Whether it's a 3 hour flight or a 16 hour flight, I pack my flight essentials [cell phone, nasal spray, medications, lens case (with solution in it), eyeglasses, gum, tissues, Shout wipes, antibacterial wipes, hand sanitizer, face mask, eye mask, small hairbrush, etc.] into a sports fanny pack that I'll wear if airline not strict, or put into my personal item if they are. Once at my seat, I strap it around the back of my tray table. It doesn't interfere with the operation of the tray table, everything is safely within reach and not falling onto floor, and there's no need to use the yucky seat pocket except for trash.
Jeez, I would not fly if I had to remember all that stuff😆 I have not flown since 2007 and the last flight was 4 hours, which was 2 hours too long. Gaz UK.
@@GinaStanyerBooks Even on long flights? I would think that gets uncomfortable. Also, I find it easier to retrieve things that are hanging in front of me.
@@Gazr965 It's not that much stuff (all small) and actually easy to remember because I have packing lists. We generally fly 3-4 roundtrips each year, with no flights shorter than 3 hours, and at least one in excess of 8 hours (even as long as 16 hours).
Hoodie, love them for flights, unzip if too hot, put the hood on if too cold, tie around the waste if wanted. Large scarf, if cold use as a blanket. I always take a down vest if my destination has cold weather, super light, compacted and with a scarf you’ll be warm.
We have an overseas flight coming up from Kelowna YLW to Heathrow via Calgary YYC. With the neck pillow, I turn mine backwards and have the connection on the back so the thick part supports my chin. I purchased one of those foot sling for my trip to London. I'm short-leg, so I thought it would be perfect. Well, it made me feel like my legs were up on my chest. I agree with you about getting up and moving around. On that same trip, my ankles swelled to the point I was practically crying and stayed that way the whole time i was in London. The compression socks I packed were found deep in a side pocket. I'm going to ID from PA this summer, and you can bet where those socks will be: near the top.
I am watching all these videos about planning for a trip on a plane. Planning is almost as good as the trip for me. I haven’t flown since I was three and I’m 64 now. Such is my fear. I want to get over that fear so I try to get excited about the planning. Sounds ridiculous, I know. I’m trying everything because my husband really wants to fly to destinations and I hate the thought of holding him back. He would never pressure me but I’m pressuring me. I’ve been reading books, buying online fear of flying courses, watching videos etc. Wish me luck.
I’m 64 as well and I can say that I feel like I need more things with me than I did when I was twenty. Aspirin, compression socks, ear plugs, eye mask, snacks, a wrap…. Being prepared can help reduce your anxiety.
I used to feel the same way until I worked at the airport. At my desk I saw planes take off and land all day long. After seeing that so much, I don’t have the fear I used too!
I have a long-haul flight coming up in a couple of days. After several cancellations and rescheduling, we got bumped up to business class, so I plan to be the person who eats dinner and then sacks out for the rest of the flight!
just want you to know that i found your channel when i was 16 and going to an exchange program, 2 years later i'm back to get new tips to visit my host family! you're amazing!!
I have 2 of the tray table seatback pouches. OMG I cannot travel without these now. My toddler loves being able to put her sippy cup, her snack container, toys, books, tablet, etc ALL in one place without them being on her lap and on the floor. These have almost completely eliminated the need for me to reach into our personal items under the seat during the flight. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND
One time I was traveling international and found someone's passport on the floor next to the toilet on the plane. It was dark and thank goodness I was able to see it. Gave it to the flight attendant.
I took your advice a year ago and got the cover for the tray table. It is awesome because I do not need to use the seat pocket in front of me and I avoid germs and the possibility of leaving something on the plane.
Thanks, Laurie for all your great tips. I got the tray table cover after you first suggested it and get lots of questions about it. The best feature is drinks stay put and don’t spill on it. Appreciate the suggestion. 😊
Lori.. the last 3 + years I have bought many of the items you have suggested for my trips. I love the tray cover with pockets. Everyone should have them. Game charger. 😊
I was on an overnight flight recently and a passenger across the aisle was using a travel light to read by in the dark. She kept moving it around as she turned the page and it would flash in my eyes. I wouldn’t use a travel light because I wouldn’t want to disturb other passengers trying to sleep.
You never know what visual disturbances will occur. On my first international flight, we were a ways back from the bathrooms but the bathroom lights were positioned directly into my eyes-that door continuously opened and shut all night long-the light was on and off and on and off- maddening! This is why I started bringing an eye mask.
I love the Unbound Merino hoodie for travel. The hoodie keeps my neck warm and doubles as an eye cover. It’s thin and doesn’t jut my head forward and is great for temperature regulation without added weight. I use a buff as a scarf and eye mask. Love your videos.
Same - I got an alpaca hoody that is thin but cozy, and have a merino buff that I’ll use as an eye mask and also as a neck warmer when we are above the arctic circle.
These are great reminders for our upcoming long-haul (LAX - LHR) flight. We'll be sleeping most of the all-nighter flight (business class) to be ready to go once we touch down at Heathrow. (Wife of a DFW pilot)
😝 Not even 30 minutes ago, I had just sent my nephew a text, asking him if he has at least one lock for his backpack when he goes to the restroom on the airplane. I told him, “Your neighbor might seem nice, but it doesn’t mean they’re not a kleptomaniac!”
Your tip for the tiny silicone zip close bags, PERFECTION! I bought them before our European Balkan Island cruise. We separated each day's vitamins/supplements/meds in them. We could easily pop them in our pocket so we had them after breakfast - wherever we were. A Win for sure! After use, I filled them with sand from each beach we visited for a fun souvenir.
Great information, thanks. I always keep my air travel comfort kit in that tray table pocket, it's great for flying. When you're wiping down your seat area, don't forget the head rest. You CAN catch things like head lice if the person using the seat before you had them. You can't be sure that everyone has the same hygeine standards that you do, so you do want to clean off the head rest.
The little compression ‘pillow’ bag also works for those with back pain. I place it between my lower back and the chair. 😊 I’m in my 40’s from Connecticut and I’ve been watching you for a little over two years. This is my first comment but I just want to say that I love you ❤
Hey Laurie! I love your positivity, creativity and style! My son left last week for a 7 week study abroad program. He had a Level 8 suitcase, clothes packed in compression cubes, small packs of liquid detergent (his professor also suggested) and other items you have shown. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and taking the stress out of the unknown!
Detergent sheets weigh nothing and you can tear off small pieces if you are washing a few things in a sink or zip lock bag. No liquid mess either. They are all I use at home or away.
As I age ( kicking & screaming the entire way) my needs are so minimal. Thank you for all the tips Laurie, as I employ them on our RV journey. It just gets me ready for my next international flight. My clothes are now in compression cubes, my toiletries are minimal & travel well and my shoes are not always stored together. That last issue is not intentional But RV travel just helps me stay in a backpack/ under seat luggage scenario. And hello Aullie ! Nanna Wanda
I know you say that the Cabeaux neck pillow is for tall necks only, but I have a short neck and a short torso and love it. I take a cloth book bag in my backpack, then fold my coat into it to make a pad to sit on - more or less a booster seat. 😂 I can’t stay awake on a plane, so it’s been so helpful on long haul flights to have that support and not wake up with a “crick” in my neck!
I’ve started going on knitting cruises and retreats so now I have my knitting with me on flights. It’s essential. Compression bags work great for all the yarn I buy while traveling.
I’ll be traveling to Australia and New Zealand and want to buy yarn there. Have you been there? If so, any suggestions for yarn stores? I’m having trouble finding good recommendations. Thanks!
@@crochetcreations3232 I’m going on a knitting cruise to Australia & New Zealand next February. I haven’t looked for yarn stores there since it depends on which cities you’ll be visiting. I’ve just searched on the internet and it’s usually successful.
You should do a Havila Cruise in Norway! It's perfect for knitting! Very quiet. And I saw several people knitting or crocheting on my cruise. The yarn there's awesome!
@@crochetcreations3232 I’m traveling to Japan in a couple of weeks and then on a knitting cruise around New Zealand and to Australia. There are some yarn stores that look really good in both countries. It’s a fun souvenir
I love the Dr. Segal compression socks and they look like trouser socks if I wear the black socks with black shoes. Quince also makes a decent quality cashmere sweater for a great price.
I have a reusable grocery tote from Amazon comes in a tiny 2x3 bag. I use it a lot in Hawaii grocery shopping but you can use it for your jacket to use as a pillow. I am normally warm in plane but always have a light jacket for travel m.
Thanks for the tips. I gave up on a neck pillow long ago after I left it on the plane once. I try to minimize what I bring so it was one less thing to carry. We did get the foldie for propping up the phone and it works great. Got an AirFly and looking forward to trying that on next trip.
I need that hoodie for traveling. Out and about, it’s great for different weather. Everyone’s body is different. I’ve definitely learned this by talking to people. My friend buys a neck pillow at the airport, then dumps it when she arrives. Going home, she does the same thing. It’s only $15 each way. I was on a flight, and someone had one of those little reading lights. The flight attendant made her turn it off because it was bothering her neighbors, something to keep in mind. I bring nose spray. A new bottle for each trip. It will flush germs, etc. while on the flight, and in airports. Also, always bring antibacterial wipes. I also have them in my purse, sometimes restrooms won’t have what you need. Some airlines will provide a tiny tube of toothpaste and a disposable toothbrush for use on the flight. I use it once on the plane and once when we get off into the airport. Love the idea of toothpaste tablets!!!
I pack a zipper pouch for items I want at my seat: snacks, Noise canceling headphones, tissues, lip balm, wisp toothbrushes, ink pen, tray table wipes, hand lotion, hand sanitizer. (The liquids shift from the 3-1-1 bag to this bag after security.) Yes for compression socks. I also pack a small pouch for “ladies bathroom needs” pads, wipes, tissue pack, spare pare of undies. For the neck pillow, I have an old one with an inflatable inner tube. It takes up way less space, but someone gave me an idea to stuff it with a spare Tshirt and socks.
I travel with my light and beautiful pashmina :) Works like a charm. I use a good quality inflatable neck pillow I can adjust to wherever I need support.
I love my neck pillow! I have learned to use it in some positions that help me to sleep. Plus, in my last trip by train, the pillow in Amtrak is not good in my opinion, my husband liked it. So, I put my neck pillow in a flat position and worked wonderfully.
This is off topic but I'd love to see your hair routine. I love your hair and it's so cute . How do you style it and what products you use. You are the best 💕
have I mentioned that I am thrilled with the Travelpro luggage you recommended? I know I mentioned I prefer the two wheel luggage over the spinners. I use straps to train them together, and I was able to wheel a hundred pounds of luggage through the airport with one finger. (hopefully we'll be lighter for the long haul flight - I won't have to bring tools) also, again, the Bogush medicine cooler is great for insulin pens. the TSA may need to hand check it, but she said, "I just ordered one of these"
Hi Laurie, What traveling hacks do you have for first time flying travelers? For example luggage, clothing;etc. Personally I absolutely adore medium/small luggage. Your input please. Love your videos.
Please make a video about business travel tips and tricks. When you have to walk off the plane, and into a taxi to a meeting or presentation. Also best formal and business shoes for plane rides, etc. Thanks! ❤
Hi, I am not sure there are any other tips for business vs other seats. I would have to think about shoes for plane rides. Are they business, nice restaurant, water-resistant? So many factors. I love supportive shoes so that would be key. Can you describe more of your needs or questions?
I had a lot of business trips in the past, but I guess, for now the rules have changed, at least in some countries. It still depends on your company though. But I see much more women wearing sport shoes in business exhibition events etc. where you get on-off the plane and must be moving a lot. In the past I used to use some slip-in with medium heel and close forepart for flight cosiness when longer flight when foot might swell etc. , because you need to have shoes with closed forepart for business meeting in many countries / cultures.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I guess, the question was, what kind of shoes would be appropriate for business ladies on long flights, where you probably cannot be wearing sports shoes at arrival when you head direct to a meeting etc.
Laurie!! Each video ALWAYS gives something new!! ❤❤ with my autism textures are a huge thing and cashemires are a no no. So always avoid the part of the clothes for the plain, but i loveddd the hack of the hoodie without its a great idea!!! Because also it gets uncomfortable having it in your back! Thank you 😊😊😊
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie 😊 it takes a lot of daily work and acceptance that certain things are not for you haha a lot, textures: clothes, food, bedding, shoes and the list goes on. Food is the hardest for me. Next Argentina on July and on August, Perú. Maybe Paraguay in October that's not confirmed yet. 💝😊
I sleep well on flights but, my head falls forward and I wake with a painful neck. After I found the neck pillow that you highlighted, I no longer have that sore neck. It’s worth the space for me!
For packing to come home, take all your dirty clothes and fold them. I found they take up way less space than just wadding them up and who cares if they wrinkle, they’re dirty. You can also presort them for laundry when you get home. I put mine in a shopping bag then put any clean clothes in a packing cube.
Great advice! Thank you! I have a few favorite hacks: 1. I put on my “flying fuzzy socks” while lining up at security. Once cleared, I take them off and put back on my regular socks and sneakers. I get all cozied up on the plane and pull out the flying socks and put them on again. When I need to get up, I take off the socks and slip into my sneakers. Moral of the story… the inside of my sneakers won’t get all gross and dirty. 2. I wear prescription glasses. A must have is my eyeglass case to put them in when I sleep. I do the same at our accommodations. What a nightmare to have your glasses broken! PS - I also travel with a tiny eyeglass repair kit and several glass wipes. 3. An RIFD blocking travel neck pouch. We’ve used neck pouches often, but I just bought a blocking one today. My passport, credit cards, DL, cash and a small pill box with several days worth of my meds fit in it perfectly. In the event of an evacuation, I’ll shove my cell in there too. I’ll use it at our destinations as well. 4. ONE container with all the little snacks! So easy to pass around with travel partners too. 5. A travel pouch of Clorox wipes and several disposable gloves. We wipe down our zones and also in the bathroom 🤢. Really easy to ball up the wipe, take off the glove inside out and throw away. Germs are bad! Happy travels! ✈️
I had another influencer state that the tray table cover interferes with your leg room. You are tall, do you find that a problem? Also how do the Nordstrom cashmere sweaters hold up?
Just got to say that I’m going to streamline my in flight essentials for long haul trips. Comb, chapstick, essential meds for the flight, maybe nasal spray, toothpicks. So many trips I hauled around and did not use eyedrops, and whatnot, that stuff I haven’t used.
I always get cold so I do bring a zippered hoodie. Easier to take off and I can use the hood if my ears get cold. Or turn it backwards and you have a little pouch, too.
Flying back from Ghana, a young male traveler shivered the whole flight from the cold. The United blanket did not help much. I felt for him bc he did not have Laurie's travel tips. Game changer for me. Thank you much ❤
Please do a video for those of us who wear hearing aids...noncharging on an international trip. I'm deaf in one ear and must wear a hearing aid in the other. My questions include if I need to report this as a handicapp, I cannot hear well far away from the flight instructions, is this a possibility to getting a seat upgrade. Many concerns as I've not flown since having my hearing aid and will be flying to London from Oregon in the fall. Appreciate any tips so as to relieve my anxiety. Thank you
I have moderate hearing loss on both ears and wear hearing aids in both. I do list hearing loss as a disability when buying my tickets and it shows on my boarding pass. I get my seats close to the front of economy seats so I can hear over the loud speaker and their voice as they are speaking. Carry extra batteries where you can access them readily. Mine are rechargeable but sometimes the charge isn't enough if it has been a long day. I keep the batteries in my flight pouch at all times. I had an issue being able to hear the FA during drink service and I told the person next to me that I had a hearing deficit and they very kindly told her what I was wanting. It is amazing how noisy it gets during drink service. Noisy areas are confusing to those of us with hearing aids. Makes it extremely hard to hear.
For me, I use the Colgate wisps. They're prefilled miniature toothbrushes that don't require water. I have dentures and can only wear the tops, so the tablets aren't good for me since chewing them is non-existent lol. And with the Wisps, I'm actually brushing my teeth instead of just freshening my mouth....oh, and when I go to places where I can't drink their water like in Africa, the Wisps come in handyfor the everyday care.
I think it's funny you bring Clorox wipes then put your essentials bag into the seat back pocket without protection. That pocket is where people put used tissues and gum...all the yucky and its never disinfected. I'd carry a grocery bag to protect your bag inside the pocket then pitch it as you get off the plane.
I disagree with sandals, especially traveling to a warm destination, just put on your compression socks with them. Then when you land, take the socks off and you're good to go. I also have a thin jersey tavel blanket that is also great for hotels or even a beach blanket- travel blanket is a must for me as long as it isn't thick and bulky.
Great ideas as always Laurie. Do you have a video or tips for people taking two trips on one? I’m going to New York City for 3 days on February, then to East and South Africa for 3 weeks. Packing is going to be a real tricky situation 😂
Hi Laurie, I've just added to my shopping list, thank you🥴I bought the neck pillow you suggested a few years ago and it is comfy. Can you please remind me of where to find, and also what it's called, the phone protector for on the beach in sunny climates so it doesn't overheat? think I'll be needing one for my Greek island trip, thanks
I prefer wired earbuds to airpods, but they don't work with phones that don't have a headphone jack. just fine for seatback screens, though. I use Sephia brand, they don't tangle, and my first pair survived three years of yanking them out multiple times a day. as a guy I use a jacket for my "flight items" carrier. it has 4 big cargo pockets and a hidden pocket in the placket that I carry my passport in. I carry my phone, kindle, anything I would normally have in my pants pockets, (except my leatherman micra) a couple granola bars, my earbuds, and I can drop anything I pick up in the airport, as well. we bought Mrs K a neck pillow before the last international flight, and she didn't use it. addendum: I wore my compression socks for the short haul flights last month, and it was nice. also made it easy to slip the shoes off and on for security.
I love your videos, so helpful. I wanted to bring my neck pillow but now I'll bring a compression bag to use as a pillow, great idea to save space. Do you have any recommendations about watching movies during the flight if you have hearing aids? Do I need over the ear headphones? Thank you
I love the Trtl for long trips; for me, it really works when I sleep. And it is so small and lightweight... nothing like a blow up or prestuffed neck pillow that can be awkward to deal with once you arrive at your destination. The Trtl easily squishes into your suitcase when you don't need it. I also love the Napwrap which is a tiny thing that supports your arms without an armrest (so wonderful when traveling alone) and can also be used as an eye mask. Finally, while I like the book light you have, I LOVE my Kindle paperwhite. It has an adjustable backlight so you can read in all light levels from pitch black to beach side. It also carries dozens and dozens of books on it, and can even be used as an area light in a hotel room.
For a long haul flight I need a neck pillow but only the one that is taller that holds my head up. It comes up past my jaw and there is no comparison with those blowup or short ones that help give you a crook in your neck. I don’t bring it for short flights or only a few hours long, has to be 8 hours or longer.
Hi Laurie. Love your videos. I’m a first time flyer. Was always afraid to fly but I’m finally going to get on a plane. Thanks to your videos I know what to do and what to expect. But I have one question. I’m planning to put my jewelry that I wear in my bag until I go through TSA. Do I do the same with my Apple Watch or do I put it in the tray with my cell phone. Thank you. Enjoy your summer.
Hi and good for you!!! I only have to take off my watch in Mexico for some reason. They point to me and say to take it off. And they do not want to see the cell phone. Put that in an easily accessible pocket for the line.
Your recommendation the Travelon theft-proof gear was spot on. We got a cross body bag for my wife and a fannypack for me. The Blondo boots, on the other hand, totally sucked. They're very tight in overall width and the all important toe box. I found them to be way overpriced for their quality.
and I find this photo of your family in car so precious - your son finding it so awkward of parents making videos an putting on social media hiding his face 😀it is so natural 🙃
Just curious…why cant I wear my money belt before security? I usually always do. I never had a problem but want to be prepared for my next flight to Italy in Oct. Absolutely Love your videos and you are so sweet! Thank you .
I ditch the foam of my pillowcase and stuff it with some of my clothes before leaving home, then after I get to the hotel I rearrange those clothes in the packing cube for easier access. Saves a lot of space and it's just as comfy as the neck pillow itself. Also bring an eye mask and ear plugs. I've had someone snoring loudly next to me and it's just as annoying as a wailing baby.
Totally off topic, but I have a silly question. If you check your bags, what info do you put on the bag tags? I’ll be on a cruise so I don’t think my home address should be used. Would my cell # suffice?
I have a dilemma. I want to pack lightly just a carryon and my crossbody bag for day time touring. However, my carryon will stay in hotel while I’m out and about. The only bags I have are overhead type luggage that’ll lock while I’m away. 😫 What do you suggest I do? Edited: My carryon security with locks are of standard size but I wanted smaller but those bags don’t lock.
Hi, we did a Christmas Market tour from Brussels to surrounding cities and would leave around 4 each day. Loved that! I have done a waffle making class, a chocolate making one and a quick history tour of Brussels too.
I wear a cape…. It is what you would consider bulky. But I have used it for years. It is also a blanket. I have a couple of them one is thin. The other one is all wool and lined. Deciding is sometimes difficult. Where I am going, time of year, and most of all I consider whether I’ll need it on the plane for a blanket or a pillow for that matter. I would say at this point I use the light because it can roll up into a smaller bundle. It’s usually enough when I’m in the plane just a little extra warmth is nice. Being autistic I really need is my cat or my dog laying on me…. Not an option😊

Whew! Day saved.
I took your advice a year ago and got the cover for the tray table. It is awesome because I do not need to use the seat pocket in front of me and I avoid germs and the possibility of leaving something on the plane.
I love mine!
Yes, I wasn't worried about germs so I did not think I would need it. But it's so helpful with the deep pockets and how close it is.
Thanks, Laurie for all your great tips. I got the tray table cover after you first suggested it and get lots of questions about it. The best feature is drinks stay put and don’t spill on it. Appreciate the suggestion. 😊
@@TravelTipsbyLaurieHow do yall clean it (at hotel etc) before return trip ??? It would be grubby after 1st use?? No ????
@@Linzi1947 no
Lori.. the last 3 + years I have bought many of the items you have suggested for my trips. I love the tray cover with pockets. Everyone should have them. Game charger. 😊
Great idea!!
This is super timely. Have my first long haul flight in 2 weeks. 13 hours from UK to Malaysia! But I'm feeling prepared. Thanks Laurie 😊
Oh, it will be beautiful!
Agree. If it's dark in the plane do another activity! I have purchased a great black out eye mask and that has been a life saver.
My friend wore their merino wool t-shirts in Tulum and she said it was great! I got to touch it and it feels like a smooth t-shirt.
These are great reminders for our upcoming long-haul (LAX - LHR) flight. We'll be sleeping most of the all-nighter flight (business class) to be ready to go once we touch down at Heathrow. (Wife of a DFW pilot)
Have an absolute blast! Cheerio!
Those are great ideas! Glad the trip was great
Great information, thanks.
Eeek thanks! Taking my mom to Lake Louise soon. Will send air hugs to you.
The little compression ‘pillow’ bag also works for those with back pain. I place it between my lower back and the chair. 😊 I’m in my 40’s from Connecticut and I’ve been watching you for a little over two years. This is my first comment but I just want to say that I love you ❤
Thanks so much!! Oh yes I did workouts with a lady for almost 10 years before even subscribing lol.
I hope he has such a marvelous trip!!!
Detergent sheets weigh nothing and you can tear off small pieces if you are washing a few things in a sink or zip lock bag. No liquid mess either. They are all I use at home or away.
The cabeaux helped me sleep for the first time on a red eye. Best night’s sleep I’ve ever had on a flight. Thank you so much.
I love mine. I left my neck pillow at home and the only pillow available was cabeaux AND it rolls up,into a little ball for packing. ❤❤❤
Great to hear!
It's a perfect roll!
Nanna Wanda
It really does. We do not need alot. But it's fun to buy lol. Taking my mom to Lake Louise soon.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie lucky lady ! Have fun. So beautiful there~
I know you say that the Cabeaux neck pillow is for tall necks only, but I have a short neck and a short torso and love it.
So much fun!!! When you know what is essential to pack, it's a non-negotiable.
Thanks! Will show that sweater in a gift idea video soon.
Your videos are invaluable. I am a seasoned traveler but your videos have enhanced my experience traveling. Thank you.
Great to hear!
Love your content ! Personally I would suggest the Anker MagSafe 10000mah battery packs. They work as a. 2 in 1 charger and phone prop.
Bought a new neck pillow hoping that helps with a long flight. The compression cube is a good suggestion too
I have a reusable grocery tote from Amazon comes in a tiny 2x3 bag. I use it a lot in Hawaii grocery shopping but you can use it for your jacket to use as a pillow. I am normally warm in plane but always have a light jacket for travel m.
Smart!
Thanks for the tips. I gave up on a neck pillow long ago after I left it on the plane once. I try to minimize what I bring so it was one less thing to carry. We did get the foldie for propping up the phone and it works great. Got an AirFly and looking forward to trying that on next trip.
Oh how awful! Glad you found what helps inflight.
Always great tips, Laurie! I flying my first solo int’l trip in the fall and you mentioned a few things I hadn’t thought about. Thx!
12:03 I bought some as well super handy especially for stains I also bought similar packs but for plastic toilet seat covers
I have discovered the perfect neck pillow: Notnodi. It’s a new product designed by a nurse in Australia and is pure genius.
I'm hoping to get a sample from them. Thank you!!!
Thanks for sharing!
Always love your travel tips and, it’s off topic, but totally love your hair cut!
You're the best!
This is off topic but I'd love to see your hair routine. I love your hair and it's so cute . How do you style it and what products you use. You are the best 💕
You know I have a video for that: bit.ly/LooseCurlTutorial
I love me a good scarf. I have a long flight coming up.
I want a flouncy one just for Houston winters.
have I mentioned that I am thrilled with the Travelpro luggage you recommended? I know I mentioned I prefer the two wheel luggage over the spinners. I use straps to train them together, and I was able to wheel a hundred pounds of luggage through the airport with one finger. (hopefully we'll be lighter for the long haul flight - I won't have to bring tools)
also, again, the Bogush medicine cooler is great for insulin pens. the TSA may need to hand check it, but she said, "I just ordered one of these"
I am thrilled to know these worked for y'all!
Hi Laurie, What traveling hacks do you have for first time flying travelers? For example luggage, clothing;etc. Personally I absolutely adore medium/small luggage. Your input please. Love your videos.
Hi they would be the same. Carryon and layers are so helpful.
Hi Laurie, fun and knowledgeable to watch you. I'm going on a Cruise to Caribbean 2 days after Thanksgiving this year
Have a beautiful trip!
Going to London soon. Your tips are what are keeping me sane 😅
You can do it. And yes you will make mistakes so just roll with it.
Cashmere is lovely but fine merino is pretty good too, and more affordable generally
Ooh really? I just looked at some but it was in Canada. Love the ones from Nordstrom for winter sweaters because they do not itch.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I'm in Australia so that may make the difference. Also, the fine merino is supposed to be not itchy
Great video, Laurie! Saved to my travel advice play list. Thanks once again!
I will pull my backpack that is under the seat in front of me as a stool to change my leg angles. It's always stuffed, so it is solid enough.
I do that even in roadtrips hahaha
That does help!
@@mariakern6793 Ooh okay. Maybe a loafer? Blondo has some waterproof ones too. Maybe SAS has modernized their shoes too.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie yes, thank you, loafer also good idea. I had also always for colder times, they are classics, timeless ))
Thanks!
Karen!!! Thank you so much! Just watching my videos supports me. You are so kind.
Thank you 😊😊😊
I love that you know this about yourself! And you are on the hunt to keep going. Where to next?
I fold my clean clothes and roll my dirty clothes.
Oh, those are great tips! I get asked.
Great advice! Thank you!
I have a few favorite hacks:
I'm taking my TRIPPEDTRAVELGEAR cubes and using one for a pillow for my back for my retreat filled with a thin throw😊 You have such great tips!!!❤❤😊
No way! That is a travel hack!! I want @trippedtravelgear to see this. Don't know if I am tagging them.
Just got to say that I’m going to streamline my in flight essentials for long haul trips. Comb, chapstick, essential meds for the flight, maybe nasal spray, toothpicks. So many trips I hauled around and did not use eyedrops, and whatnot, that stuff I haven’t used.
Experience helps you eliminate items doesn't it.
My favorite long flight item is my eye mask that connects to the headrest. It holds my head up, covers my eyes and lets me sleep peacefully.
I almost mentioned that! Loved it
Sounds great. Can you share the brand name?
How does anyone even maneuver all this? The last flight the seats were so close... Got out my phone and that was it.
Thank you much ❤
Thank you Laurie for always sharing such great tips! You are a good steward for helping us! God Bless you and your family!
You are so welcome!
Yes they would be worth the investment. The tablets though are toothpaste so you do have to brush. But don’t swallow.
I can't wear ear buds ( don't stay in), so I have hook-over-the-ear style. Work great!
Perfect!
Yesss! The trays are usually wiped, but that's it. They don't clean the rest.
Oh you totally can-but for a long flight, I just would wait until I land.
EEEK Greece?! Wonderful. All links are in the first comment and in the paragraph below the video.
Amazon sells an adapter to join a jack to either a lightning or usb-c
Love all your tips! Where did you find the narrow playing cards? Thanks.
Yes, I love that charger! I got the purple one 💜
Laurie I’m really enjoying your travel tips. What do you recommend for compression travel cubes?
These I have had for over 5 years; top quality and a set of 7: amzn.to/3Y4JuTK
Thanks Jane! Yes the size of the trtl intrigued me.
I have a marino wool hoodie from aviator, and the hood doubles as an eye sleep maak.
That sounds wonderful! I think Tripped Travel Gear uses that.
For a long haul flight I need a neck pillow but only the one that is taller that holds my head up. It comes up past my jaw and there is no comparison with those blowup or short ones that help give you a crook in your neck. I don’t bring it for short flights or only a few hours long, has to be 8 hours or longer.
I agree. Is yours the same one as mine?
The trtl is great. It keeps your head from falling forward and it’s less bulky than a neck pillow to carry
I hate that thing. It just about broke my neck.
The size seemed great!
Your recommendation the Travelon theft-proof gear was spot on. We got a cross body bag for my wife and a fannypack for me. The Blondo boots, on the other hand, totally sucked. They're very tight in overall width and the all important toe box. I found them to be way overpriced for their quality.
I hope you returned what you do not love. If you don't love something, it's not worth $1.
Hi, Laurie❤️!!! Thank You❤️!
Hi!

@@TravelTipsbyLaurie yes! 16 hours ✈️
Just curious…why cant I wear my money belt before security? I usually always do. I never had a problem but want to be prepared for my next flight to Italy in Oct. Absolutely Love your videos and you are so sweet! Thank you .
Hi, maybe it is because the machine can see enough of that item at your airport but maybe not at other ones?
The newer scanners are flagging dense areas on your body. I've had a belt with a plastic buckle and also a money belt set off the "alarm".
Dear Laurie, it is not any mistakes! It is precious life experience and we all profit from it that you share with us!
Great tip!
Lol, the beach ball. Just stand up and walk around 😂 I have never heard of the balls before, that's too funny.
Can you imagine!?
Totally off topic, but I have a silly question. If you check your bags, what info do you put on the bag tags? I’ll be on a cruise so I don’t think my home address should be used. Would my cell # suffice?
Hi, I put my junk email and not my last name on a tag or somewhere in the bag or a label maker sticker on something.
@@TravelTipsbyLaurie great idea! Thank you so much 😊
I have a dilemma. I want to pack lightly just a carryon and my crossbody bag for day time touring. However, my carryon will stay in hotel while I’m out and about. The only bags I have are overhead type luggage that’ll lock while I’m away. 😫
What do you suggest I do?
Edited: My carryon security with locks are of standard size but I wanted smaller but those bags don’t lock.
I don’t know. We’ve never locked out luggage.
This is great information. Thank you so much!

Flying standby would stress me out so much. How do you make a reservation at a hotel When you don't know if you'll actually arrive.
We do it seldomly now since so many are on airplanes. But we get a refundable hotel. Sometimes we will "pay later" on rental cars.
Hi Laurie, I believe you've recently visited Belgium. Just wondering if you could share your trip details, where you went too, etc.

Laurie, do the individually wrapped travel wipes have to count as a liquid? What about packs of 7-9 wipes>
Hi, they do not woohoo!
Great content! Thanks Laurie 🥰

Yes, if it works for you and does not stress you or make you uncomfortable in your seat, wear it.
Great tips. Thank you
You bet!
Lots of great tips💜💜
