My guess was 31. B×d4 threatening 32. R×c5+ with 2 variations:
A) 31. ..., Q×d4; 32. Qb7+, K×a5; 33. Ra1++
B) 31. ..., c×d4; 32. Qh5+, Bg5; 33. f×g5, R×c2; 34. g6+
*But nothing like 31. Bc7!!*

I did a double-take over 31. Bc7. It threatened two distinct mates: 32. Qb7# or 32. Rxc5# There is no way of stopping both (31...Qc6 only prolongs the agony). But seeing that was an extraordinary exercise of vision.
