    The whole story is based on a lie. His parents told him, a 7-year-old, the real answer on where babies came from and became traumatized. His daughter at the end asks the same question and didn't want to scar her like he was, so he created this crazy-ass baby corporation that makes the babies and she ends up imagining her as the new boss baby.
    That's my theory anyway.

    the oscars are a joke, especially for animation. In no reality this should be paired with Coco for the same award.
    And in general, i feel that the "best animated picture" award is rather generic. Besides the fact the Disney wins it pretty much every year, it's a vague ass category.
    How can movies like, say, Loving Vincent and Valzer with Bashir be paired with Coco and Inside Out? Like, animation is a medium, not a genre.

    • @Fir3fly798

      Samurai Shampoo except everything about the animation was inferior compared to boss baby, from the realism of the design and textures to the art style Coco blows it away. This movie deserves to be nominated for biggest turd.

      How can it be a ripoff if they started production 4 years before Book of Life was even released? And even then, just because they share similar elements (i.e. Day of the Dead, up and coming musician, going to land of the dead) doesn't mean Coco is ripping off the Book of Life. Also, Coco put WAY more effort into establishing the rules and mechanics of the world they built. Book of Life does it on a more base-level, spiritual thing, which is fine, but Coco expanded more on the ideas presented in Book of Life. Also, they used the cliches to much greater effect. In Book of Life, the only reason the father hates music is because...he just hates music. That's it. In Coco, the family is against music because the patriarch of the family left his wife and daughter behind to pursue music and almost destroyed the family. So it makes more sense for the family to be against music as a whole. Sorry for the rant, but I hate it when people dismiss Coco (the MUCH better movie) as a ripoff of Book of Life without really analyzing or thinking about it.

      The way the Oscars works is that movies that make plenty of money and have all-star cast members get nominated.. Some work that deserves attention, like A Silent Voice or Your Name, don't get noticed due to this. Now, some great movies such a Coco get the recognition they deserve, but most of the time it's all rigged.

    I read once someone's theory that the story is a kid dealing with his family's loss of a baby. Essentially, parents have the first baby that the little boy doesn't want around. He actively fights it in his imagination, but in reality he's dealing with the struggle of his parents turning all their attention to their sick newborn and the baby seems to be a villain to him. The baby ends up dying (getting promoted) and he misses this sibling that initially he didn't want. He asks his parents for his brother back. his parents try again, and luckily it's another little boy, not uncommon. And that's the current little brother he's grown up with. His story, his memory and his fantasies are all coping mechanisms for dealing with something he doesn't understand at 7 years old.
    I always thought that theory, while dark, was extremely interesting. Then I realized it gave too much credit to the writers of this movie.

    There's an anime called Katekyo Hitman Reborn that centers around a 12-14-year-old kid learning he's the next in line to be the boss of the most powerful mafia in the world so he gets a home tutor named Reborn who's sent to train him both academically and in how to be a good mafia boss. Only the tutor is a baby in a suit and fedora who uses cruel and sadistic methods of training the kid, while everyone laughs at how an infant is beating up a 12 year old, with no one knowing Reborn's a hitman in his 40's trapped in the body of an infant.
    I watched Boss Baby and got so excited when I first saw the trailer for it because it reminded me of that anime, and everyone I knew who also watched KHR went to see this movie for the same reason. So, that could've caused a few ripples in the pond of how the fuck did this get popular.

    The problem with the Oscar thing is that the whole Animated Feature Oscar category is a joke and an insult created because live-action film creators got angry about Beauty and the Beast being nominated for best picture in the 90's. Apparently, they don't realize or respecting the time, skill, artistry, man-power, and acting ability (from not just the voice actors, but live-action models, AND animators themselves) to create an animated film. It's just that horrible lack of respect for animation we suffer from in the U.S. Practically every animated feature released tends to get nominated each year (though perhaps that has changed, since there are now many more animated features produced). Having said that, I did NOT want to see Boss Baby having seen the trailers, but I decided to give it a try when it came on Netflix due to a good review from Brad Jones, and he was totally right, it was extremely funny and clever. Weird, yes, but not in a bad way at all. I really enjoyed this movie.

    • @poweroffriendship2.0
      @poweroffriendship2.0 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Well, I admired about Boss Baby. Some people practically joking, "let's put a baby on a business suit". But beside that, the movie has a great message between love, imagination, childhood, maturity, and some themes. The titular character was matured despite he's a baby. If you already have enough IQ to understand this movie, you'll be glad that you've watch Rick and Morty all the time.
      The Oscars part? That's fine. At least they give the award to Coco anyways and this movie got nominated. Lego Batman Movie was funny and creative but it needs more attention. Not all people were winners though. Not even celebrities too.

      The Oscars make plenty of dumb nominations. But, despite that, I still like having them around. They hand out awards to a lot of venerable films and people as well. This past year, Gary Oldman won best actor, and Sam Rockwell won best supporting actor. They're two of the most versatile actors in Hollywood; they totally deserved to win! I hear a lot of folks saying the "Oscars need to die," but I think they're just overly pessimistic.

    I like the inconsistency of fantasy and reality; he’s a little kid with apparently few friends so he plays by himself all the time. No, trouble distinguishing reality from imagination is a mental condition, potentially dangerous too, and as someone who as a child played alone a lot because of home placement, your reason is bullshit, even as a kid reality and imagination are clearly separate, the former is just more vivid and active.

    I didn't think the movie was THAT bad, to be honest. I mean, it's BAD, but it had a couple of funny moments and it had a likable chemistry between the two main characters. That being said, I HAVE NO FREAKIN' CLUE how this got nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards. Especially with movies like Coco, The Breadwinner and Loving Vincent in the competition.

    One of my main problems with this movie was that almost the entire thing didn't happen. Like, they put all this effort into this plot and then right at the end they're all "lol jk none of that happened it was all in the main character's head and when the baby actually arrived everything was chill". Idk I just hate those kinda movies, unless they can somehow do it well like attaching it to a good message, which this movie didn't do imo.
    The part of the movie I liked the most was the Elvis gag, I actually found that pretty funny.

    The Boss Baby: An Analysis of Childhood Depression
    So, despite it being the opening night (well, at least when I saw it, now it is April fools), this was my second screening of The Boss Baby. I had saw it before at an advanced screening, and didn't anticipate seeing it again. At least, in theaters.
    Let me just say now, it started off as a joke. I was joking about just how much money this movie was shamefully gonna make, and kidded about seeing it again. But as it turns out, my friend wasn't kidding. He actually wanted to go see the piece of shit.
    I was hesitated, but sure, why the fuck not?
    As for actual criticism, I did catch one thing, and that was the 3D effects in this movie are actually pretty great. If you love seeing depth and things fly out at you in 3D, The Boss Baby is a treat for that. I didn't catch these things upon my first viewing, as I saw the film in 2D. So if you somehow find yourself watching this movie, do yourself a favor and maybe you'll enjoy seeing the 3D. Maybe also get shitfaced to shit so you can actually enjoy this movie. Lots of movie theaters serve alcohol nowadays anyway.
    So that's it for actual criticism, and for the rest of this review, I would like to encourage a fan theory. I would have mentioned all of this in my first viewing, but I'd figured it'd be stretching it, considering how absurd it sounds. But having sat through this shit again, I can't help but mention it. If you wanna call bullshit out on me, go right a fucking head. I don't even think you'll see this movie you little shit. Let alone fucking two times in a week.
    The Boss Baby, as dumb as it may appear on the surface, is a massive metaphor for childhood loneliness and depression.
    Let that sentence sink in. Now I know what you're thinking: how the fuck did you get to that conclusion? Well, as Anakin would put it, 'This is where the fun begins.'.
    So the first five minutes of this movie is Tim and his imagination, playing outside and having fun on many misadventures. Though as the narrator (somehow played by Tobey Maguire... c'mon Tobey, you can do better...) puts it, many things happened in his childhood, and despite the wackiness of it all, it was just the way he remembered it. Remember that for later. These misadventures include searching the congo, being eaten by a shark but miraculously making it out alive, going on a crashing space ship, you get the idea. The movie makes a great point of making this all seem like Tim's imagination. Another thing is that all of this also involve his parents playing with him, which the movie makes obvious.
    Now comes a scene where it is bedtime, and his parents ask Tim for a new baby brother, to which Tim rudely declines, and often wishes it would be the three of them forever.
    So it comes as a surprise that Tim's little baby brother, who shows up in a taxi and a suit appears, despite his opinion on the subject. Did his parents really not give a shit about the whole thing? Obviously, this can't really be happening.
    The thing about The Boss Baby is that it never knows when it goes too far. Obviously, this is a kids' movie, right? So I should be more then able to determine what is grounded and what's not, right? But the movie makes this difficult to see, because as Tim said it, he remembers things differently than how they actually happened.
    My theory is that certain things never happened in The Boss Baby, as the movie would like to make you think. Particularly, I don't think the actual Boss Baby actually existed throughout the whole film, and rather, is Tim's escape to find an actual friend after being cooped up by his parents for so long.
    The movie also suggests Tim isn't exactly the guy to hang out with at school. As The Boss Baby says, Tim's grades consisted of C's throughout the board, Tim still hangs out with a stuffed animal despite his age, and Tim can't ride his bike without training wheels. This all suggests Tim was really a disappointing figure in his family, despite his parents' supposed love for him, it's obvious that they want a new kid who wouldn't begin in life in such a weak manner.
    But I'm getting off track. So yes, The Boss Baby only exists so Tim can actually have some sort of friend to play with, despite The Boss Baby being an imaginary figure.
    Now as the movie clearly demonstrates, The Boss Baby and Tim don't exactly get along. But still, his parents are busy with this supposed baby, and aren't around for Tim nearly as much. These scenes are difficult, as we can't exactly know what is true and what isn't. In an attempt to defend my point, I'd say most scenes with the parents and the Baby are made up. Though I do believe the scene where his parents are so tired (for all sake and purposes, we'll say they're tired for work, since the upcoming convention has proved to be a stressful deal for them) is indeed, non-fiction. This helps the idea that Tim really was alone, no longer receiving bedtime love, stories, or songs. Tim easily goes in the day alone, but at night is the time where he needs his parents the most, but as shown, they aren't there for him.
    I'm probably skimping over a few details here and there in this review, so I apologize in advance. Leave a comment should you have a question about this theory.
    Anywho, there's a scene in which the guest babies are in Tim's parents house. The obvious reason for this is that Tim's parents are considering the new baby, and thus, bring along some co-workers to discuss the matter in the kitchen. Thinking the Boss Baby is real, Tim spies on the babies. But in a conflict with the Boss Baby, Tim must defend a tape from the babies.
    Now this causes a scene that's pretty crazy. There's an explosion, a broken fence, weapons, and all kinds of stuff all in Tim's backyard. The more comical elements of the situation are fake. But what is real is the, for lack of a better word, abuse, of the babies. As said earlier, Tim is just a lonely boy who wants a friend, and the fact that he has some in his own living room really makes for something existing for Tim. However, as this is the first time he has played with anybody but his parents, let alone a small child, causes some slightly violent situations. Tim is reckless throughout the scene, and the babies end up crying for his mad behavior. This also causes Tim to be grounded by his parents, to which Tim pleads that the baby can talk. But his parents have none of that shit in mind.
    So more things happen, as the pet convention comes up rapidly. Now here is where things get a little murky for my liking, but I'll do my best to defend my points.
    As the movie leads you to believe, the parents are impressed by Tim's new fonded chemistry with the Boss Baby, and thus, bring him along to bring your kid to work day. Using my own set of skills, I have reason to believe the work day existed, but only certain elements of it. Once again, the parents say they can bring the baby along, but this is a fragment of Tim's head.
    They head to the actual work day, as his parents apologize for not being around to play with Tim often, so they ask Tim if he wants some exclusive time to play around. However, Tim declines, in favor of going around the convention alone (well, with the baby). So his parents let him do so.
    A lot of what happens in this scene is fairly fake, as Tim and the Baby go through trap doors, security guards, and other shenanigans. I would detail every single thing, but unfortunately, I don't have the exact movie memorized, so I do apologize. Maybe I'll revisit all of this when the movie comes out on Blu-Ray.
    And who, the final conclusion is that instead of leaving behind one of the parents, both parents go to Vegas instead, leaving behind Tim with a babysitter. As Tim says, he has been with many babysitters before, so it's not like this has been the first time his parents have left him alone. Though it's easy to assume this is the first time his parents were expected to be away for so long, given that Tim is anxious about the entire situation.
    So, the babysitter is put into a trap by Tim (and the Boss Baby would lead you to believe) and he runs off to go to the airport in an attempt to save his parents. More shenanigans ensue, mostly fake, as he is left alone in an airport with the Boss Baby. The thing is, is that Tim blames most of this on The Boss Baby, and so, The Boss Baby gets sick of his attitude to the point where he leaves Tim alone in the airport. Tim weaps alone in the airport, to himself singing Black Bird by the Beatles. As I failed to mention, the song was played previously by his parents before he went to sleep. By singing the song to himself is a symbolic reference to his attempt to find happiness. As well as to remind him of his only true friend, his parents. This scene is indeed real, even if the means of him getting to the airport was rather comical.
    This scene also helps makes obvious the fact that The Boss Baby indeed doesn't exist. Surely, a baby going around an airport alone in a suit would clearly drive some attention, potentially to the point of calling CPS in an attempt to find the baby. But obviously, The Boss Baby comes back later to 'save' Tim and find his parents by going aboard a plane without tickets. From this scene all the way to the beginning of the end, is all mostly fake, as they aboard first class without parents or tickets, get in a limo without cash, aboard a pirate ship (obviously, this was a less grounded scene in the film), almost fall into a boiling pool of... a liquid. It's supposed to be the eternal baby shit, but you know, and also, save his parents by allowing a puppy factory to go hay wire.
    To make things easier, we can presume the baby sitter caught up to the airport, found Tim, and brought him home. The movie also never presents the means of how his parents, Tim, and the baby go home. Instead, they cut to the house like nothing happened, more or less.

    • @debodatta7398
      @debodatta7398 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The Boss Baby finally leaves Tim, as his parents forget the whole situation never happened. A clear red flag that none of it happened. Plus, even if it did, you'd figured, somebody else would know about it, such as the co-workers, or even the babies of the co-workers. I suppose the baby workers could also erase the minds of them, but presuming the baby did actually go to Vegas and work, how many minds would have to be erased at that point? Not to mention, perfectly finding times for those people to be a sleep to wipe their memories. It just seems excessive to me.
      Tim is now alone again, as he writes a letter to the Boss Baby to bring him back. Another red flag here. The address is only labeled as BabyCorp, and so for a regular mailman who probably grew up as any other human being, he would have no fucking clue where to send it. The only way could possibly be if somehow objects also transcended with people into the baby world. Remember, the way to teleport to the baby world is by sucking a pacifier rapidly. And I just can't see how other objects get in, without the object also becoming one with the baby world. Maybe I'm just fucking crazy and thinking about this way too hard. Honestly, if you're somehow still reading this, hats off to you, but go find a life man. You'll find some enjoyment anywhere but here.
      Anywho, one way or another, a new baby is in Tim's house, one who looks just like The Boss Baby. Tim is excited to have the 'Boss Baby' back, even in actual human form. But here's the dark part for me, that I feel would go over most of the audience member's head.
      Obviously, this new baby, despite looking like The Boss Baby, isn't actually the Boss Baby. He can't talk, he can't walk, nada. So Tim, whether he realizes it or not, actually has to rebuild his entire relationship with this new baby, as the baby's memory was completely wiped of Tim, presumably at least. And even if the baby still remembered Tim, there would be no way to communicate that, considering he's an actual baby now, one or must learn to walk, talk and write all over again. So while Tim has succeeded in getting a new friend, or family member at least, it caused the removal of one of his previous friends at that cost.
      IF YOU DON'T WANNA READ THIS SHIT JUST READ THIS M8:
      I have no fucking clue if I'm making sense or not. I hope to god I am. Maybe someone else had this wacky ass fucking theory. But man, with these concepts in your head, really fuck up your viewing of this movie, with plot holes or not. I almost cried at the end of this movie upon my first screening for some of the reasons here. That's something Inside Out couldn't even do. Okay, I'm lying, I almost cried in that one too, but still. All I can say at this point is, until I can debunk my own theory (which would require another viewing of the movie, which I sure as hell ain't doing anytime soon), I'm gonna spread these ideas like wildfire, or at least try to. I have no fucking clue if this will get any attention or not. If it does, good, if not, I shall keep these ideas to myself. So grab a beer, or smoke a bowl, whatever your choosing, buy a 3D ticket, and see for yourself what the fuck is actually going on in this movie.
      Also, like I said, if you somehow sat through this whole review, I don't know what to say to you. Thanks, I guess?

    Yet another interview that doesn't point out the vault monster sized plot hole of the villain's motivation.
    If being lactose intolerant made him not a baby anymore then why did him falling in a vat of that same formula suddenly make him young.
    Also the puppies were still sold just not distributed by rocket.
    The puppies didn't disappear.
    They still have receipts so UPS could just deliver them.
    So boss babys plan still failed.

    The fact that THIS got nominated for an Oscar instead of _Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie_ or _The LEGO Batman Movie_ is a goddamn *_CRIME!_*

    • @boredalot5676
      @boredalot5676 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jackie McCann It would be a crime if Captain Underpants, a movie about a two kids turning their principal into some half-naked hero from their imagination just because they didn't like him, got nominated at all. It may have sounded funny on paper ( in this case, it probably was) but, it was a totally different beast as a movie.

    • @MrLegendofLP
      @MrLegendofLP 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Which is why clearly everyone hated it. I haven't seen it yet but as I understand it the average view of Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie is that it's as good an adaption of the book as you could get and that it actually has some laughs and good comedic timing. It's a movie that knows it wants to be pure comedy and embraces it. Boss Baby doesn't know if it wants to be a comedy or be a story about a kid using his imagination to deal with the fact that he's getting a baby brother. It's tone is confused, and despite that it got an oscar nomination over The LEGO Batman Movie, arguably a much better film than either Boss Baby or Captain Underpants.

      NeoChronoid, scenario of Kimi No Na Wa is a trainwreck. (How come the main guy didn't notice he's in another timeline, etc). Romance isn't really engaging because characters are one-dimentional. You don't really know about them anything, neither their past, nor their goals.I don't really get why people so hyped about this movie. Guess they didn't see a really good piece of Japanese animation.
