I'd argue PAT is layer 4 since a device implementing it must be aware of layer 4 protocols and interact with their headers in order to perform its function. Ports are after all a transport layer concept.

Now is it possible to find the original IP using the NAT? I’m trying to monitor activity in my Xbox servers, and can’t seem to find a valid IP address, I was thinking that maybe I’m receiving the fake IP like what you’re talking about in the video. 5:16 Why do we need to assign ports if NAT offers different addresses inside the local network?

Client addresses are different but what if multiple clients establish TCP connections from same source port(eg:26650)? A distinction is very necessary. A NAT device will always pick another port number so that 26650 wouldn't be repeated in the NAT translation table.
