I will FOREVER be upset about Caroline's wedding. Not because I hated the Steroline arc either. No, because this was her wedding. HER dream wedding that she's planned since she was a little girl. And she's getting married to her "true love"
But her wedding wasn't for her. It was a trap to save Elena. Caroline's best friend and the girl Stefan's been in love with for years. Who he was destined to fall in love with over and over again.
She deserved to have her wedding be for herself. Not a trap.

Klaus/Caroline makes absolutely no sense, it came out of nowhere and the way they undermined Tyler with it will forever annoy me. It also made Klaus seem kind of pathetic and less frightening. People were mad with Tyler's reaction simply because they needed someone to self insert their imaginary romance with Klaus into (Caroline). I think this was another way to also stick it to Kat Graham whose character would've made more sense to be involved with an Original, bc of her relevance in the story. It becomes clear that both Elena and Caroline are characters Dries/Plec live vicariously through and that's also ironically why those characters suffer.

I really rooted for Klaus & Tyler in season 2. They were written incredibly well and Tyler was a huge upgrade from boring bland Matt, who didn’t care much for Caroline. But Klaus & Caroline did have an intense chemistry. I don’t know if the writers ever intended to explore that, or not but they really messed up with it cause they ruined 2 relationships and half assed the rebound with Stefan.
I'd wish for Caroline to end the show on her own and travel the world. As much as I loved her tension and the spark with Klaus, I really think it would have been so freeing for her as a character to leave everything and everyone behind and enjoy herself, at least for some time.

I definitely noticed Caroline tended to choose Elena’s ex’s a lot maybe because she wanted the validation and attention Elena always got, but out of all the guys she dated, I definitely feel like she loved Tyler more and they really should’ve been endgame. He wasn’t Elena’s ex, he was fresh, he was new, their connection was the most genuine.
Yes! He was the only one with whom she genuinely developed a connection, we saw them go from ignoring each other to really bring there for each other
I love Klaus and Caroline together!! Stephen and Caroline had a great friendship. Them together were okay but love their friendship. I also really liked her with Tyler too
I believe Caroline and Klaus's scene in the woods was during the 100th episode of the show, so they brought him back to mark the occasion because he's such an iconic character. The characters and actors were pretty solidly separated by the individual commitments to TVD vs The Originals at that point, so the ship realistically couldn't happen, but it was such a huge ship that the acknowledgment of that potential (even as Caroline's saying "this will only happen if you NEVER come back" re: the divide between shows while still allowing this moment to play out), was exciting.
Definitely giving Candice King her flowers cos she managed to make herself have chemistry with every single one of her love interests in da show. 👏🏾💐
Klaus and Caroline were amazing together. My OTP. Caroline was always honest with Klaus and believed in his potential to be a good person. While Caroline was always Klaus first choice. He dropped all of his plans, vendettas and revenge for her. He believed and trusted her without hesitation.

I'll forever be a Tyler lockwood defender. He treated Caroline great but fans got more interested with her being with Klaus instead so they ruined the relationship. I don't blame him for wanting to get revenge on klaus considering he killed his mom who was his last relative. Tyler had every right to be pissed at Caroline for sleeping with the guy who killed his mom. Tyler never slut shamed her. He told her to leave but she didn't and he was controlling his anger but Stefan came in to play hero for no reason and punched him! Then he had the audacity to chastise Tyler for reacting like a normal person finding out their ex slept with his former master/ mom murderer.
Tyler, in my opinion, chose Caroline first because being chosen first is solely determined by men choosing Elena over her. Tyler had no romantic interest in Elena; therefore, he chose Caroline first.
I agree that her best relationship was with Tyler. I believe that, in addition to Klaus ruining their time together, Caroline also harmed the relationship at times. Tyler did leave a lot, but the majority, if not all, of the time for good reasons. Caroline entertained Klaus too much, especially when he treated Tyler as if he were his slave master. Caroline also chose the MFG over Tyler and his feelings. For example, one of his pack mates, Chris, was murdered as a result of the MFG's change of plans, and he was sacrificed. No one, not even Caroline, considered how Tyler would feel because they didn't know the hybrid that was murdered, so they didn't care. Regardless, their relationship is still one of the best written on the show and this was the best relationship that Caroline had.
Caroline and Stefan's problem stemmed from how they got together, as well as the high level of drama that persisted throughout their relationship, which didn't allow for them to develop any sexual chemistry. At least that's my perception of it. Stefan should have wanted Caroline on his own, without Damon, Alaric, Enzo, or Caroline herself essentially forcing and convincing him to want her. Stefan didn't owe Caroline a relationship, and Caroline felt entitled to one, which harmed the development of their relationship. So, while I wouldn't call them boring, their buildup and relationship weren't written properly, but I believe they had the potential.
Other than that, I agree with your assessment of the rest of her relationships, particularly the revelation you made about her relationship with Klaus near the end. They physically looked great together, but there wasn't any substance, and Klaus was more infatuated with the chase and obsessed with Caroline than in love.
I love Bonenzo with all my heart (they're both my favourite characters) but I think Caroline and Enzo would've worked great, he was the perfect blend of Klaus's badboyness and spice and Stefan's romantic calm side (as seen with Bonnie), plus their interactions were iconic
Totally agree with everything you said! You've got to watch The Originals now! I prefer it to TVD; the dynamics are richer and more mature. I also loved a lot of the relationships in it, as they were adults not teenagers. There's also a lot more cool witch stuff :D
After watching The Originals and seeing how Klaus/Cami were vs Klaus/Caroline, it totally put me off of Caroline and Klaus. Cami unlike Caroline always strove for Klaus to be a better person not just for her but for his daughter. Caroline saw the bad he did and always had a wall up because of it. Klaus and Caroline felt like a teenage "we shouldn't but I want to", while Klaus and Cami feels like a mature actual development of a relationship that doesn't come off nearly as creepy as Klaroline. Caroline and Tyler were def her best relationship and I wish the writers had tried to keep them together the because both Caroline and Tyler's relationships after each other fell flat for me.

TVD/TO had to end with Caroline showing up at Klaus's door like a hundred years later and i will die on that hill
I like all of Caroline’s love interests (unless there’s some I don’t remember) except for Stephen. But not because I don’t like him, I just like him more with Elena.
But a major problem with her love interests is that after the first season they’re together, they all become either boring or unimportant to her or the main plot. Matt’s unimportant, Tyler’s unimportant disguised as important, Klaus leaves… she deserved better, to be honest
I feel like for a majority of her love interests, she's kinda treated like crap. Watching it back, Matt and Caroline were on and off and Matt was so hot and cold with her. One minute he didn't want a relationship, the next he's cold to her cuz she didn't text him back, then they're written as madly in love, then he rages on her for being a vampire.
And the fact that they paused the relationship to build up her and Tyler's just to drop and and go back to her and Matt. And then with Tyler and Caroline, she literally did such a selfless thing by staying with him at his first full moon, then someone whispers doubts to him and then he just takes it and sides with the guys that got her kidnapped and repeatedly tortured her. SHE DID NOT DESERVE THAT.
And then Stefan who brushed her off so rudely in the first season then brushed her off again and again until they started dating. She's never treated as the first choice. Only the second choice that they somehow fell for.
She just constantly kept getting hurt by the guys that she put her love to. Klaus was the only one who saw her worth right away. But they never built on it properly because she could've been someone that he could seriously build a future with and ENJOY being a vampire. Instead it felt like the writers were doing a mix and match on which guy she'd be coupled with could get the best response. And the one that got the best response, they couldn't even continue it because they were scared of overshadowing the main couple
Her and Tyler’s relationship was really good mid s2-s3. Once they introduced Klaus it seemed to fizzle out quickly and have a lot of problems. And of course I began liking Caroline with Klaus even more by the end of s3. There was potential for Sterolime to be a great couple but the writers screwed up there too, Stefan was always back and forth with Caroline. Really he should’ve been the first to admit his feelings and had to persuade Caroline. She always feels like a last resort in her relationships, which is ridiculous because she’s great
This is actually something I was thinking about Caroline more than any other character in the show always had a love interest it went from Matt to Tyler to klaus to that one black guy who’s name I can’t remember to Stefan and it was kinda all over the place with her relationship and tbh I feel like Stefan settled for Caroline idk to me she just didn’t feel like his one true epic love

Honestly the whole show took a big dive in writing after season 3. It just became bad fan fiction. The first 3 seasons of TVD is great TV, the rest is hit and miss at best.
Heavvvy on the Stefan and Caroline ranking. It's no shade, I always preferred Stefan and Caroline as friends. The chemistry is there! But they can have semi strong chemistry and just stay friends :) If they were trying to do the whole friends to lovers trope it should have been done better, I def agree!

i have a very hot take: i feel like stefan’s “rejection” of caroline bothered her so badly because she still felt like she was losing to elena. FOLLOW ME. caroline had a deeply rooted envy of elena/insecurity issue and if things about you get heightened with vampirism i just don’t buy that those emotions went away. i think caroline genuinely loved stefan, but i think part of why she wanted him so badly was because she would’ve finally had something elena didn’t have. she would’ve won the “good brother”. and it was well known that elena broke stefan’s heart in an insane way. so even after elena broke stefan, and stefan still rejected caroline, for her it felt extremely painful because 1. she genuinely fell for him & 2. even after being rejected, disrespected, and heartbroken by elena, stefan still loved her too much to move on with caroline. she was still losing to elena even though elena was fully committed to someone else.

I hated the execution of Caroline and Stefan so much, I was so disappointed. It could've been so good! They were always there for each other, they were so protective of one another, they truly wanted the best for the other person. I was okay with him rejecting her back in season 1 because he was so obsessed with Elena and Caroline was a stranger, but later on, it should've been Stefan making the first move. It should've been him realizing he was in love with her and her being maybe apprehensive about it because he'd been all about Elena for so long, and he was Elena's ex. He should've fought for her this time

I agree. I think sometime season 5 Stefan should’ve made a move, they did have a lot of moments together. Maybe while he didn’t have his memories, so it was like he subconsciously liked Caroline for longer than we all thought. They had so many moments I for sure thought something would happen. But then they made him hung up on Elena still. All those moments didn’t matter anymore. Because in s6 when Caroline liked Stefan, it became clear the love was one sided and didn’t mean anything to him especially when he initially rejected her and was so shocked by it.
It should have been Tyler. I thought they were hot together. I got brother sister vibes from her and Stefan. Off topic but can we talk about the stupid way Tyler was killed off and no one seemed to care.

You hit the nail on the head, Caroline was ALWAYS Klaus' first choice unlike all her other love interests. That's why I always liked them together most. Plus, they also brought out different sides in each other which lent itself to such character development for me. I get all of the cons when it comes to Klaus but I always choose who treated Caroline the best and it was Klaus, period. Your thoughts on Stefan were spot on, they were a terrible pairing and I think mostly created because Damon got Elena and they decided Stefan needed someone too. Their friendship was so good and they ruined it by putting them together (even Paul Wesley who played Stefan said this).
I find it so interesting that Klaroline occurred after Joseph and Kat really pushed for Klonnie
How can you rate Caroline with Stefan lower than Caroline with Matt. First Matt is a trash character, but also when they were together Caroline wasn't even her true self. That's why I liked Steroline, because Stefan was there for Caroline when she turned and Caroline was there for him when Elena choose Damon. They were a natural fit. I would put Steroline in the middle. I LOVED her with Tyler. I think Klaroline would have been the top spot if we had gotten more story with them, but we did get a great Spinoff instead.
matt is not a trash character. and you can't say caroline wasn't her true self. that was the real caroline. she just grew and changed when she became a vampire. and why would anyone put klaroline at the top spot when klaus stabbed her and almost left her for dead? even candice hates the ship.

I still love Steroline and the Friends to Lovers. Could it have been executed better? Yes. But I still felt like it was realistic and friends to lovers
I feel like saying that Matt was unimportant was not really how I saw him, Matt to me was important because he was the only human in the show as in the only character that was completely unaware of the vampires, yeah you had other humans but they were the adults and had always known about the vampires. Matt was a teen, who we saw become an adult and still remain human whilst everyone around him weren’t like Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, Tyler and the Salvatores etc, seeing someone deal with being human and have human problems was needed as it grounded the show and made it more real. The show itself needed Matt to remind everyone that humans still exist, in this world of supernatural beings, humans still face human challenges and without that the show would fall flat. I think that the show did a good job with him, humans in the real world can some of the most mundane types of people, so making a human interesting amongst a sea of supernaturals without making him somewhat supernatural is a challenge but I think they did it well and to be honest I related to him because as I human I so him as someone to relate to, his morals, his thinking, his body language felt distinctly human and like how I would be.
In my opinion, Steroline is an insult to both Stefan and Caroline fans, and no I'm not into Klaroline either
Ngl I love Stefan and Caroline real bad. I think the whole thing about her turning her humanity off wasn't because Stefan had this strong hold on her and her emotions, like you said that's just not very Caroline. Caroline is a control freak perfectionist whom plans her life literally down to the second. I believe it was her complete intention to turn off her humanity when her mom died and Stefan was the catalyst not because she was so utterly in love with him, but because like you said, she needed something good in her life. I think her process was "I need at least one thing in my life to go well for me rn and Stefan saying he loves me could be that thing." I think it was more she wanted something to hold on to and if he didn't confess she was gonna go about her original plan. Because if she can't have this one good thing why feel anything at all. So in conclusion, she needed someone more than she needed Stefan in particular. Love your vids btw.
yeah i definitely agree! i love stefan and caroline as individual characters and their friendship dynamic, but i wasn’t the biggest fan of their romantic relationship

The fact that because Caroline is a vampire she is still techncially in the body of a 16/17 years old teenager (like physical appearance and develeopment) yet she has soooo many grown up love interests (including having children with her high school teacher)

THANK YOU YOU'RE SO RIGHT ABOUT CAROLINE & STEFAN!!! friends to lovers is my favorite trope & people hype up their relationship as this ultimate example of that trope but IT'S NOT!! both of them deserved better (and as a stelena fan it's crazy to watch it go from the off the walls chemistry & comfortable friendship of stelena to steroline which felt like 2 people who were like "well might as well get together")

I didn't even remember Alaric and Caroline did that actually happen. The Stefan and Caroline pairing really was a surprise as they built up their platonic relationship so much that the romance fell flat for real and just didn't work. I think Stefan's rejection was the last straw but not the core reason for the humanity switch. Matt and Caroline was fine but I agreed that both he and Stefan settled for her when they couldn't have Elena and both loved Elena more. Tyler and Caroline was also ok, the vampire werewolf romance was good especially with the fact that his bite was fatal to her so the forbidden love worked. But Tyler was an ass, I didn't like him before, with or after Caroline, he treated her badly must times and we could argue that Klaus treated her badly as well but he did it for pure villainy not just to hurt her because he was hurting like Tyler did. Klaus and Caroline were perfect the chemistry was there they pushed each other and she deserved someone who would choose her first like Elena had. The Caroline we got in the end was far removed from the one in the beginning and so was the Nicklaus we got at the end. She would have made a fitting queen for him and their lives together could have been glorious. Maybe if I rewatch it I might see the creepiness, but I doubt that cause I don't judge fiction by the rules of real life that just takes you out of the fantasy.
I HATE Stefan with Caroline, it made no sense, the actors had no chemistry, I couldn’t stand that relationship. She should have been with Klaus, iknow he’s not a great guy but their chemistry was insane and he loved her so much, that’s the only relationship she had I was interested in. I think it would have been very very difficult for them to have Stefan with anyone that people liked other than Elena. He was so in love with her, always picking her over everyone else. I don’t think the writers could have had Damon or Stefan with anyone but Elena, unless they completely ended it with Stefan and Elena in season two or three and didn’t have them flirt or always having them show their love for each other.
I'm not a big " friends to lovers" fan anyways. I thought it was definitely weird putting her with Stefan. She definitely had sexual chemistry with Klaus at least in that particular scene. Yeah, she never really had a perfect option

honestly i never liked klaroline. he was clearly interested in her early on but that didn't stop him from hurting her or her friends, i felt like the majority of the time she only seemed to reciprocate when she needed something or her friends did or she was the distraction, he was kinda creepy in his persuit of her and you can't really tell if she's safe with him early on. they're just a no from me personally and i liked who he got with in The Originals anyway. didn't care for really any of her relationships tbh they fumbled her and stefan and her and matt were good but happened at a bad time when she was changed. tyler was better for her at some parts but like you said he put other things before her and left a lot. she just had shitty luck..and wtf was alaric lmao that was a terrible pairing. if i could have chosen someone for her it would have been enzo. that scene in the car when she's crying and he gets mad on her behalf was so good

i just feel like they leaned too far into stefan and caroline being friends before their relationship that they still feel like friends who marry each other. i like the idea of them though. there just wasn’t enough passion and after the way stefan was with elena…it just didn’t seem all that romantic and they should’ve made him less obsessed with damon.

I enjoyed the build up to ForeWood. I loved their friendship after Tyler turns for the first time. But after they get together it really spoiled it for me. They were too all over each other it made me uncomfortable. Their relationship felt purely physical to me. And then Tyler became a hybrid and it got so much worse. And then he left. I kinda wish he stayed gone.
I think what I love about klaroline is the fact that they were never together. I feel like the writers, the need of storyline could have ruined everything. I loved to think that maybe in a couple of centuries they could have started something but not on the show. I used to love Tyler and Caroline together but the fact that he always seems to leave her is a big no. The others never really saw her before Elena, they started noticing her after Elena so no. Overall, I prefer her by herself, and maybe she could explore something with klaus like they did in the original, but them being a thing, i don't know, i can't picture it.

I am SOOOO glad you put the little aside about Klaus in near the end, because, yeah, that ship made no sense. If you watch the fan-videos, it seems like it's one of those, she makes him better and brings out the good in him because she sees the good in him stories, but nope, he fell for her without even knowing her, and then stalked her and she was clearly uncomfortable with his attention and only putting up with it to help her friends. His obsession wasn't about him appreciating the "real her," he barely even knew her, and she didn't "see the good in him," or "bring out the good in him," because he doesn't actually show her any good, he remains a selfish villain until her leaves for the spinoff. I never understood why they brought him back and had them hookup randomly. I did grow to like Klaus, and he had his "sympathetic moments," but he was very much a villain, and Caroline deserved so much better. I hate that they torpedoed any of the legitimate relationships she had (Tyler and Stephan) because fans weren't okay with her ending up with anyone else, and while I haven't gotten around to watching The Originals yet, I hear they do the same for Klaus there, even though there are at least two love interests there who make way more sense for him, especially because he actually gets a redemption arc on that show. Ugh. Love your videos.
If by Stefan and Caroline were flirting with each other you mean they were a guy and a girl who were friendly and familiar with each other sure they were flirting. I will maintain till the end of time until they really started to push them into a relationship Stefan and Caroline were pretty firmly platonic.

as much as i love klaus as a character and i do kinda love him and caroline together (love some toxicity sometimes ngl), him and caroline could never have worked. he was literally The Big Bad of the first few seasons of the show. everything the show did from it's start to the end of the originals plotline was building up to klaus (and it was worth it, the originals are SO GOOD). but it kind of solidified klaus as a villain who was irredeemable in TVD. he murdered aunt jenna, and i know damon has arguably done just as bad (SAing caroline, killing jeremy---but jeremy survived so it kind of allows the audience to "forget" how bad that was---killing lexi, etc) and the show still redeemed him. But you just can't redeem klaus in the eyes of the TVD characters. plus personally, i dont feel like klaus is a character who should ever be truly redeemed even if i lowkey kinda like him and caroline together. klaus works best as an emotionally unstable, paranoid, morally grey antagonist. you always kind of want klaus to do the right thing because you see how good he could be in the moments when he's hurting or having family moments or yk like saving carolines life... but those moments are fleeting and are pretty much nearly always eclipsed by the trust issues he can't seem to quite overcome.
my personal favourite for caroline is tyler. i just adore the whole scenario of her helping him deal with being a werewolf. i hated tyler before we got to know his character better and see how his dad was an ass and how really tyler was kinda just a teenager who needed therapy bc he didnt know how to handle his emotions (i mean the show is like "yeah he's a werewolf, so hes mad all the time" but yk). like he was never taught to handle his emotions through anything other than being aggressive bc thats how his dad treated him. and i just loved seeing him begin to like apologise to people and be more emotionally vulnerable during the time he was becoming a werewolf and catching feelings for caroline. i cant say i liked a whole lot after that, but it was such a good set up for a relationship.

Alaric was a NO. CAPITAL no. I didn't even like the magical vampire pregnancy crap. It gave low key Twilight vibes in the worst possible way for me.
Stefan and Caroline… BO-RING. Last minute crap. Too little, too late. Worst part was that he was SO willing to throw his entire life away, including his life WITH HIS NEW WIFE, all for his brother and HIS happiness… wow. Anti-climactic.
Now AYE would have had Klaus after Stefan because he was indeed very creepy towards her, yet their chemistry was very solid. My biggest beef was that I felt it was overrated and out of the blue. She’s pretty. So’s everybody on the show. She’s bubbly and sweet. So are countless women and girls. I also felt that him loving her made him SO much less threatening to me. If Klaus had been as ruthless and heartless as he was thought to be by everyone, he wouldn't be falling head over heels for a SEVENTEEN (maybe 18? Idk) vampire who barely existed and he was over 1,000 years old… She’s a major ally to his enemies and he’s… drawing horse drawings of her and his favorite horse… OKAY…
I would put Matt above Klaus because the chemistry was there BUT lacked the creep factor and only made BOTH characters really grow. Caroline indeed gave Matt something to do, and Matt (being the resident sweet boy) made Caroline deeper and less shallow (her “love” for Stefan early on was completely superficial. She didn't know him. Albeit she WAS a teen, and who didn't imagine marrying their crush?). Matt’s other “love interests” minus MAYBE Rebecca (sorta-kinda) were all boring, rushed, or in Elena’s case she never really loved him like that.
I liked Tyler and Caroline best. The chemistry was there and AYE TOO did not like Tyler whatsoever until he got with Caroline.
She TOO softened Tyler from villainous beginnings (him with Vicki, yikes), but in HIS case it worked because a lot of his aggression (I would wager some of… ahem… the stuff with Vicki… *gulps*) was due to the moon and his werewolf aggression surfacing even if his curse wasn't yet triggered.
The dichotomy of werewolf and vampire, his mom being the leader of the council and a vampire hater FOR REAL (whereas Caroline’s mom came around and her dad removed himself after feeling bad about not loving her/accepting her/being able to accept himself becoming a vampire).
I also agree that the amount of times he left her was shameful, but KLAUS was indeed responsible for some of the worst of it because he himself had designs on Caroline and he happily got in the way of their love (another reason why I could never pick her and Klaus, he was selfish and didn't respect HER wishes and desires. She wanted Tyler. If she chose Klaus over Tyler, she should have been allowed to do so on her own accord, not have her relationship sabotaged in order for her to become single, one day, so they could have a chance).
The biggest straw for me was also Tyler’s last straw with her: her hooking up with Klaus after the man brutally murdered his mother (in THIS show drowning doesn't seem like much compared to the gore of it all… but folks should be aware that drowning is one of the most painful and tragic ways to die, and she had been FORCED to drown by this evil douche… messed up). Even if she “just wanted to get it out of her system” and/or get him to leave her alone forerver… it was not okay in my opinion.
I was honestly scared that with Stefan’s ending in this show that Caroline and Klaus might find their way to each other. I HATED the Originals (despite some cool things, much like here) but one thing I LOVED was the fact that Klaus and Caroline WILL NOT be together. 🙌🏾

I agree with pretty much all of your points and have also come to the conclusion that of all the love interests, Tyler was probably the best one. If you want to see something that features a couple having great sexual chemistry but also having fun and humour, watch the movie “Undercover Blues” (1993). It’s got Dennis Quaid, Kathleen Turner, Stanley Tucci and Fiona Shaw.
Also, there’s werewolf-vampire romances in the Underworld movies. (If you haven’t seen them.) Definitely enemies vibes in that too.

I LOVED Caroline and Taylor and for long time this was my favorite couple in the hole show. But i also like her with Klaus and it is funny because at first i hated them together 😂 but i really wish they hat a chance because they could have been sooo good. Particulary with the storyline they had in the Originals
im only 3 minutes in and can i just say i had COMPLETELY blocked out the alaric + caroline romance and i was happy not remembering it 😂😂so thank you for reminding me. it's so weird. like you kind of just have to accept 150+ year age differences in vampire romances bc thats just how it is, yk? it's like suspending your disbelief when watching a superhero show or something. you just do it. but caroline + alaric is different bc that's just a normal human age gap and he was her teacher, which makes it feel realistic/true to real life and therefore weird bc irl some teachers take advantage of their students. no 150 year old is dating a teenager irl tho, so there really isn't the same ick factor imo. it's so hard to explain, but it's just different. ig kinda like how a lot of people can enjoy enemies to lovers when its in a fantasy story, but not when its in a contemporary story. like there has to be some level of "removed from reality" to it or else you can't ignore(? not sure thats the right word) how weird things are.

Caroline was better in The Originals than she was in TVD’s later seasons. Having all of her stories basically revolve around a new man every season destroyed her as a character. How many love stories does one girl need in a Vampire show?

after thinking about it, I found her choices to be a lot, but the quality was not always great. After Elian left the show, Caroline was taking more of a front seat and that was a good writing choice when you think of the character type that they wanted. So I guess that's why she ends up with Stephen at the end of the show to show that full circle I found him boring for the most part I was more of a Damon and Klus fan when it came to the men. I also feel like there are vampires and the idea of forever is more of a moment situation I feel like she could have a lot more love down the line because of that. I don't know who I wanted her to end up with, to be honest, maybe bringing in a whole new character for her would have been the best but I wanted her to have more fire in her relationships like Elian got to have with Damon just for Caroline not as at a toxic level because her character would have not put up with it as much as Elian did.
With Stefan and Caroline it kind of reminds me of Angel and Cordelia.But with Angel and Cordelia,I felt it came out of no where.I just feel they didn’t set it up well.I know some people won’t agree with me.Also maybe it La because they only kind of realised when other people mentioned it that bugged me.

Caroline was my favorite character episode 1. I remember celebrating when Katherine killed her and she became a vampire. She was great the first couple of seasons. I hated that the writers made her turn off her emotions I totally agree with you her character would never do that. Out of everyone she was always the best when it came to handling her emotions. The final seasons don't exist to me they were really awful.
I agree, Elena always was big on denial so her shutting off her emotions was a possibility, but it made no sense for Caroline to do it because she had the best emotional regulation

I think Caroline "turning off" her humanity after Stefan rejected her was the COMBINATION of her mom dying AND Stefan rejection on the DAY of a mom's funeral. I understand why Stefan rejected her then; she was still grieving, BUT, maybe he shouldn't have done it on the SAME day of her mom's funeral . . . That's what I think. 😉 Also, my "favorite" guy for Caroline was Tyler; I never really liked her with Klaus . . . Matt was my 2nd "favorite" guy for her, but that's just MY opinion! 🙃

I'm really liking friends to lovers and don't mind boring but... the problem I have with Steroline is that it felt like it wasn't even really Stefan's choice but everyone around him talked him into this relationship. It felt like Elena's always his first choice. I never felt him loving Caroline in a romantic way and he always let her down or left her. Caroline deserved better than this.
I firmly believe that Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes were meant to be endgame. The undeniable spark between them was a result of their complex and deep connection, which went beyond mere chemistry. The tension and passion they shared was palpable, making their will-they-won't-they dynamic all the more captivating.
Not to mention the drama surrounding Klaus's reputation as a villain only added to the intrigue. Caroline, who was clearly drawn to him, struggled with her feelings due to her friends' disapproval and Klaus's troubled past. Meanwhile, Elena, who dated Damon despite his abusive behavior towards Caroline, was seemingly oblivious to her friend's suffering.
The double standards in the show were staggering. Damon, who had murdered her brother, brutally abused Caroline, and used her as a means to an end, was seen as a viable romantic partner for Elena. In contrast, Caroline was condemned for having feelings for Klaus, who may have had a questionable past but never actually hurt her. This hypocrisy is infuriating, especially considering Damon's history of violence towards Caroline.
In stark contrast to Stefan and Caroline's lackluster relationship, Klaus and Caroline shared undeniable chemistry. Their scenes together were always memorable, from their intense moments in the woods to their heartfelt conversations. The way Klaus looked at Caroline with genuine affection and respect only added to their connection.
Caroline played a significant role in Klaus's character development, helping him open up and find kindness again. Without her influence, The Originals might have been a very different show. Klaus's appreciation for Caroline's kindness and her willingness to put her life on the line for her friends made him change.
As Caroline grew as a character, she became more confident and self-assured. Her newfound vampire powers only added to her strength and independence. Unfortunately, every guy she dated except for Klaus treated her as the second option. Matt made her feel bad about being a vampire and didn't appreciate her unique qualities.
In contrast, Tyler prioritized his revenge over his relationship with Caroline, sleeping with Hayley behind her back and then dismissing her when he returned to Mystic Falls. When she pleaded with him to stay, he turned his back on her and chose his ego over their relationship.
I firmly believe that Caroline and Klaus would have been an amazing endgame couple. They balanced each other out perfectly, with Klaus bringing out the best in Caroline and vice versa. Their relationship would have been full of passion, romance, and mutual respect.
The possibility of their child together could have led to exciting storylines exploring themes of hope and family. It would have been wonderful to see them fall in love and care for each other more deeply. Unfortunately, the writers didn't explore this potential endgame pairing further.
The fact that Joseph Morgan himself wanted to explore the relationship further only adds fuel to the fire. A storyline where Caroline travels with Klaus to Europe or helps him navigate his family dynamics could have been incredibly compelling. Ultimately, I believe that Caroline and Klaus were meant to be together, and their relationship would have been a beautiful exploration of complex characters and emotions.
Klaus and Caroline makes no sense. What does Klaus see in Caroline? They literally have no scenes together and I have no idea where this chemistry everyone claims is there. That entire relationship made no sense for klaus or Caroline.

For Klaroline- She's the only one not afraid to call him out on his crap. She wasn't scared of him and didn't treat him like a villain. She saw through his façade and got to know his true self.
He fell in love with her because she treated him with well. Not the way everyone else did. She made him feel something again.

Then he randomly came to her room did this whole poetic speech of love or whatever and healed her. When I first watch the show I was confused AF

He was trying to make her feel better about her birthday (albeit in his own way 😂) by telling her all of the amazing things she can do with her eternity and offering to show it to her. He doesn't fall in love with her until later on in Season 3 and doesn't admit it until season 4

i have a very hot take: i feel like stefan’s “rejection” of caroline bothered her so badly because she still felt like she was losing to elena. FOLLOW ME. caroline had a deeply rooted envy of elena/insecurity issue and if things about you get heightened with vampirism i just don’t buy that those emotions went away. i think caroline genuinely loved stefan, but i think part of why she wanted him so badly was because she would’ve finally had something elena didn’t have. she would’ve won the “good brother”. and it was well known that elena broke stefan’s heart in an insane way. so even after elena broke stefan, and stefan still rejected caroline, for her it felt extremely painful because 1. she genuinely fell for him & 2. even after being rejected, disrespected, and heartbroken by elena, stefan still loved her too much to move on with caroline. she was still losing to elena even though elena was fully committed to someone else.
