Great to see the nuts and bolts of construction Dave. Lovely seeing the finished thing which is amazing but nice to see methods employed by others to do things. Also someone who is so concise in explaining why you do what you are doing.
Utterly superb crafting. Have you video’d your ballasting in the past? Yours looks just like I plan on doing mine. I’ve got a 10ftx5ft layout being built and full of complex track and sidings and loads of ballasting to do
Hythe Kent thank you so much. I really get a buzz out of people enjoying my work. Yeah I’ve done ballasting, balls sting a point video, weathering track videos etc. Just type in dean park and then the topic to the search and you’ll find them. :-) Dave
Nice end to a night after a busy day of work watching one of Dave’s Layout Update Videos. I particularly like the B-Roll in between! Just wished he did more!
DaveClass47 B-Roll is the bit I think you call the “Running Shots”. I just love seeing the effort put into the weathering of the locos, and because it’s usually a still camera, you can really take in how detailed the scenery is and how much time has been put into the layout to make it so realistic!
Lots of time and not much to show. You are right about how long those walls and backscenes take to do but well wort the effort in the end. The Hornby test livery looks very good to me I got those vehicles and although not fully accurate they make a good looking train. The test car was used with freight vehicles when testing ride and braking. The van they had was used as a comparison vehicle for pitch and roll testing. I am wondering what you will come up with for the new industrial area Looking forward to finding out
Another great update Dave, and love the little running session interludes. I'll have to check out your video on the rust technique because the bridge girder effect you've created looks absolutely fantastic. Also looking forward to the possibility of more videos as you descend into autumn/winter, though you probably don't relish the thought of winter.
Station Road Model Railway hi cheers. Glad you like how my videos are presented with the running shots, helps break things up I find. Wake you up too lol. I love autumn..not winter so much lol
Still my favorite you tube layout and the scratch building is unique to Dean Park and will look fantastic when finished. Might have a go myself. Keep up the great work pal.
Och Aye tha now Dave! Great update pal, your home made retaining walls have inspired me to make my own tunnel mouth which will be for the road leading into my industrial area where the sidings are. Cheers man!👍
Hi Dave forgot to ask will you attempt a class 27 push pull set I know it’s not quite your era but I’ve not seen anyone do this class 27 each end with Mk2 s in the middle would look superb ,all the best ,Mark
East Coast payout, the SPTE DMUs were allowed out to Edinburgh but the buses would have never have escaped Glasgow. I've noticed the Lothian Regional bus livery (based on old Edinburgh Corporation) on the layout too, reinforcing the location in the Edinburgh area.
gs425 hi, it’s in the video... click link top right which appears when I show you the girder on this video, should take you to it. Or at the end of the video. Alternatively type in Dean Park Rust to the search.
Nice little update, good to see progress on other sections of the layout. Rust 😍 got to love humbrol powders. Those spans always look better dripping in rust lol. Food for thought if you're ever doing chipping effects in the future, have you considered trying a chipping medium? Great for layering up and chipping back through to reveal rust spots, you can easily simulate many layers of paint thats failing and peeling away. I notice you use alot of 2mm (i think) mdf. Where do you get this from in this thickness?
Cheers. Yeah I’ve got chipping medium but never used it. I’ll have a play around with it on some scraps :-) I get my mdf online...homecrafts etc. I get it in 1000x600mm sheets. 2 and 4mm. Cheers. Dave
Great Layout update Dave.. question, what is the height and length of the scratch build retaining walls. I'm looking to go the same thing on a curve section of my layout..
New Boscastle cheers. Yes and no. Code 100 is far more robust, especially when you have the range of temperatures up a loft. Once weathered up code 100 is fine. Code 75, of course is finer but it has its drawbacks. So I can’t say definitively what I would use if I started again. Maybe make a code 87.5?... a half way compromise? 😆 cheers. Dave
Your closeup panning shots are quite effective. Have you tried putting a camera on a wagon running on a parallel track, or do the resulting shots have too much vibration?
Hey Dave, another great video as always - I'm getting back into the hobby and trying my hand at electrics for the first time. I always wanted to do motorised points as a kid in the 80s. I have a quick question, I've watched about 70% of all your videos in the past few weeks and will keep going until I get them all. Is there any chance you have a list of your preferred suppliers for different materials handy and would be willing to share? I'm quite happy to go back through all the videos and jot them down as you say them, but just though you may have a handy list somewhere first :) Thanks Dave, always look forward to your vids!
DaveClass47 hi Dave, thanks for the reply, I’ve watched all ur videos by now! I don’t want to put you to any trouble, just if you happen to keep a list of your suppliers for electrics, paints, card and plasticard, scenics and weathering that kind of thing and it was easy for you to email it on it’d save me some time going back over all your videos ;) if you don’t have something quick and simple for you, then it’s not prob!
What’s needed leaving the station is a nice class 303/315/318 or a 320 in orange and black if someone would produce these units I got a 156 and 101 and some buses in Strathclyde PTE livery one of the best of the PTEs in livery style layout is going from better to superb Dave ,be safe mate ,Mark 👍🏻😊
That’s true ,I got the DVD about the Glasgow subway before and after its rebuild in the late 70s looks so good in orange and tidy too,,models of Lothian buses are harder to find I have a National and an Olympian plus the airport express double decker northcord done
Speed, Dave, is not a word I would use for model railways at all. In fact speed is in my opinion pointless. The essential elements are detail and care of construction. I am learning this very rapidly, as I am now plagued with the dreaded arthritis in my hands and legs, everything takes twice as long. However this has lead me to being much slower and more accurate in the things I do. I would loved a video every day from you, but I really don't mind if I only see one once a quarter....it is the content that is important. As always another great video, and I really do like the presentation of dividing it into sections. Stay safe and healthy. Cheers, Bob
Hi Dave another great video mate I love the bba wagons I missed out on the first run of bba wagons i hope they do a new run of them soon they would look great with coiles on them and two class86 or 87 electric locomotives pulling them dave stay safe and well mate goodbye for now clive
Total quality throughout Dave, both the self built and the ready to run wagons, absolutely amazing....Bob
Very enjoyable update Dave. Those wagon loads look very good. I do like how you do your retaining walls and pillars. Thanks for sharing cheers Andy
Once again an excellent watch. You certainly do set the benchmark.
Iron knob Steelworks cheers. I do try to be up there when it comes to quality and detail. :-)
Awesome update Dave!! Great work too. I like the BBA wagon loads very much. Thanks for sharing this video. Cheers Onno.
Great to see the nuts and bolts of construction Dave. Lovely seeing the finished thing which is amazing but nice to see methods employed by others to do things. Also someone who is so concise in explaining why you do what you are doing.
Geoff Unsworth cheers Geoff. :-) Dave
Impressive as always Dave. I am tempted by the Derby coach. I drive by the works and see all sorts of part-built stuff.
Utterly superb crafting. Have you video’d your ballasting in the past? Yours looks just like I plan on doing mine. I’ve got a 10ftx5ft layout being built and full of complex track and sidings and loads of ballasting to do

Nice update dave the retaining walls look great the tunnel portal look great the new wagons and coaches are nice as well keep up the great work pal.
Excellent video new rolling stock looks amazing thankyou
Mark Littlejohn cheers. Dave
Hi Dave. Absolutely fantastic update 👍🏻
Nice end to a night after a busy day of work watching one of Dave’s Layout Update Videos. I particularly like the B-Roll in between! Just wished he did more!

Chris Seed cheers Chris. I appreciate that really kind feedback. ‘Finished’...lol, do we ever finish? Cheers. Dave
Wow, those accurascale wagons are amazing!
Excellent detail as usual Dave, thanks.
outstanding modelling Dave..👊

That’s ‘Braw’ lol. I do enjoy making my layout unique by scratch building the walls and some structures. Cheers. Dave
Another great video Dave. Thks for sharing.
Thanks again Dave.....
Great update Dave the layout is looking great
Words fail me, brilliant 👍
Cheers. :-) Dave
nice update and great layout
Dafydd Thomas thanks.
Great update ! 😃👍

1968Concorde hi, not tried it! But might have a go at some point :-)
Superb Dave 👍🏻
Have you pre-ordered the new Cavalex MGR hoppers? They are planning some blue framed Scottish ones I understand!! (just for you Dave!)
Love the Strathclyde Transport train on the layout. Have you considered any Strathclydes Buses on there in the same orange and black liveries?
Yeah it’s a great livery. I’d prefer more Lothian buses! But they are rare to non existent. :-(
East Coast payout, the SPTE DMUs were allowed out to Edinburgh but the buses would have never have escaped Glasgow. I've noticed the Lothian Regional bus livery (based on old Edinburgh Corporation) on the layout too, reinforcing the location in the Edinburgh area.
Very nice dave !
Hi Dave. Can you link to the rust technique you used on that fantastic girder? Many thanks Gary
gs425 hi, it’s in the video... click link top right which appears when I show you the girder on this video, should take you to it. Or at the end of the video. Alternatively type in Dean Park Rust to the search.
@@DeanPark aha. It comes up just after in the sequence about the support pillars. Thanks Dave

Great Layout update Dave.. question, what is the height and length of the scratch build retaining walls. I'm looking to go the same thing on a curve section of my layout..
John A. Dawson hi, cheers. They are 113mm high. Length... as required, I’d have to measure the section I’m doing right now.
Hi Dave. The layout is looking great. Always wondered however, if you had your time again would you use code 75 track?
New Boscastle cheers. Yes and no. Code 100 is far more robust, especially when you have the range of temperatures up a loft. Once weathered up code 100 is fine. Code 75, of course is finer but it has its drawbacks.

Dave, the ic swallow trains, once the push pull ops started, did they still do services with out dvts ?
Johnson Street IEMD yes. I have footage of the west coast with 86,87’s on passenger services with no Dvt.
Accurascale do some awesome stuff I can’t wait for there Locos
I really wanted some of their castle Cement wagons but missed out sadly :(
They are my favourite wagon. Stunning.

Dave 1 question how old is this layout
It was started in late 2012.
@@DeanPark will you be adding the wires to the overhead line equipment?
First! Cheers from Canada.
