That is truly amazing. I've been in jewelry for over 35 years. I am retired for health reasons unfortunately. This kind of craftsmanship, hand fabrication, I haven't seen an probably 30 years. Unbelievable work truly.
As an goldsmith off 20 yrs it's always a pleasure to see somebody else doing a job you yourself has done many times and it's always amazing howmuch techniques differ and , hey I never thought of doing it that way. and even after 20yrs on the job you still can learn something by watching another.👍
John do, After 54years at the bench, it as great to watch yo video. And yes I’m going to use the clock spring trick when soldering Ta! Neat setting too. Cheers, Al H.
zee ya It has a blue gem on it. So it definetely has some sort of Cold Resistance m8. At least +10! Also +150 to 250 Mana of course...If you can make a set of it with all the necklace and the earring etc. you get +2 Glow and +%65 resistance to poverty. But the disadvantage is that you get -%75 resistance to robbery. :(
I do my fair share of wood working and some blacksmithing aswell, and I can say the same. These are things it takes years to master and countless hours to create. Definitely not anything you’d do for the money, it’s all about the satisfaction of knowing you made it and you made it right.
I have watched many of your videos, some multiple times. And out of all the ones ive seen so far this one is my favorite because you kept the background noise of your work included in the final video. I love that and would like to watch more videos like that. Hearing the sounds of your work is relaxing somehow :)
***** becaue one slip and not only have you ruined hours of work by the faceter to get a perfect polish if a customer sees the scratch and it's a valuable stone you have no idea how hard it is to return that stone to the machine and achieve that perfect polish again. i've had customers that bought my stones and brought them back to me after being set with scratched from this crap and wanted me to "repolish....then you tell them you can't with out taking it out of the setting and they are heart broken...this us exactly why i never recommend jewelry setters to anyone...if they scratch the shit out of my work i don't want to be responsible That looks to be a sapphire and that and diamonds you can get away with a touch from a jewelers saw but there are other stones not so hard down the mohs scale that would be ruined...sometimes a single facet take 10 minutes to polish and there are probably near 100 facets in that stone
but when a jeweler sets his stones perfectly aren't you proud that your work is represented in a beautiful peace of craftsmanship? i would if i was a stone cutter be so proud on my work if someone would wear my work its worth the risk
That was an amazing job! I appreciate fine jewelry and THIS was one of the finest! I am SO jealous of your talent and hard work! I once watched an 80 year old man make a ring for me...awesome and fascinating at the same time! Wow...just wow!
You've given me a better appreciation of the work and time that goes into jewelry and that's not even taking into account the stone work. I normally flick through some videos but yours is so interesting and well edited showing all the steps without unnecessary repetition. Brilliant job, thankyou!
Thanks for uploading, I'm learning a lot . The finished etching on this one wasn't like the skull and snake. Still looks spectacular. Seeing how you set the gems ,without prongs very nice to see.
+edvard brandsæter Probably just because metadata analysis algorithm predicted that right then you'd have watched this video and made youtube suggest it to you. It's all about keeping your attention at that advertising machine.
very nice ring very well put together i see you do you own stone setting too even more amazing , because most of jeweler dont do their own setting i will look forward for more great stuff like this thank you for sharing.
I am Italian. I studied in Valenza Po and and I know reality of Vicenza, the school that I attended was preparing modeler. By the time I learned that objects made by hand have better mechanical properties, for the production addressed directly to the needs of each customer often can not use of a mold made for another, finally machining costs often account for a marginal impact on the cost of materials. Aside from the profit margins of each step of the supply chain from production to sale, have you ever looked at what costs a jewelry with precious stones to the final consumer compared to the cost of the base material.
I don't really agree with the design/aesthetic at the end, but that's unimportant. This is still great work and very delicate, fantastic craftsmanship. :D
Great video. Hard work but it's always worth it. I prefer working in the same way. The time is back again when people can appreciate hard handcrafted work.
As usual absolutely beautiful...and the mastery in which you demonstrate is spot -on...I have 2 beautiful blue sapphires that need ur attention.my wife and I would like to have identical his-hers rings...silver metal...
So just imagine all the mass production rings then which most people pay over $900.00 for a 9ct ring let alone a 18 ct ring which was hand made, like the super bowel rings ? Which are all hand made and only use hi quality diamonds and other jewels ? I wonder how much that ring would cost based on the size and the jewels as well ?
Thank you for taking the time to show us this craftsmanship. I've always been intimidated by jewelcraft but had I seen a video like this in my 20's (no such thing as videos then, just big & cumbersome projectors), I would have taken training in a heartbeat & I would have saved myself decades in mostly thankless careers encased within an office space. I'm a very crafty person & have usually been successful at everything I've tried. If you can't work professionally in that which you love, do it in your spare time as a hobby, it will help you retain your sanity, hehe.
Nathaniel moore in my videos I want teach how to carry jewelry by hand. I know that people have different tastes and what really like for someone are ugly for others. It is a beautiful world that's made of diversity.
That ring looks like what a pirate captain would wear. I have 21 ring's and 28 stud's and a couple of earrings and 17 or more necklaces. Keep up the awesome job

No wonder jewelleries cost a fortune. The level of craftmenship needed to make one is extraordinary.
Thanks
lol finally some one who gets it as an goldsmith we often get why does it have to be so expensive. because it takes a lot of time and expertise.
I do my fair share of wood working and some blacksmithing aswell, and I can say the same. These are things it takes years to master and countless hours to create. Definitely not anything you’d do for the money, it’s all about the satisfaction of knowing you made it and you made it right.
Not really 99% of jewellers make these rings cast from a wax pattern complete with settings

me to and I'm a Goldsmith
why?
***** becaue one slip and not only have you ruined hours of work by the faceter to get a perfect polish if a customer sees the scratch and it's a valuable stone you have no idea how hard it is to return that stone to the machine and achieve that perfect polish again.
i've had customers that bought my stones and brought them back to me after being set with scratched from this crap and wanted me to "repolish....then you tell them you can't with out taking it out of the setting and they are heart broken...this us exactly why i never recommend jewelry setters to anyone...if they scratch the shit out of my work i don't want to be responsible
That looks to be a sapphire and that and diamonds you can get away with a touch from a jewelers saw but there are other stones not so hard down the mohs scale that would be ruined...sometimes a single facet take 10 minutes to polish and there are probably near 100 facets in that stone
but when a jeweler sets his stones perfectly aren't you proud that your work is represented in a beautiful peace of craftsmanship? i would if i was a stone cutter be so proud on my work if someone would wear my work its worth the risk
yes but there are very simply ways to avoid scratching the stone that he didn't do
Such skilled craftsmanship
