    My biggest issue - now that I eat just meat - I eat less - thus losing weight. Also I try to do a 16 hour fast each day which is piece of cake! But if I am hungry upon waking - I ignore the 16 hour fast.

      Most carnivores gravitate to a large omad eventually, unless your extremely active. This is a useful thing that gives us a longer fasting window and ensures a slight glucose bump to knock us outa ketosis for a little bit, which seems to help with hormones and such. Think about it, our ancestors would have hunted, feasted then fasted for 24 hrs sometimes longer if an unsuccessful hunt.

    My experience (we are ALL different) on Keto vs. Carnivore? Keto.....sugar cravings reduced. On Carnivore? Pretty much GONE! I'm a sugar/carb addict. Carnivore has allowed me to totally defeat my cravings for carbs. Even eating small amounts of carbs on keto (even if it is just veggies) made me want to cheat/eat more carbs. Carnivore, at least for me, keeps my desire for them asleep. Carnivore has given me FREEDOM from them (the cravings).
    Great video! 100% agree. Do what works for you. Everyone is different.

      That's my experience as well. Carnivore kills the switch in my body that gets triggered by the thought to have carbs and sweets. Usually I'd have the thought, the thought flips the switch and now I have to 'go get it' in order to turn the switch off.
      The only way that worked for me was to eat plenty of fatty beef. I can't get by just eating chicken, fish, little 6 oz steaks, etc. I only feel truly satiated when I have at least a pound of beef a day

    Here are the key points from the video:
    - There are many misconceptions about the carnivore diet that hold people back from trying it, but the reality is that these misconceptions are inaccurate.
    Myths debunked:
    - You don't need to eat organ meats to be carnivore, but they can provide nutritional benefits.
    - Calories still matter on the carnivore diet, even though you don't need to obsess over them.
    - The carnivore diet does provide enough fiber and prevents constipation.
    - The carnivore diet provides essential nutrients and won't lead to deficiencies like scurvy.
    - The carnivore diet is a distinct lifestyle from keto, not just an extreme version of it.
    - You don't have to be in ketosis all the time on the carnivore diet.
    - The carnivore diet is not just for "crazy" people, but for those who have tried other approaches.
    - The carnivore diet is not just for bodybuilders or weight lifters, it can benefit anyone.
    - The carnivore diet is not boring, there is a lot of variety in the foods you can eat.

    For about a year I have been doing, keto/carnivore and I must say that carnivore is the one I prefer, I recently had to stop my medication for high blood pressure due to the pressure becoming too low, which in itself is a good thing, specialy at my age 55, also I feel good on this diet, I was very heavy a year ago and the body is regaining good functionality, which is the most important part.

      @homesteadingwithPJ no worries. So I was diagnosed with Celiac, IBS, Gerd, Gastritis in the last couple years. Which was shortly after I tried taking Ozempic for a few months. That was pure poison. But I was on like 4 different medications for my gut issues. I had severe nausea all day. Finally got off all that when i started keto but still had ibs and still had alot of thr symptoms. But I was sick of treating the symptoms and not the cause. So keto and fasting from Feb to March. End of March I started carnivore. And I've never felt better! I also have terrible back issues, but I've had the strength and motivation to finally start working out since I feel so good. So my back is healing now too. I feel like I could go on and on about other diagnosis and issues. But all of them besides 1, has been stopped in it's tracks. I feel like I'm cheating. This diet is a cheat code. I still got about a 100 to lose, but im well on my way. 20 lbs in the last 2 weeks. Been slightly gaining the last couple days, but still losing fat. I'm putting on muscle like crazy! And I'm pretty much down to OMAD now. 12-14oz Chuck eye, and 3-4 eggs with a little butter and salt, and water.

    Allow me to ask a couple of question about the Carnivore diet.Sorry fo i alredy posted before but i dont know what to do :
    I am now over 140 days into a Strick Carnivore diet (I only eat meat and eggs. Nothing else 400-500 g of COCKED meat plus 7-8 eggs in a day. All Divided in 2 meals) I am now 35 years old, 181cms tall, 180lbs(+-81,5kg) at +-22%BF. I go to the gym 2-3 times a week.(lift weigths to help sustain or increase muscle mass and assist fat loss)
    I started the Carnivore diet to improve my body composition. I was a HEALHTY guy with NO chronic illnesses or health problems.
    I lost about 17 lbs in the first 6 weeks (Mostly water) but since then I haven't been able to change my body composition. I have now gone more than 6 weeks without registering any body changes (weight loss, decrease in BF% or measurements).In fact i have gained 2,5 lbs in the last 3 weeks but might be just water.
    I still need to lose at least another 15lbs of fat to reach my goal of being below 15%BF. However, I don't see how the Carnivora Diet will facilitate this process. I have not experienced most of the benefits common to Carnivores (Improved sleep, more energy/disposition, etc.) nor can I change my body composition.
    So I would like to ask more experienced Carnivores:
    1- How long should I extend my experience with the Carnviroa diet to be able to lose the excess bodyfat I still have?(at least 15lbs of fat)
    2- What is the minimum time you should maintain a Carnivora diet when it is not working for you?
    3-Is the Carnivore diet effective for those who are aldreay healthy and just need to improve body composition?
    I am affraid this way of eating is too restrictive, for a healthy person, with no aditional benefit from any other whole food diet.(with Calorie control)
    PS: Most of my time as a CArnivre i have not experience most Carnivore benefits or lost any body fat.
    Also, Sorry for any grammar mistake, i am Brazilian and english is not my first language.
    Thank you for your attention!

      Since you haven't seen the traditional benefit, it's probably not your exact prescription. Perhaps you examine the foods that historically works for your family with similar body composition. Also, ask yourself if the goal of 15 percent is too strict for you to remain healthy?

    • @lf7065
      @lf7065 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You are not eating ENOUGH food! You probably require far more calories than you're currently consuming. The body holds on when it feels deprivation.

    • @homesteadingwithPJ
      @homesteadingwithPJ  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Hello! I agree with both of the comments below. 15% body fat is pretty low extreme so you'll have to do some extreme stuff to get there, having said that, the food intake you described sounds like it's only around 1500 calories, which is extremely low. If you are in a strict calorie deficit like that for a long time (you said 140 days) your body will resist the weight loss because it thinks you're starving. I would up your calories 2 days a week (good for your body to loosen the brakes, and good for your mind so you don't burn out). The calorie fluctuation like that really seems to help with resistant weight loss. Try that out for a month or so and let us know how it goes!

      @@lf7065 How so? I used the Carnivore diet calculator to asses how much food i should eat to lose body fat. I dont feel hungry also...
      How can i calculate how much meat and eggs i need?

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      A pound of cooked beef has about 117 grams of protein. 7 eggs, about 42 grams of protein. It you're trying to build muscle, you probably need more than 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight, so you aren't eating enough protein. I put your weight into a carnivore calculator and you're eating way too little. The minimum for you for muscle maintenance, not gain, was 900 grams of meat and 2132 calories. If you want to gain muscle, you need about 1,100 grams of meat. So there's your answer; you're starving yourself. You need to eat more.

    Good points from veggies in US, but here in Europe in general we don´t have loads of chemicals in our veggies so keto is very good option here. We don´t have to worry about meet either. Here we don´t have to worrie when we buy beef becouse it is always grass fed there ain´t hormones of antibiotics in the meat either. These are the good benefits as living in EU and for my case one of the cleanest country on earth Finland.
    That blood test does not tell you are you on ketosis or not. It just tells how much you have ketones in your blood. After a while on ketogenic lifestyle your body lerns to use ketones better and there isn´t as much ketones in your blood like you´ve had into begining. But if you consume too much of carbs, that might kick you out of ketosis and your body stops fat burning and starts to live with the carbs again. I´ve been kicked out of ketosis twice as i had stupid idea to have a "treat day" and i can say for sure i felt the difference. It was horrible. My joint pains got back and i felt that i had like almost the worst hangover feeling ever. And for one day with carbs made me suffer two long days. Then i was back in the track.
    Well i made same mistake once after that, but i didn´t went so carb crazy than first time so i suffered only one day before getting back to track. So no more carbs, in´t worth of it. I usually keep carbs under 20g a day on keto. But i tasted few months ago that i could eat even 50 grams without getting kicked out of keto, but i rather play safe than be sorry. Not going to risk for no good reason. I´ve been on ketosis now 11 months in a row.

      First half of the book is just reading through the science of it, back half of the book is recipes. She was able to find this one at our library so it may be worth checking your library first.

    Calories are not relevant to weight in any way of eating. It is a measurement of heat energy (photons), and they have no rest mass. If the only way to lose weight is to be in a calorie deficit, you’d have to be in a state of hypothermia in order to lose weight. And weight in itself is not a useful metric, what matters is what that weight is made up of.

      Some people have bad reactions to the protective chemicals in vegetable matter. Vegetables make self-protective chemicals to keep bugs and animals from eating them. The amounts in nature are minute, but some people are exceptionally sensitive to them. These chemicals can cause all sorts of unpleasant conditions, like arthritis and nerve pain.

My scale only ever drops down when I eat less than 1200cal but the mental toll is terrible. I’m just so stuck and no idea what to do now that carnivore has failed me too. I need to lose 30lbs minimum so it’s not like it’s the ‘last 5lbs’ situation either.

      We grow herbs and fruits (no more veg). We also grow flowers for pollinators. I'm not at my target BF% yet, but I plan to reintroduce seasonal fruit when I get there. In the meantime, my kids like the fruit, and I'll eat an occasional strawberry when they are ripe.
      Also a lot of what we grow is food for our chickens.

    The one thing you didn't mention about the carnivore diet is that It's "Bloody Expensive"! So if you want to do carnivore you'd better have a healthy Bank balance. Another thing to point out is that American Beef and Chicken and other meats are Banned from the UK and European Market place because the Animals are fed with Hormone and Anti-biotic supplements during the feeding process to increase yield. That would worry me if I were American living on just meat. Just saying! Grass fed is even more expensive but if you've got the money go for it.

    • @homesteadingwithPJ
      @homesteadingwithPJ  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I actually found it's similar to our family's usual grocery bill, but with far less food waste (and food prep time in the kitchen, which I love).
      Anyone else?
      I agree about the food quality in America! It's such a shame. We raise our own grass fed, pasture-raised lamb and forest-raised pork here and buy chicken/beef locally from great farms we support. We only have to run to the store for meat when we run out of bulk orders of meat.

    • @edennis8578
      @edennis8578 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's not all bad. I can buy wild-caught fish and hormone-free chicken is available at my local store. I buy eggs from cage-free, organically raised chickens. We have beef from hormone free grass fed cattle for less than $7/pound. The biggest drain on America's food budget is actually junk food. A small bag of potato chips, for instance, is now $7. So once you cut out junk food, going carnivore doesn't cost that much.

    • @adeaston6553
      @adeaston6553 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@edennis8578 Thanks for your kind reply. It's always fun to figure out American and UK differences as you guys are still in the dark ages using Lbs, Oz's, quarts, and cups, feet, inches, and yards. On this side of the Pond we use the metric system (as does most of the world). So 2.2lbs is aprox 1Kg. so 1lb would be a little over 500gms. a 250g rib eye over hear is about £4.50. We don't have to choose between Grass fed or hormone fed over hear as hormone fed doesn't exist (it's Illegal) although we can choose our meat from source ie Angus beef, which is Scottish beef(the best) Welsh Lamb(the best) free range chicken or corn fed chicken all of which are high end, or just the regular of all of the above. Beef prices in the UK have risen by 20% since the end of covid and supermarkets now put security labels on beef and high end meat products to prevent shop lifting. How big is a bag of chips (crisps in the UK) to warrant $7 a bag?? Crisps in the UK are £1 per 100g. all Crisps are sold in 25g bags to prevent binge eating.
