Your explanation has been of immense value to me Master Soper...I'm working on a project that utilizes Firewalls for designing a Web Infrastructure. Your video has saved me lots of resource crunching efforts and - even if I would do some crunching (wink wink) - understanding the said resources has become N times easier to be very honest. Its been 10 years and counting and your video on Firewalls still stands strong. I guess its a good indicator of the actual Firewalls you build too. Thanks once again for your time and your attention to the details of this concept. Now if you'd excuse me I'm about to re-watch and take notes ^_^
one of the most elucidating presentations i have seen, basic and explanatory- wanted to show my kid and explain a firewall and its a fantastic collection of facts. Kudos to Dr. Soper and hope he does more presentations like this
Thank you so much for this video! You are a great teacher and you speak slowly so I can understand. Too many other people trying to describe things talk so fast I can't comprehend what they say. But you are great!
I appreciate the analogy of the castle with the extra wall layer for security architecture. Presents an easier picture to understand the multiple layer of security.
THANK YOU, Dr. Soper; I've just discovered your teaching videos. I think they're VERY well done, I like your style and am looking forward to learning a lot of good things from you to further extend my career, abilities and general knowledge of these subjects. Than you very much for doing this.
Thank you for this video, you have helped me a lot in getting understand the Network Security firewall... I have written an article based on it for AGC Networks where I found it is helpful.
Raylet2 I really think your comment is not only sexist but also inappropriate on this platform. I grew up with an interest for coding or computers in general and I love what I'm doing.
Hey i want to be your friends Maria, My name is Max. Do you have blog or website or any social media so i can contact you? I would like to volunteer myself to participate in any cyber security projects. Hope you will reply this soon Thanks Maria :)
So, I'm watching this and around 5:32 he gives a broad definition of a port scanner. He states that it will show you open ports AND what known vulnerabilities are for that port.....a port scanner (nmap for example) only tells you the state of the ports that you are scanning, if you want to see vulnerabilities, you have to use a vulnerability scanner (nessus, retina...etc).
Very bless by this particular lecture for this powerful presentation. I just ventured a network engineering course with no IT background but find things pretty complex. Dr. Please I want you to recommend a book for me about networking and stuffs because I perceive this networking journey could be a tough one as technology revolves. Besides how I wish my couse instructor could make things easy and well understood like your teachings. Dr. Please I want to talk to you via email.
I agree that he explains this subject in a beautiful way but the material can be found in Security In Computing book by Charles P. Pfleeger , Shari Lawrence Pfleeger & Jonathan Margulies. Hope this helps if you are still looking to learn more about this.
