fallout: desert, lifeless wastes, caves filled with monsters metro: nuclear winter, frozen over surface, metro tunnels STALKER: overgrown nature, abandoned buildings, old facilities overrun with mutants funny how each apocalyptic game has their own theme of sorts
Honestly each one these perspectives on an apocalyptic wasteland are well crafted in each of their own rights. Hats off to the original creators of each franchise.
Well, stalker depicts a restricted area after a reactor meltdown, which is a localized event and would not bring a nuclear winter with it. Metro plays directly after a global nuclear holocaust and thus features a fresh nuclear winter. Fallout 4 takes place 200 years after the nuclear winter set in. Scientific models predict that a nuclear winter following a worldwide nuclear holocaust would drop the temperatures just at about freezing for about 10 years before the climate would normalize again. So I'd say each game depicts their specific version of a nuclear aftermath quite well.
I think the biggest difference between them is small things like artifacts and anomalies in stalker, the Pip-boy, level progression and VATS in Fallout, and the linear metros and story in Metro. If it weren’t for all of this, with a bit of rebranding and changing the lore, they could all be believable continuations of their respective franchises, just in different settings. Metro could be Fallout right after the war, like Frost is, STALKER could be Fallout in rural Russia, Ukraine or Belarus.
Thanks for featuring my mods! You did a great job of showcasing some of the features that many users don't realize are available. I might have to pin this somewhere as a tutorial to my mods and guide to a Fallout 4 winter overhaul.
Kinda feels like Diamond City is going to be a bit of a problem with this overhaul. I mean it's all great and super immersive, having the surface be so hostile and uninhabitable, until the main questline takes you to an open air baseball park where people are living in shacks made from wood and corrugated metal, and eating at the local noodle stand. Same with Goodneighbor, to a lesser extent.
@@assassinzakral7023 This is amazing, I don't know how I never found this before. It always bugged me in Fallout how it seemed people were incapable of making repairs. Rather than fix a damaged building or, hell forbid, board up broken windows the people of the wasteland seem intent on constructing endless sheet metal huts that are no better. This is going into my *essentials*
The nuclear winter would've passed on by the events of Fallout 4 tho. After nuclear winter there is a sort of nuclear bloom which is why we see the Commonwealth in the game as warm and thriving
Going back to watch your older vids and working my way up. It helps me get the initiative to jump back into my modded game that I've kinda forgotten what to do. 😂
The funny part about all these mods is that if I'm correct a majority of them except for Frost are actually available for Xbox users as well so looks like I might have to redo my mod menu cuz I kind of missed the last time I played with a whole winter environment
So I just bought fallout 4 thru Xbox on my pc and can’t find frost and I’m super upset because now I have to buy it on idk what to play it right..? How do I get all these?
Honestly, even though it’s less known, I feel like Metro is the highest quality game set in a nuclear apocalypse. With fallout new vegas being the highest complexity one and I can’t figure out what stalker is but I like it. Also i like Metro. The books. I actually knew the books first.
while fallout 4 vanilla is enjoyable, i really didn't feel like it was taking place after a nuke went off right next to the city, mods definitely help make it more of a fallout game and im glad they came to console too.
That nuke detonate 200 years ago, it's normal that a lot has change, nature has healed and people have rebuilt since then. I mean just look at Nagasaki and Hiroshima today, or even Chernobyl
I mean its technically realistic with that aspect, since a Nuke gives its energy off so quick the radiation dies down quite a bit because its let out so fast, so 150 years would make sure it's clean on the surface and fallout is 200y, 4 years for the oceans to cleanse themselves pure since there's no more people, nature would heal like the man above mentioned pretty fast if not faster in some areas and ceatures would be mutated but most likely die fast or be steral maybe even the opposite and they breed fast and live long we don't really know that one yet lol and hopefully never will, but yeah that's how'd it be.
Thinking of downloading this game again this video made it seem like it would be more funner to redo the whole story again for the 40th time but this time with some mods and with the hard mode on :)
DAMN APOCALYPSE would be good along with these mods, basically make items scarce in containers that Aren’t locked and also gives a new level of detail to power armor and makes that scarce, making it even more immersive
Noice. Theres one mod i want was whenever you got hit by a ballistic type bullet theres a small chance for your drinkables and chems to break into components like glass and metal
Nice to see someone use most of the same mod set ups, especially subway runner. I sometimes swap my winter overhauls for green or autumn overgrowth and run 50 Shades of Rust, Zombie Walkers + Clickerfied Ghouls alongside GMOW for a TLoU experience. Hopefully the Sewers mod is on xbox or a port is made. Id also highly recommend lucky lockes lucky you (think thats how its spelled) that lets you shoot / kick / blow open doors and lordofwars the rebel outfit for cold weather outfits.
Great video! Definitely not expecting the quality with that sub count, you deserve far more! One question, what is that backpack mod right after the intro with the piolets? Does it come with the Krueger pack?
Honestly enjoying this modlist. Fair warning (granted it could be because one of the other mods I am using in conjunction with this list) but there is a bit of a difficulty adjustment to this. Survival players you have been warned.
Thanks for sharing always looking for ways to change my game around. A couple cool mods I've used are "Darker Nights" and "Digital Nightmare - Music Overhaul Mod"
2:00 Not to mention that the nuclear weapons that were used on America were quite literally just giant dirty bomb versions of your average nuke. Talk about fucking overkill.
Fun fact for those who didn't know: nuclear fallouts/winters are actually ash from the nuclear well, nuclear fallouts. If you ingest it even by accident, you'll have a very painful end.
When the Metro Devs didn't make Metro Exodus into a full Open World RPG as they had thought of, many years ago. Fallout modders: Fine, I'll do it myself.
I never did play the OG fallouts, but I really enjoyed the landscape for new vegas! It was great for sniping since there wasn't many obstacles or hills in the way. I may have to try out the old fallouts though, I've only heard good things about them.
Frost is a great idea but it’s just not for me in its current state. There are some really great quest mods like Tales from the Commonwealth, Valkyrie, Outcasts and Remnants with excellent voice acting that even recombine your characters’ voice lines in a minimalistic albeit pretty smooth way. I wish Frost did the same and added traditional quests instead of very awkwardly cutting together pre-existing lines for NPCs. Then you could literally turn fallout into a different game. But I guess that would be too big of an undertaking. So right now I’m trying to see how the winter ambiance mods mix with the quest mods, because after 3 playthroughs I feel like Metro Exodus can’t really show me anything new or different, even if the ambiance is just awesome.
Yeah I was debating weather I should get dark souls 3 or fallout 4 and uh this ad popped up and uh 😳 I stared at it bout 3 secs like is this real. now I'm like 😶
I love all this stuff save for one, I personally prefer Horizon for my "Hardcore fallout 4 survival experience" but Frost is not compatible with it sadly
There’s tablets that you can put in your canteen to keep the water from freezing. I think they’re high alcohol tablets. Because I’m 90% sure that alcohol doesn’t freeze very well.

I really like the concept of playing fallout 4 like this, its my current mod list, I just wish I had more mod space. Damn you bethesda!
This made me want a game set hours after the nukes hit and how people who didn’t get access to a vault survived
Literally the Frost mod for fallout 4
