one of the most elucidating presentations i have seen, basic and explanatory- wanted to show my kid and explain a firewall and its a fantastic collection of facts. Kudos to Dr. Soper and hope he does more presentations like this

Thank you so much for this video! You are a great teacher and you speak slowly so I can understand. Too many other people trying to describe things talk so fast I can't comprehend what they say. But you are great!

Your explanation has been of immense value to me Master Soper...I'm working on a project that utilizes Firewalls for designing a Web Infrastructure. Your video has saved me lots of resource crunching efforts and - even if I would do some crunching (wink wink) - understanding the said resources has become N times easier to be very honest. Its been 10 years and counting and your video on Firewalls still stands strong. I guess its a good indicator of the actual Firewalls you build too. Thanks once again for your time and your attention to the details of this concept. Now if you'd excuse me I'm about to re-watch and take notes ^_^

Very bless by this particular lecture for this powerful presentation. I just ventured a network engineering course with no IT background but find things pretty complex. Dr. Please I want you to recommend a book for me about networking and stuffs because I perceive this networking journey could be a tough one as technology revolves.
Besides how I wish my couse instructor could make things easy and well understood like your teachings.
Dr. Please I want to talk to you via email.

So, I'm watching this and around 5:32 he gives a broad definition of a port scanner. He states that it will show you open ports AND what known vulnerabilities are for that port.....a port scanner (nmap for example) only tells you the state of the ports that you are scanning, if you want to see vulnerabilities, you have to use a vulnerability scanner (nessus, retina...etc).
