This conversation felt very deep! But very abstract. I guess I would like more pragmatic ways to cultivate our relationship with God’s creation. I would like to see everyday Catholics living out their stewardship of God’s gift of creation so that it actually changes the polemical nature of our political discourse.

When she was about to ask for a Wendell Berry Godsplaining episode and this pops up in the feed! So excited!

I'm about to listen. Wendell Berry! For a Thomist! Exciting. I'd have thought Thomas Berry would have been discussed before Wendell Berry.

What the environment is: a gift from God, an expression of God's Divine Wisdom, Beauty, and Goodness, a charge for us as its stewards by God, for God and to pass on to our progeny in His Name, a painting, story, and generally an instance of art hinting at the nature of the Creator, a life support system, a community of life forms, a network of interrelations and roles, resources to draw from, and in the plainest sense, our environment as in, where we are and what is around us and around all of us, given for our use, yet in large part not made by us, and this portion we call natural.
Our relationship to it I feel, ought to take at least these into account but these definitely can and ought be boiled down into more basic principles.
