It's well known that the "singing center" (it's called differently) is located in a different part of the brain than the part that controls speech. That's why you have asian people (who to me sound like they are always chewing gum) singing perfect english while unable to speak it.

No offence to Idina Medizel (or however its spelled) but i found it better then the "original" considering this was sung at a mall and prob recorded with none studio grade equipment. She just made the song sound easy, while Idina semes to strain her voice doing it.

The reason there are so many great singers is because... there are so many millions and millions of Filipinos that love to sing Karaoke. America, which has three times the population, probably doesn't have 1/10 as many people singing Karaoke as the Philippines does. With that many singing the cream that rises to the top is amazing. But to me the courage to sing in public in mall.... that is something blows me away.

When I was a child, I asked my late father that I wanted to join any singing competition and hopefully become a singer. Sadly, it never happened due to financial difficulties that he Could not afford to support me. I understood him. Now I am 45 years old and working overseas as an OFW. But I am glad that I am still singing on stage in the foreign land here in Papua New Guinea and never had the opportunity in my land in the Philippines. Kahit hindi man nangyari pero pa tuloy pa rin ako kumakanta at nag inspire sa mga tao na showcase their talents in any platform. Daghang Salamat sa Tanan ug tinuod jud na ang mga pinoy mahilig jud mukanta ba.
lets take a moment to appreciate that there was absolutely no preparation for this impropmtu karaoke session. she's literally wearing a top, jeans and sandals, unaware that she would attract the cameras of so many people. i doubt she warmed her voice up before this as well!!! she's in a MALL not even a real studio - imagine how amazing she would sound with professional equipment! filipinos stay winning hahaha

I agree she's amazing. I'm so shocked (in a pleasant way) to hear such a voice coming from such a small person like her and I mean that in a good way. I'm very impressed. If I close my eyes, she sounds like a real professional singer with years of experience behind her. So polished. With that kind of voice, she could easily lend it to musical animations. And with a little make-over and some acting workshops, she could audition for Broadway musicals. Galing nya! Thanks for sharing this video and her talent to youtubers like me.
