No thanks, cause you will never know what Google is doing. You are just guessing and you are always 12-steps behind google. SEO is not needed anymore. Google is not needed anymore. In fact. As always, very good information! I've had a few blogs before that did well, but I'm about to start a new project. Given the circumstances, it's quite scary at times, but I still see opportunities. My focus will be on diversifying traffic sources and less on SEO. It's going to be an interesting journey...
That's a good plan. It's about getting traffic outside of Google as putting all of your faith in SEO alone is too risky.

I'm a paper guy in fact I've written out long hand, with the help of ai, a good deal of gthe content for 3 blogs. being a real tech putz is ok? 2) I'm living mostly in China, will that pose any problems? I started my blog in January of this year, learned from another girl who’s been successful in the blogging industry and was taught to use Pinterest as a form of a traffic driver to my site.
I used a niched down name website for crochet and thinking about changing my domain/niche. I have 21 blog posts and been posting 1-2 blog post a week.
I’m thinking about changing because I noticed a lot of revenue comes from affiliate marketing THEN ad revenue (depending on the niche) My niche is crochet and the items I have for affiliate marketing are very low cost to the consumer (yarn, crochet hooks, etc) Which is making me question whether or not I should stick with this niche. Or stay with the niche and focus on traffic for ad revenue.
Low cost to the consumer means that my percentage will be practically Penny’s. I just started so I have no sales, staying motivated/disciplined. But I want to make sure I’m in a right pool.

Hey Hadiya! Thanks for the question. I always recommend starting your domain as a personal brand for this specific reason - you can always pivot your content without starting over.
I think crocheting could be a good niche but the best monetization plan would be to rank for informational crochet content, then build your email list and sell your own crocheting product/ course. I would think about that first before trying a different niche.

Hi Adam, another great informative video. Thanks. I just started in January this year. My website has been up since Feb 10th, so almost at the 90 day mark. I was taught to wait on adding any affiliate links till the site matures and has more traffic. Do you think it’s still too early?
Yes I would wait until you have some traffic as you’ll get approved for more programs. It’s a numbers game and not worth it if you don’t have much traffic yet. Think in terms of like 100-500+ visits or more to a specific affiliate article per month.

So I had a website boost in Sept, and boost all the way through to the end of the March update in April 19th. Then May 4th, dropped like a rock. I know the parasite update is dropping, but I don’t do that, so maybe there’s volatility right now?
Lots of volatility and big media sites and Reddit ranking over small blogs.

Again is it advisable to partner with more than one ad network?
I’ve used Mediavine and thought it was good. You only should use one at a time.

Thanks for the video! I was really interested in writing in the tech/AI space, but now from your video, it sounds like that would be too competitive? My idea was to find keywords that aren't competitive, have some traffic, low DR and all that, but it sounds like you're saying its not a good idea because it will be out-ranked eventually?
For Google, that will be extremely competitive for a new blogger. However those are great niches for a TH-cam channel as they aren't as competitive. If you're set on blogging, try to think about your personal and professional experience - maybe a hobby that has monetization potential or something that hasn't been taken over by big media sites like software, business, finance, etc.
@AdamEnfroy, is there a strategy for blogging toward a persona or type of behavior rather than a category? For example, blogging about people looking to spin up online businesses or side hustles. Fortunately/unfortunately, a lot of our personal hobbies overlap with our professional skillsets. We often use our work knowledge and understanding of new tech to generate entrepreneurial projects. Like "Using new technology to spin up new Etsy products"

It feels like maybe we're doing the whole "when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail."
It’s harder to target a specific persona with a blog because all Google traffic is keyword driven, and keywords and the way people search typically don’t include the audience in the search. TH-cam is better for that type of audience building.
Thanks Adam, I have started blogging and have published 36 articles so far but haven't applied for any ad networks yet, though I am wondering to apply for ad sense at the same time I am not sure whether the domain age will be a hurdle in the adsense approval.
Traffic is really the only hurdle, and looking like a decent website. I’d try Mediavine once traffic increases a bit instead of Adsense.

Google will be moderately competitive. TH-cam would be a good angle, then selling your own MMA fitness program.

@@AdamEnfroy I'm still trying to figure out what kind of stuff to promote in it. So far it's calculators, a few books I've read, and I'm in the process of making a list blog other best telescopes for beginner astrophotographers. Do you have any other suggestions?
I’d target niche long tail keywords around specific types of telescopes.
Best 6 inch dobsonian
Best 10 inch donsonian
Best reflector telescope for beginners
Etc.
Then lots of info content to blanket it. Start with one type of product and write it a good amount of info on it - 10 or so articles before moving to the next.
I can’t get over the fact that I’d be putting myself as the author when the ai writes it in first person so would it be acceptable to have it written in second person so the ai is more stating facts than made up first person experiences and be upfront that my role as an author is to edit and review already researched content and to prioritize transparency this way.
I just launched my blog as a wellness/lifestyle blog with a big picture brand focus.
My hope is that I could write about a variety of topics within categories such as wellness, beauty, travel.
Is this no longer viable? Is niche the way now?
I would pick one subniche first and write informational articles for topical authority before moving onto another topic.
I thought I was starting to make headway after the 90 days. Impressions were starting to grow then the march update hit and google completely destroyed the blog. Makes it hard to continue. I am not giving up but the momentum is gone
