I actually used this video to install my AEV snorkel. Total time 2hrs! Very easy when offroad shops wanted to charge 650.00 saying 6hrs of labor. Watched this twice and followed AEV directions with the template, it came out perfect. About midway thru I needed the wife to hold the fender out while I tightened the bolts. Think the hardest part was getting the hole cut perfect for the snorkel to fit thru. I riveted the snorkel to the intake tube with a lot of rivets to hold it in place while I put the fender back.
I'm looking at the same. Just bought the kit, don't see how it will take more than a couple hrs? Can't see justifying a $600 shop fee for a couple hrs best... Unless I'm truly missing something? AEV? anyone? Anything I should know before I begin? (Have proper tools and skill) thx! 👍👍
@tweyenberg Thanks! It’s well worth it. The air is much cleaner coming in a gives a little more comfort going through water knowing it won’t hydro lock.
They didn't show watertight sealing of each connection of the snorkel, nor the air box when he rivoted it together. Hope it doesn't fail when needed most! I'm going to tackle this myself tonight and see how long it takes.
Not sure if this intake is not "waterproof", those connections would have to be sealed with something around it(a sealant, not gaskets), more like water resistant and if you are really in water that deep, up to the intake tubes and air box, you are going to have other issues to deal with(electrical components, batteries submerged. It does great filtering out dirty, dusty air(with the pre-filter). This is really for cleaner/ colder air.
I’m not sure if this application is compatible for the V6.. but the snorkel allows for deep water crossings. Everything is sealed.. if you send over a photo of your engine bay to our Instagram page I can see if our compartments are similar.
Charles Cotton roughly it was about 6 1/2 hours but I was filming the process so it took a bit longer.. but the dealership goes by what the manufacturer install time which is 6 hours I believe.. but just to give you an idea of what it cost me... $650 (install) not including the part
@@TrailBendersOverland seems awfully high... Most ram forums say it's about a 1.5 hr install. How long did it actually take and why? Honest question, gotta do mine...
No too much worry for "going back" if you have a common color truck. Just find a junk yard wrecked truck undamaged fender and just swap out the whole thing.
This one doesn’t. The body is different. They might make a snorkel for the older gen and a lot of the install steps will be similar, but not exactly the same.
He did good protecting the body till he got out the die Grindr with cut off wheel and shot metal sparks all over paint and windshield. Bet if you run a razor blade over windshield you will see it’s all melted metal in it on that side
Common tools he says. Yes a rivet gun and a impact gun and drill are all common. They definitely dont cost above $100 or more and everything else besides the bits and tab puller is over $100 too. So definitely common tools
first video on yt how to instal snorkel for ram , grate thenks!!
pawel not a problem 🤙🏻 if you need any further details on install don’t hesitate to ask. We are more active on our Instagram 🙌🏻

Awesome! Glad you found the video useful. Sounds like you did a good job too!

Great content! The ram 1500 world thanks you.
Happy to help! RAM content is so hard to find we figured we should be sharing everything we do to it.
Awesome video really shows that install. I've been courious about this for 2012 Ram.

Excellent, just bought my AEV snorkel off this for my RAM 👍👍
Good choice!

exactly, thats what we say !!!
It was such a long day we actually forgot to film that part. It is, however, sealed!
Loved the video. I believe the engine was ticking at the end of the video. What was that? Don't tell me you had the dreaded Hemi tick.
is that the ole hemi tick i was hearing when you started the truck up?
Can this be installed when you have a KN cold air intake in your truck already???
Will this product fit a 2023 Ram 1500 Classic Warlock 5.7 Hemi?
I have a 3rd gen Ram with the 5.7 hemi and would love to have this done I'm just unsure if this kit will work with my truck.

I def can see those issues arising.. but the dealership said things would buff out lol let that be the last words huh? Haha
What about potentially nicking the airbag that's in the A-pillar ?
You mean being worried about hitting it?
Tremenda camioneta. Qué bien luce. Muy buen trabajo.
Yeah I would have used sealant at my connections where the snorkel was divided together to keep the water out for sure...
since im poor and can only afford the V6... would this work on a V6? Also would this allow fording deeper water or is this strictly cosmetic?

The Sy-Klone head is in the wrong way. The exhaust slot must facing rear. You must turn it 180 degree.
Dang really?! I’ll have to check it out I never noticed.. thanks for the heads up
By any chance do y’all have one for a 2008 Durango SXT 4.7 V8
We don't sell them so I'm not sure if they do or not. Check out their site....
How many hours for the install? Trying to figure out install cost.

where is the link for this snorkel
You can just go on AEV website or purchase through your AEV/Mopar Dealer

I want one for my 5th gen
Does it fit 03 2500
This one doesn’t. The body is different. They might make a snorkel for the older gen and a lot of the install steps will be similar, but not exactly the same.
it's hardly going to be water tight if they aren't sealing the mods made on the air box
Ryan Sears you’re right. It was sealed. It was a super long install and they actually forgot to get the shot of sealing it.
But why? Electronics would fail with water up to the stock air box
Not a snorkel as much as a raised air intake system. Not water tight.
Ghostrider304 We did actually seal it all. Honestly it was such a long day of filming we forgot that clip.
✅
Watched all that work just for you to be done and pull out with the loudest broken exhaust manifold bolts…
Is the truck named Noah ?...........sad.
Lol no it’s not. Kinda tentatively named snow?

Travel Guy good point! Didn’t think of that.. 🙌🏻
You do realise that Dodge hasn’t made RAM trucks for over a decade don’t you ? 🙄
Oh geez you’re right. Wow. Had no idea. 2009 they split. Thanks for enlightening us!! 🙏
My pet peeve is when people refer to the 2010 and newer Rams as a dodge

You make a great point
@@TrailBendersOverland I mean you most likely could put the snorkel on with common tools but it'll be more difficult and more rough looking
Muy lento
Regio Mty La instalación es un proceso muy largo. gracias por mirar, espero que saques algo de eso
