and there is also a KDrama in post-production based on the BU. It was recently announced there will be a new BU related album coming as well. In the BU, each member plays a fictional character of the same name as themselves but dealing with some serious and real-life challenges like poverty, domestic abuse, mental and physical health challenges, etc. but there are supernatural elements to the story that I won't give spoilers about. In terms of the overarching cosmos of the Tannies (BTS members) in real life, including: their group work, their solo work, their variety shows, their travel shows, their vlogs and blogs, their behind the scenes content like making of their MVs and backstage stuff, dance practices, interviews, live performances, concert films and documentaries, Bangtan Bombs (little videos they release of all kinds of random content from candid and behind the scenes stuff, to them doing pranks, doing video edits, doing the Harlem Shake, teasing each other, playing around in hotels on tours, and whatever other random crap these seven loveable "crackheads" got up to because they shared it ALL with us) or their various other content....I guess it's just the whole World of BTS. BTS is both incredibly real and goofy and loveable and hilarious - **AND** simultaneously deep and serious and meaningful. While they can be silly and full of antics and jokes as people, their work addresses things like mental health, socio-economic and socio-political issues, societal ills, class and generational divides, the various forms of love from fated to toxic, familial to self, love for each other and for ARMY, heartbreak, loneliness and alienation, identity, national tragedies, grief, the struggle for self-direction in a world telling you who to be and how to live, and more. They even self-reference things like their own art and their struggles as artists with burnout or with artistic identity, honesty, integrity and longevity or their passion and love for their art. They openly explore their own mental health and their personal struggles with their own shadows, fears and traumas. They draw from sources like literature and poetry, classical and visual arts, psychology, philosophy, religions and mythos of multiple cultures, science, history, their own life experiences, and more. Their choreography is also complex and meaningful storytelling performance art with moves that are based on lyrics and themes from the songs and a fusion of dance genres like hip hop and street styles to ballet and classical to contemporary and modern, disco and soul, funk, jazz and swing and classical Korean styles and even martial arts and other dance styles. Their MVs, as you have seen, are also complex and gorgeous visual art. Their live performances are next level, with their stage presence, their charisma and performance skills, and their touring band, The Ghost Band, serving up remixes and instrumental solos from soaring string sections to raging guitar work, depending on the song. Their music is often a heart tugging ballad or a banging track or a fun sounding bop or a raging rap that actually hides serious messages, and also might be occasionally throwing shade on their many haters, and also has a layer telling their personal stories, and some with a layer telling stories from the BU. They are so multifaceted it's insane. They have songs that include Japanese, Korean, English and Spanish and are the first group to ever chart three different songs in three different languages simultaneously on Billboard. The have genres ranging from rap and hip hop to jazz, R&B, neo-soul, rock, ballads, pop and pop-rock, EDM, Latin pop, dance synth, citipop, funk, and more, plus many unclassifiable fusions of genres. There has never been anything like BTS, in so many ways, and I doubt there ever will be again. They get compared to the Beatles, just in scale of how big they are, and indeed, they have already broken some of the Beatles records. In fact, they have set or broken so many records in general that they are already in the Guiness World Records Hall of Fame. But they are so much more than the Beatles were. They are shaking and remaking global music similar to how the Beatles did but in their own ways, and their music has such depth and complexity. They write, produce and some also play instruments - all of which the Beatles did, but BTS are also world class dancers and performers, and leaders of a global social movement to bring love and healing through music. They have already been together years longer than the Beatles (almost twice as long when you add their years as trainees) and with no scandals, no substance abuse, no domestic violence and no internal feuds like the Beatles. They consider one another family and hope to be making music together when they are old and grey. They have been invited to speak at the UN three times, and at the White House. Their fans are more organized and active in charitable activities around the globe than any fanbase I have ever heard of. Add to all this that they don't have the benefit of being a bunch of white, English-speaking guys - and yet they are global superstars. There just is no comparing them to anyone. They are BTS. And we are the lucky schmucks who get to be alive in their time.
Oh my! This is a whole lot of info to take in! Thank you so much for everything. My greatest take away is that The Beatles can’t dance. 😂 Seriously though! This is amazing info! 💜
@@ReactionsThatRock Haha! Well it's true! I know it's a lot to take in. We just care passionately about people understanding these guys, because there is so much misunderstanding and misconception and misinformation about them, some deliberate and some just cultural ignorance and equating them with things people know, genres or previous groups, and that just doesn't work. They don't fit any of those comparisons. It's more like 7 Michael Jacksons, with hearts of gold, except they clawed their way to the top from their broke agency amid insane efforts to crush them, are not English speaking, and did not have a US label and music industry support.
great reaction! thank you! I think jin can actually pull up Rock songs. he has such a powerful voice not only for ballads and if you like rock i can recommend some of their songs with rock-ish vibes: dionysus fake love (rock ver.) boy in luv
This was a love song and farewell to ARMY as Jin headed off to his mandatory military duty. This was not intended for radio play and Top 100. This is the relationship between BTS and ARMY. I know it's hard to grasp coming from a radio perspective, but this is the relationship that outsiders are confused by. BTW: you are missing out if you think only Jin and Jimin have the best voices. Each one brings something very, very, very special, unique and irreplaceable. Do not miss out on the others: RM, SUGA, J-Hope, V, and Jung Kook too. V will blow your mind.
I’ve fired up a song from everyone but V at this point. As far as my voice comments, I’m not knocking anyone, I just thought Jimin and Jin had really strong voices for this ballad type of pop song. It’s also not hard to grasp the relationship between BTS and ARMY at all. I worked in radio back when it was a big deal. We had street teams and fan clubs and all sorts of things for the station and I hosted a 2 hour metal show each week where my “fans” were known as “The Cult of Seth”. It started as a joke, but we made shirts, had group concert outings, and when I got fired (for the first time) they protested the station so much that I got rehired with a raise! 💜😎🔥 I loved that group and still talk to many of them 18 years later.
Thank you for reacting to this song... it always brings back the memories when Jin went to serve in the military, and it makes me sad! You said you like videos that tell a story... I would like to recommend you the new song and video of IU named ''Love Wins All', V of BTS is featured in the video. 😊
BTS collaborated with Coldplay on My Universe in large part because of Jin. Later when Jin was preparing to enlist in the Army he asked Christ Martin to help him write a song for his beloved ARMY (fans). So, this is a love/farewell for now song for ARMY (symbolized by that little girl). Chris Martin is the news anchor and his backing vocals are pretty prominent throughout . BTS is very close to Coldplay and I encourage you to react to the documentary Making of My Universe. This song brought an entire fandom to tears - Jin is so much beloved for his sincerity towards everyone, especially ARMY 💜 He flew to Argentina to sing The Astronaut at Coldplay’s concert. It was his last performance before enlisting. When you react - start w Chris’ introduction so you’ll understand the relationship between Coldplay and BTS.
I kinda think I have to do that, huh? I’m not the biggest Coldplay fan but I love the work that Chris Martin has done with younger artists. Seems like a guy who truly gives back! 💜
The Live performance with Coldplay in Argentina, four days before his enlistment, is iconic. Also, if it sounds like a love song from BTS, the love interest is most likely Army.
BTS = Bangtan Sonyeondon (Bangtan Sonyeaondon translates to "Bulletproof Boy Scouts" in English). They then rebranded it to stand far "Beyond the Scene" when they started getting bigger in the West, but it hasn't really stuck (we like Bangtan better...lol), and you'll hear the members refer to themselves often as "Bangtan" for short. Also, yes, this is a love song to ARMY. Jin released it as his solo project right before entering the military. The young girl in the video represents ARMY. Jin is the astronaut from another world (like he was an alien in the K-pop world) who grew to love his new life on Earth (as Jin did as an idol with fans like ARMY). He was supposed to return home, but he chose to stay (a message to ARMY that he'll be back because he loves his life). That's the gist of it. 🙂 Chris Martin was the news anchor in the video, and he IS singing in this version. You just missed his voice. There is a great live performance of Jin singing this right before entering the military, with Coldplay, in Argentina. If you watch it, be sure you watch a version with Chris Martin's speech at the beginning. Do NOT do one that just starts with Jin's performance, or at least look for a video with that speech separate. There are also behind-the-scenes videos of both the MV production and Jin's performance in Argentina. I don't think you've watched "My Universe" MV or the behind-the-scenes video of the production of that song, or the one of the video production, or the couple of videos of them performing together (at the American Music Awards, at a BTS concert in Los Angeles (Permission to Dance concert), and an acoustic version in New York. BTS has the "BU" - Bangtan Universe, but that is a storyline that runs through a lot of their music videos, short films, books, etc. I wouldn't call it their "sphere of influence" in the way you meant it. For that you could say that "it's the Tannies world and we just live in it," I suppose. 😂
Aaah and OMG! Thank you so much for all of this! I really did miss his voice in this as it was so soft and subtle. I listened again in the car and was like…. Ahhh, there he is! 💜🤩
Thanks for this reaction; glad you enjoyed it! Yes, this was a goodbye/love song to ARMY as Jin left for his military enlistment. Jimin did the same thing with "Closer Than This", and j-hope did a collab with J.Cole as his goodbye song ("On the Street"). Excited for you to finish up with V (two fingers/peace sign for V...stands for "Victory")! I will recommend his song "Love Me Again", but anything of his is wonderful. And then you move on to the group! I do suggest Taylor's Guide before hitting the group songs. So many of your questions will be answered, and you will have a better understanding of the guys' journeys. It really is incredible. (It's already captioned in English, PLEASE pause/rewind so you can get all of the information given, the longer the reaction the better!)
Aww i finally caught up with you 😅 Loving your reactions so far! I know you've got a million and a half suggestions but I'd like to throw one of my faves out for you: Dis-ease. You'll want to find a lyric video since it's a B-side with no MV, but the channel Dial6137 has a great video with really good translations. 💜
15:58 Yes, you are absolutely correct. It is an love/appreciation message to ARMY, and I think you picked up on the underlying theme of the MV from the very start. Jin was studying to be an actor when he was scouted & had no singing or dancing experience before joining the agency that created BTS. He’s obviously talented but I would imagine he often felt like he’d crashed-landed on an alien planet during those early years of hard vocal/dance training. Most BTS songs are written in ways that allow multiple interpretations, and are usually deeper and/or “darker” than the music suggests at first listen. This song in particular can be dedicated to a lover, a sibling, or a close friend and fit equally well. FYI, Chris Martin does background vocals & has a cameo on this MV as the TV anchor :)
@@ReactionsThatRock Understandable. I often watch them a few times in a row focusing on different aspects, and I still find new details when I watch them again after a while.
The live version Jin flew all the way to Argentina to the Coldplay stadium tour do perform this with Coldplay. It's on youtube but there's the longer version where Chris gives a wonderful introduction to Jin. Also there's behind the scene's with Jin and Cold play. They are great friends. Chris has stood up for BTS on a few occassions now when people have tried to suggest to him in interview that BTS are not good. Chris even gave one of his guitars to Jin. There's other behind the scenes with BTS and Chris when Chris while in covid did a 2 weeks isolation so he could go to South Korea and meet up with the BTS lads so they could work on 'My Universe' together at BTS's company. BTS have been fans of ColdPlay for ages even did a cover of Fix you by Coldplay. Coldplay really like their cover as well. When it come's to western artists their biggest supporters are ColdPlay, Halsey, Steve Aokia and of course Anderson Paak.
I love hearing that. I’ve said in a few other comments that I really don’t care for Coldplay’s music (good for what it is but soooo soft and fluffy for my taste) but I respect the hell out of Chris Martin. His approach to new music and new artists is so refreshing.
Same for me! I'm really surprised that a group I'm so new to can connect with me so emotionally! O mesmo para mim! Estou realmente surpreso que um grupo em que sou tão novo possa se conectar comigo tão emocionalmente!

It's interesting when you talk about how radio-friendly BTS's music sounds because they struggle to get radio play pretty often. You would think that they'd be dominating the radio when some of their songs sound exactly like the sort of stuff the radio already plays. But nope. When they chart on Billboard, often times they can get to #1 with as little as zero points for radio with 6 spins. It's ARMY's streams and us buying their physical albums that gets them on charts. The industry isn't too pleased with us for continuously getting BTS charting when other US artists are expected to take certain spots. They don't even both to hide it anymore when they drag us in news articles for being "bots" and "not real fans" and "controlled/funded by the record label to buy music" when they question where we get the funds to buy music. It's not our fault that they accept payola from other agencies but then they can't keep up their end of the bargain and let others top the charts because we ensure that we get out boys there first fair and free.
Radio is run by older white guys in bad fitting suits who listen to Michael Bolton. The consultants ruin radio. Always have and always will. The perception problem with BTS is that most radio stations pass on songs with foreign languages in them. The consultants say they aren't catchy and won't sell air time. After all, radio isn't even REALLY about playing music... it's about selling advertising. It doesn't matter what you like, or what your friends like... it matters what the local Kia dealership likes. So to speak.
BTS and Coldplay are best friends. They collaborated on the Grammy-nominated song "My Universe" and there's a heartwarming documentary of them recording it. Later on Jin worked with Coldplay on this song. You're absolutely right that this is a fan song! It's a love letter for us ARMY, released right before he enlisted. The girl in the MV represents ARMY because we were nine years old (formed in July 2013) at the time of this song's release. Jin performed the song at a Coldplay concert in Argentina, which was broadcast to cinemas all over the world. It's this performance with Coldplay that people are talking about. Chris Martin gave a wonderful speech introducing Jin before his performance. Enjoy BTS More has a video of the speech and the performance. Jin created an astronaut character called Wootteo for the promotion of this song, and Coldplay have been taking a Wootteo plushie on stage throughout their world tour. That's how much they adore Jin, and BTS as a whole. It's funny you mentioned Sinatra. I can't wait until you see V, hopefully his Tiny Desk Concert, but if not, maybe his "Slow Dancing". Btw, speaking of ranting about radio, Boracity Magazine also has a video essay called "bts vs radio".
Oh, I’d mentioned in another comment how BTS writes from the heart. That alone will keep them off of radio because radio wants songs with no heart or soul specifically written for easy consumption. You write a nice song to your fans and radio will pass on it every single time. Put a bit of Korean in it and they won’t even think twice about saying no. Meanwhile, half of all Red Hot Chili Peppers songs have gibberish and radio loves it cause it’s fun! 🤪
@ReactionsThatRock Truth. It's sad that their songs don't get more air play. "Dynamite" did because it was in English(1 of 3 BTS wrote for ARMY during the pandemic). I see no difference in their Korean songs and songs like Despesito.🤷♀️ I'm new to your channel and will definitely check out your playlists. Keep up the great work ‼️ ☮️ 💜
@@lovnlife1433 thanks and welcome to the party! Mumble rap gets played regularly and I can’t understand a word of it. Language doesn’t matter. Radio sucks though. The stories I could tell…
Jin, world wide Handsome, so many easter eggs. the little girl is represent ARMY who is about 10 yrs old. Jins voice is beautiful, the spaceman suit is something RM wore for a concert during the sing Anpanman. Thank you so much for taking the time to give our Guys a listen. and really check them out.💜
Army was formed July 9 2013 so Army is only 10 years old and that's why Army is depicted as a child in their videos. Except in Jungkook's "Hate You" video where Army is shown as a young purple haired women. Very few of their songs are about romantic love. Most are either autobiographical or a message written directly to Army.
Unlike traditional western music, BtS songs about relationships don’t necessarily means traditional male female romance. Usually it’s love of oneself. Love of army. Love of music. Etc
15:12 yep! This is a goodbye song that Jin gave ARMY before he enlisted in the military. It’s like “I love you” and “I promise to return” I’m sure other ARMYs will explain this better than me but you really got the gist of it 💜
A) BTS is one of the few groups whose songs are not about romance. Most of their songs aren’t about romance. This is one of them. B) Coldplay is playing the instruments and Chris Martin is singing the background vocals.
Guide!! You said GUIDE! With us? If you do whole group lives plz plz do not skip the 2018 and 2019 (!!) MMA awards, they're a bit longer but you will love them, esp 2019! Thanks for another great reaction 🤘💜
BTS: (B)ang(T)an (S)onyeondan. English translation: Bulletproof Boy Scouts. This is a Coldplay collab. I'm surprised you didn't pick up on Chris Martin's background vocals and the fact that he showed up as the newscaster on the television screen early in the video. There is a live version where Jin flew to Argentina to a Coldplay concert and performed this song live on stage with Coldplay.
Honestly, I’ve never really listened to Coldplay as I’ve always thought their music was just too soft and sappy for my taste. I wouldn’t have been able to notice Chris singing even if he was the lead vocals. 🤣
Yes, it is a love song, but not all love is romantic. There is a live performance of this as well. Jin flew to Argentina to sing this one song during Coldplay's concert. BanganTV posted that as well so you should be able to watch it without a problem. You grasped the concept quicker than most reactors! Yes. Jin is the Astronaut from another world that crash landed on Earth and has been waiting for a signal and the chance to return home. :) Coldplay and BTS also have the song "My Universe" together. There is a great behind the scene video of them recording it together and the MV should have won awards!
My wife is a writer and I’ve dabbled. I tend to pick up on themes and symbolism quickly as long as I have some type of reference for it. 😊 I’ll have to check out the live version… I don’t normally care for Coldplay but I love the way Chris Martin gives back to the industry!

What an amazing recap! Thank you so much for your hard work, I'm on my phone and typing is a pain, so thank you! Borahae💜🫂🕊
Your recap had me tearing up because you worded it so well that I can actually feel how much Jin loves Army 💜💜
@@ReactionsThatRock Just found your channel, I know I'm a bit late on this one, but do note:
The little girl in the video is 9. (For the video, not sure about real age.)
At the time of the video, ARMY had been given their fan name 9 years prior.
That’s such an amazing point! He really does get heaven to himself for a bit! That’s good writing!
The best thing about this is the karma. Haters criticised BTS for covering a Coldplay song a few years prior.
Coldplay gifting Jin a song, playing backup when he performed it, and referring to BTS as their brothers... World peace is possible.
Ok. That’s the best thing I heard all day!!!
BTS cover of Fix You is beautiful, haters love to hate about everything.
Then they did a song together (and the mini documentary about that is one of the most heart warming thing ever! *Agust D)
AND Then they gifted Jin this song - that also Chris's son had participated making!
In real life, Jin is full of cheese, lol. He makes cheesy jokes and puns and is just a goofy, happy guy.
Oh my! I’m a HUGE fan of cheesy jokes and puns! Now I know I have to see some behind the scenes stuff!
Definitely need to watch the introduction to Bangtan 7 😉
Well hello again my rock n roll friend!!!
I kinda caught it half way through that he wasn’t singing to a girl and it almost made me swoon!!!
Iowa Silver Army here - DSM. Hello sister!
Jin snatching up all of us 47 year olds in the American midwest, am I right? 😂

Watch jin live with cold play in Argentina. He got to perform live before go to the military. Was his good bye too us for a little.Jin coming back June this year.miss jin
Added to my must-see list! Thanks!!!
Such a beautiful song for armys.
June we get our moon back yall
It really is!!!
Yes! This was a love song to ARMY, right before he had to go into the Korean military. The little girl represents ARMY, and when he puts that helmet on her head and sends her on the bicycle it makes me tear up because he's saying "You're going to be on your own for a little while, but you can do this, I'll be here, even if I can't be with you."
Also, Cris Martin does sing in this, but he let Jin shine in the vocals. The video of Jin and Chris singing this live is awesome. Chris helped Jin with this song to ARMY.
💜
Awe! That is so insanely sweet!!! I love hearing how good these guys are to their fans. That is amazingly less common than one would think. 💜😎🔥
@@ReactionsThatRockThat is very true. “Spoiled” is right, though. These 7 young men have certainly ruined me for most other artists.
So much symbolism! Love it!!!
Well it's 18months so only 1 year and 6months not a full 24months but still it's figutively speaking a representation.
"If there is a Chris Martin version of this song, he wasn't needed..." Me laughing because 1) Chris Martin wrote the song with Jin and 2) Chris was the Anchor reporting the news and 3) Chris vocals was part of the song. This was totally a Cold Play sounding song.
Yeah… but Chris still could have sat this one out. 🤣
Gosh i love your reactions. 63 year old ARMY here, your reacts are funny, intelligent, open minded. Love listening to you listening to them😊
Thank you so much! Lots more to come!

Thanks mister,I appreciate your heartfelt thoughts,Jin is amazing! Borahae 💜🫡
This may be simply a language issue, but BTS did not "Disband." They have been very clear, emphatic and slightly (or more than slightly) annoyed to have to keep repeating it, that they did not disband, break up or anything like that. They just took a break from group activities because of enlistments.
@@ReactionsThatRock
Your dessert metaphor is exactly on point.
@@ReactionsThatRock I wonder if when he is singing he is really acting being a singer. Also being an actor he should be good at conveying emotions
That’s amazing and I love hearing about his journey! Hopefully he’s over his self doubt.
I’ll be sure to check the song out! Sounds powerful! 💜😎🔥

You're right on with Jin and Army. This was his farewell song to fans before entering the military, and the little girl represents Army.. My Universe is the Coldplay/BTS collaboration you're looking for.
Ahhhh gotcha. There’s too much BTS rattling around my brain I can’t keep it all straight!!
@@ReactionsThatRock You will really enjoy the My Universe MV. It's another "movie" with a sci-fi spin. Looking forward to your reaction to it.
BTS stands for BangTan Sonyeondan (Bulletproof Boyscouts) Korean: 방탄소년단
the name signifies the group's desire "to block out stereotypes, criticisms, and expectations that aim on adolescents like bullets"
ARMY stands for Adorable Representative MC for Youth... ARMY is the military while BTS is the armour, which is a metaphor for how the band and its fans stick together... the implication of a military force is intentional as ARMY stand in solidarity with BTS in their fight.
I hope you have a wonderful day💜
That’s so crazy to hear but at the same time I can really pick up on his acting chops in this video!
I appreciate all the info!💜😎🔥
@@robwebnoid5763
In context:
RM/Namjoon had no dancing experience.
Jin flew from South Korea to Argentina to debut this song with Coldplay. Coldplay gifted this song to Jin.

That really blows my mind! He’s got such a great voice for this style! 💜😎🔥
@@ReactionsThatRock Chris Martin's son also does background vocals for the song.
I’m getting there, trust me!!! 💜😎🔥
Chris and his son, Moses sang the back-up vocals on the song including the Korean verses. Jin flew to Argentina to perform the song with Coldplay before his enlistment th-cam.com/video/FqmYc62HUec/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8Q8Q8pfeP_7qLLkj Chris gave a wonderful introduction that you should watch first th-cam.com/video/zoqtp148Bhc/w-d-xo.htmlsi=I5z7ygG8e_NgclSm
That’s awesome! I’ll check it out!!!
love takes many different forms, it doesn't have to be romantic! :) i think it's one of the lessons bts taught me, to love more. in general. to love myself, to love the world, to love my friends, etc. just more love, wider love, limitless love
… and I LOVE that!
Solid messaging if I may say! 💜
There is an actual BTS Universe (BU), but it refers to a fictional storyline that goes though some of BTS' music videos and extra content. It's like super advanced ARMY stuff though 😆
Wow. I’m too novice for that right now. Sounds awesome though!!!
I mean, he might be, but I wouldn’t put it in the top 10 of things I’d noticed or cared about.
BTS are nearly always better live 💜💜💜
BTS songs nearly always have a deeper meaning. (The only feel good songs from BTS are Dynamic, Butter and Permission to Dance, and these were written to cheer us up during and after COVID). And for those purposes are still great listening.
I’ll definitely check it out! I almost did that one but so many people told me they loved the video for this so I had to watch it! 💜😎🔥
Yes! Yes! Yes!
V: Wherever u r with UMI
j-hope: On The Street with J Cole
Jimin: Closer Than This
Jin: The Astronaut
RM did not release a specific love song for ARMY but he did a whole other album and it is due to be released any time now.
@@ReactionsThatRock
He is not the only actor. One member has been in a KDrama and that's actually how I found BTS, being a KDrama watcher for more than 15 years. That's V/Taehyung. He was in a historical drama called Hwarang, right on top of BTS' incredibly busy schedule.
i think the astronaut is the greatest love confession ive even got haha!
I once had a girl lock me in the walk in cooler of a Taco Bell and threaten to kill me with a box cutter if I didn’t kiss her…
So that’s probably my greatest love confession.
But this is a close second. 🤣
This is really sweet, yes. And another 4 months and we’ll have him back. I can’t wait 🥲💜

I cheered out loud when you called it! This is a love song to ARMY! 💜
It took me a bit and even then I wasn’t quite sure. Happy to be validated!!! 💜😎🔥
That’s awesome! I’ve wanted to go to Korea ever since I was a kid. I took Taekwondo and was just enamored with the culture and history!
I’m really surprised by these guys.
OMG! It’s all coming together!!! Thank you! 💜😎🔥
You’re almost making me want to see Coldplay! 🤣
Never been a big fan but really respect the hell out of Chris Martin.
@@ReactionsThatRock I'm from Argentina and I was at the recital, it was amazing! And seeing Jin was the closest I got to BTS! They never came to my country.

Maybe i will then! FM radio is mostly a dead medium anyway. Might as well kick some dirt on it! 🤣💜
Thanks!!! I missed Chris the first time around. The awful wig threw me off! 🤪💜

Coldplay has their own version of the song they sing while on tour. That could be the Chris Martin version they are talking about.

This song is just beautiful 💜
It’s Jin’s farewell for ARMY when he enlisted to the military.
In the video Jin is an alien that had to stay in Earth, the little girl represents Army, the purple helmet of the girl is because purple is important for ARMY and BTS, borehae (I purple you) was something V started.
Their story is very inspiring 💜
yes, a love song for army, like a goodbye for now song before enlisting for the military. the little girl represents the army.
Awe. I love that!
Oh yeah! This is like an onion! It’s full of layers and almost made me cry! 🤪💜
Hahaha! 🤣 Legendary Army behaviour! All correct though! 👍 💜
Oh my! This is a whole lot of info to take in! Thank you so much for everything.
My greatest take away is that The Beatles can’t dance. 😂
Seriously though! This is amazing info! 💜

Haha!
@@NanciBK PS: They DO not, not DID not, have an American label. 💜

I loved that group and still talk to many of them 18 years later.
Thank you for reacting to this song... it always brings back the memories when Jin went to serve in the military, and it makes me sad!
You said you like videos that tell a story... I would like to recommend you the new song and video of IU named ''Love Wins All', V of BTS is featured in the video. 😊
I do love a story! I’ll be sure to check that out!!! Thanks! 💜😎🔥
I e checked the Coldplay version out and loved it! 😍

I had to rewatch it to catch Chris. I was so focused on the captions that I missed him completely. 🤪💜
@@ReactionsThatRock Understandable. I often watch them a few times in a row focusing on different aspects, and I still find new details when I watch them again after a while.
Hellooo,..thanks for your reaction again!❤🙏.It was indeed a song for army . The little girl means army and look at her purple bike. . You did great!💜
Thanks so much! Seems like I still missed so much symbolism! Time for a rewatch!
8:21 Si! La niña es ARMY😂
Nice keep going 💜
Will do! 💜
Love song for army his brothers and family
That’s sweet! Love it!
I think you would love Bora City video essays.
Already in my notes! I’ll get to it! I promise!
@@ReactionsThatRock Chris is a gentleman, as are Coldplay as a band they always have been. His Britishness always shine's through.
Essa música me emociona demais!! Amo muito!!
Same for me! I'm really surprised that a group I'm so new to can connect with me so emotionally!
O mesmo para mim! Estou realmente surpreso que um grupo em que sou tão novo possa se conectar comigo tão emocionalmente!
Yes, this is his last song to Army before enlisting in military.
Lmao Chris Martin as the newscaster with the terrible hairpiece 💀💀
I don’t catch that my first time through. Watched it again and noticed soooo much more!
I see no difference in their Korean songs and songs like Despesito.🤷♀️
I'm new to your channel and will definitely check out your playlists.
Thank you so much for taking the time to give our Guys a listen. and really check them out.💜
That’s amazing! Thank you so much for filling me in. I’ve still got so much to learn but I do agree 100% that Jin has a great voice!!!
That’s great to know! Thank you!
Yes was love song to us
💜😎🔥
Chris from Coldplay wrote this song with Jin. And there´s another song, My Universe, that Coldplay and BTS sing together
Oh that’s great!!! I’ll check it out! Thank you!!!😊 💜
Chris Martin was the news reader on the tv...😉💜
I had to watch it again. Terrible wig! 😂💜🤣
"My Universe" is their group song with Coldplay
Gotcha!
Unlike traditional western music, BtS songs about relationships don’t necessarily means traditional male female romance. Usually it’s love of oneself. Love of army. Love of music. Etc
I’m slowly learning that. Honestly, it’s refreshing as I I’m so over most love songs. 😂
My universe was up Grammy BTS and cold play I'm sure you have heard on radio.this song is a good bye for army be back soon
I actually don’t really listen to radio. I find it too formulaic. 🥲
15:12 yep! This is a goodbye song that Jin gave ARMY before he enlisted in the military. It’s like “I love you” and “I promise to return”
I’m sure other ARMYs will explain this better than me but you really got the gist of it 💜
Thank you! I think I might finally be starting to get who these guys are! 💜🤩
1:08 Esta cancion se estreno en MI PAIS 🇦🇷 en el icónico River Plate, y Jin voló 40hs para presentarse porque se iba al servicio militar. El video esta aquí:

That’s incredible! Thank you so much for the link! 💜
A) BTS is one of the few groups whose songs are not about romance. Most of their songs aren’t about romance. This is one of them.
B) Coldplay is playing the instruments and Chris Martin is singing the background vocals.
That’s another thing that really surprises me about BTS. Their songs seem so much deeper than “he loves her” songs. Respect!
Guide!! You said GUIDE! With us? If you do whole group lives plz plz do not skip the 2018 and 2019 (!!) MMA awards, they're a bit longer but you will love them, esp 2019! Thanks for another great reaction 🤘💜
Yep. Guide with everyone.
I’ve also screenshotted (is that a word?) this so I fire up the right live songs! 💜
they each gave Army a song before or after they went to the military
That’s so sweet!🥹
Coldplay and BTS also have the song "My Universe" together. There is a great behind the scene video of them recording it together and the MV should have won awards!
My wife is a writer and I’ve dabbled. I tend to pick up on themes and symbolism quickly as long as I have some type of reference for it. 😊
I’ll have to check out the live version… I don’t normally care for Coldplay but I love the way Chris Martin gives back to the industry!
Chris was a TV announcer
I missed it the first time. Just rewatched it and saw the awful wig. 😂
