Kuih Bengkang/Bingka Tepung Beras (Rice Flour Version Kuih Bengkang) | MyKitchen101en

  • Traditional Kuih Bengkang or Bingka Beras is made with white rice (beras putih), it has bright white colour and the texture is soft and a bit chewy. If you can't get white rice as ingredient or don't have blender to blend the white rice, you may use rice flour as your second choice.
    Rice flour version Kuih Bengkang (or Kuih Bingka Tepung Beras) still tastes good, but the texture is a bit sticky and not chewy, and the colour is a bit dull. not as great as the white rice version.

      You may use rice flour, but the texture of the kuih might be that good. Or you may try the other recipe which uses white rice (beras putih) instead of flour and the texture is better: mykitchen101en.com/kuih-bengkang-bingka-beras-baked-rice-kuih/

    Hi, i really like your recipes and i have made some like the kuih talam and the kuih kosui. They are really great. I remembered seeing a purple version of this kuih. Do you have the recipe for that?

      I haven't tasted the purple version before, not sure what is the different.

    Where does one find mung bean starch?

      Usually available at bakery supplies shop. If you can't get it, you may try white rice version Kuih Bengkang, the texture is better: mykitchen101en.com/kuih-bengkang-bingka-beras-baked-rice-kuih/

    Hi, is there a substitute for mung bean starch? Thanks

    • @MyKitchen101en
      @MyKitchen101en  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have tried with cornstarch but not suitable. Mung bean starch usually available at bakery supplies shop, it is to adjust the texture of the kuih so that it is not too sticky. If you can't get it, you may try white rice version Kuih Bengkang which has better texture: mykitchen101en.com/kuih-bengkang-bingka-beras-baked-rice-kuih/

      U mean mung bean starch n hoen Kwee( mung bean flour) both are the same?

    • @MyKitchen101en
      @MyKitchen101en  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are different, but you may use either one, but Hoen Kwee flour usually has artificial flavouring.
