Thank you for posting this. The W126 is my all-time favorite S-Class. The car you drove looks beautiful inside and out, but I guess the door seals or sunroof seals need replacing. This is the first time I have ever seen a W126 with manual gearbox. That 3 liter straight six engine is bulletproof!

I had a w126 300SE automatic. W126 the most handsome car ever but the most unlucky one same time. Despite everything, I love it the most since my childhood.

Incredible car! I used to have a 500SE and I drove at 160km/h at 3000 rpm. In you 300 SE you need a little bit more, but not much more. Great Car!!!
500SE is a great engine in the w126!

Probably the best engine and gearbox combination for the W126.
Without the aircon, M103 pulls really well and is lively.

Thank you for the perfect video! Good to see the speed and the display of the revolutions, which is the most exciting for me. The crackling sounds I know all too well! Mainly that came from the doors, on the lower part, where plastic material rubs against each other. Everything with felt discreetly taped and the crackling was 99% gone.
That Mercedes squeaking interior. This one squeaks quite loudly.

Drive the crap out of my 91 300sel both as an auto and after I converted it to a manual. The USA cars had more mellow cams and ignition timing and cars. A euro spec car I bet would match a USA 420sel
And mine would hit 133mph flat out, now with a 3.0 m104 engine I’m curious what the 61 more hp and 1500 rpm higher redline would do

Fahre einen 88er W124 mit der gleichen Motor/Getriebe-Kombination. Der 5. Gang ist als Schongang ausgelegt, die Höchstgeschwindigkeit wird im 4. Gang erreicht.

Mercedes are pretty quite when running properly, I've got a 560sel (5.5L V8) w126 and you can barely even hear it when its idling, just a very faint ticking noise, even on the highway it you just hear wind noise unless you accelerate hard.

Manual transmission is the way to go with this car. Mercedes makes excellent manual transmissions.
You're dumb. Its exactly the other way around. You don't drive an S-Class wirh the shitty outdated manual gearbox. You drive it with the excellent Mercedes-Benz Automatik. Because faster acceleration with magic Kickdown and simply driving with more class. Only a worker class peasant would think different.
@@lt.martincastillo5122 I've driven both and prefer the manual. Manual is faster and accelerates faster. You have more control over the car with the manual. It is not up to you to decide what I am because you are just a human being.
I got a 260E W124 - it gots nearly the same performance as the 300SE - and I was searching for a manual Gearbox.
The 4-Speed Automatic isn’t up to date anymore.
@@lt.martincastillo5122 Kickdown is just downshift to the lowest possible gear. Like shifting a manual back from 5 to 2. Nothing magic about it.

At this video, I want to mention that your maximum speed was around at 197 km/h.
But he brakes. The top speed is 100% higher than 197 km/h
My dad 4 years ago, had w126 3.0 m103 and he say : vmax is some 270. And he say : 3th Gear and rev, 180km.h

My 1989 300 SE seems to accelerate better than yours. It will reach 230 KPH. Anyway, the M103 is an excellent motor.
Im honest with you, i wasn´t confident in the old tires which were on the car, so i thought 200kmh is enough :D
This is not my car, i have a 1986 420SEL with the M116 Motor. Next Year i try a Top Speed Video with this one :)
Mine also with an automatic gearbox i reach 240KPH on the speedometer
@@kevinmaier5648 which means your speedometer goes 30 kmh wrong because real max speed was measured at 211 kmh....

It comes from the door panel, after nearly 30 years they are not that tight and strong anymore ;)
@@testdrivepov7016 You can put some sort of felt or velour tape on the underside of the door panels, cause they're rubbing on the door sills.
@@testdrivepov7016 yes. my 420SE had the same issue. some felt stripes under the door fixed it.
