This was not a TerminalMontage joke. This is just how like half of all players got to goron city the first time, which TerminalMontage happened to make a joke about. Maybe do literally one Google search before writing a comment
P.S. this out healing strategy is not unique to BoTW, nor was it the first to do this. Many games handled damage zones like this, BoTW is just the most well known example.

On one hand it can be impressive, but on the other hand it can often lead to the writing being rushed and/or poorly thought out.
