My (admittedly limited) knowledge of Doomsday is that he's not necessarily STUPID - as in, having a low IQ - he just doesn't really *need* to think. If you were stronger than ten trillion nukes and spent thousands of lifetimes solving your problems by crushing or eviscerating them, you probably wouldn't use much brainpower either. He's still got some intelligence, so he probably has things he likes and dislikes, too. Maybe he likes how his hair looks when it's styled.

My friend bought that comic when it came out, it was actually the complete comic BOOK, all issues, he let me borrow it in the class's free reading time. It was friggin marvelous. The movie though, nerfed Doomsday so bad, it was one of the the main reasons I hated that movie.

I think you forgot to mention how as he evolved he started developing intelligence and that actually made him weaker than he was before. As he began to develop, he started having emotions. This lead to him eventually developing fear of Superman. I’m pretty sure they had a conversation where Superman told him that because you are now afraid, you will not be as strong as you were. And then they go there separate ways and he becomes peaceful
When Doomsday is killed, he sooner or later is revived and has developed an immunity towards whatever killed him. I wonder if the same would apply if he ever faced of against Saitama.

Right around the time the human genome was being sequenced. They should have used this origin story in Justice League or saved it for Man of Steel 2.

Doomsday is one of my Top #3 DC characters, #1 being a Superman villain and #1 comics monster of all time. Nobody or nothing can defeat a character like Doomsday.
Am I the only one finding Doomsday to be tragic? I mean, think about it. Ever since his infancy, he was forced into a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth by a psychotic maniac who wanted to create the ultimate killing machine. On top of that, the traumatic memory of all his previous deaths caused him to hate everyone and everything in the universe.

The worst part about channels as good as this one is that you find them like I did a little over a year ago now but it didn't take me long to watch everything on the channel and now I'm stuck waiting between uploads and I shed a tear everytime I reminisce on the days I could watch this channel for hours
I remember a friend of mine bringing this comic in at school back in the early 90s. I was never a big Super-Man fan but Super-Man vs Doomsday was great. would have made a amazing movie if Warner Bros didn't screw it up
The "Death of superman", "rise of the supermen" and where really good stories! I just don't understand why dc choses not to do stories like those in the big screen, are they afraid?
In all honesty I *hate* how they protrayed him in the somewhat recent film, but otherwise he's my absolute favorite DC comics villain of all time. He's simple, just a pure unadulterated titan of brute force, the only one strong enough being the very strongest superhero. The ultimate good versus the ultimate evil. Such a legendary battle is enough to shake *our* Earth, so why wouldn't Doomsday be my favorite villain?
Killing Doomsday is like trying to solo a raid boss...who is constantly regenerating half their health bar every turn...and when you kill them, you get three turns to rest before he revives, with double the health he had beforehand, and double the damage resistance to whatever killed him.
One of the first comic books I ever read was "The Death of Superman"...also could you one day maybe cover some of the creatures or scenarios from Ray Harryhausen's films like Gwangi from The Valley of Gwangi or the Ymir from 20 Million Miles to Earth?
I think the only ways besides entropy to permanently kill doomsday are either temporal manipulation to prevent his conception by time travel or reality warping to erase from existence.
I haven't looked at the comics in a while to know if this is no longer canon, but Doomsday has returned since the point where you ended in several things. During the Imperiex War, the new Suicide Squad was sent to the Watchtower to free Doomsday and Manchester Black was sent along to mind control Doomsday into shifting focus from killing everything (particularly Kryptonians) to killing Imperiex. This led to Superman fighting side by side with Doomsday through ranks of Imperex probes and to Imperiex Prime, who promptly killed Doomsday and apparently disintegrated him. In one elseworlds story, set in the future, Superman is taken by the villain Gog and held as captive until a legion of Supermen comes to rescue him. One of the Supermen is a future Doomsday. Seeing that it was his lack of intelligence that kept leading to his death, his adaptability eventually led to him becoming truly sentient and in the process the examples of Superman's defense of others and sacrifice of himself led Doomsday to reform. He took up the mantle of being one of the Supermen in order to fix some of his past deeds.
No way.... Very cool. I stopped reading the comics after the 5 supposed Supe's came back and the BvS Doomsday was a complete joke so I hadn't known anything more about Doomsday. What you're saying sounds pretty cool.
I'm kind of sad you didn't mention the plan Superman came up with to give Doomsday a weakness. Eventually he and the League ended up giving him sentience...and the ability to understand pain. As Superman said and was right, Doomsday now understood what pain was...and didn't like it. In fact, he wanted to avoid it. By becoming self aware he now had a fear of pain and death, and thus would never be as dangerous a before. Well, at least until that got changed back later. Still, great video!

I really love your videos. You explain these topics like a researcher or a scientist. No matter how fantastical the topic you have a way of grounding it with realism with your delivery. Comic Doomsday does differ from the Dawn of Justice in that he doesn't have that cant be killed by the same method twice which is only in the comics.

Am I the only one finding Doomsday to be tragic? I mean, think about it. Ever since his infancy, he was forced into a never-ending cycle of death and rebirth by a psychotic maniac who wanted to create the ultimate killing machine. On top of that, the traumatic memory of all his previous deaths caused him to hate everyone and everything in the universe.
I don't get why, instead of just letting Doomsday float through space, they didn't throw him into a black hole. Can't resurrect if you've been reduced to a singularity

The worst part about channels as good as this one is that you find them like I did a little over a year ago now but it didn't take me long to watch everything on the channel and now I'm stuck waiting between uploads and I shed a tear everytime I reminisce on the days I could watch this channel for hours
I remember a friend of mine bringing this comic in at school back in the early 90s. I was never a big Super-Man fan but Super-Man vs Doomsday was great. would have made a amazing movie if Warner Bros didn't screw it up

In all honesty I *hate* how they protrayed him in the somewhat recent film, but otherwise he's my absolute favorite DC comics villain of all time. He's simple, just a pure unadulterated titan of brute force, the only one strong enough being the very strongest superhero. The ultimate good versus the ultimate evil. Such a legendary battle is enough to shake *our* Earth, so why wouldn't Doomsday be my favorite villain?

Killing Doomsday is like trying to solo a raid boss...who is constantly regenerating half their health bar every turn...and when you kill them, you get three turns to rest before he revives, with double the health he had beforehand, and double the damage resistance to whatever killed him.

I think the only ways besides entropy to permanently kill doomsday are either temporal manipulation to prevent his conception by time travel or reality warping to erase from existence.

I haven't looked at the comics in a while to know if this is no longer canon, but Doomsday has returned since the point where you ended in several things.
During the Imperiex War, the new Suicide Squad was sent to the Watchtower to free Doomsday and Manchester Black was sent along to mind control Doomsday into shifting focus from killing everything (particularly Kryptonians) to killing Imperiex. This led to Superman fighting side by side with Doomsday through ranks of Imperex probes and to Imperiex Prime, who promptly killed Doomsday and apparently disintegrated him.
In one elseworlds story, set in the future, Superman is taken by the villain Gog and held as captive until a legion of Supermen comes to rescue him. One of the Supermen is a future Doomsday. Seeing that it was his lack of intelligence that kept leading to his death, his adaptability eventually led to him becoming truly sentient and in the process the examples of Superman's defense of others and sacrifice of himself led Doomsday to reform. He took up the mantle of being one of the Supermen in order to fix some of his past deeds.

Very cool. I stopped reading the comics after the 5 supposed Supe's came back and the BvS Doomsday was a complete joke so I hadn't known anything more about Doomsday.

I'm kind of sad you didn't mention the plan Superman came up with to give Doomsday a weakness. Eventually he and the League ended up giving him sentience...and the ability to understand pain. As Superman said and was right, Doomsday now understood what pain was...and didn't like it. In fact, he wanted to avoid it. By becoming self aware he now had a fear of pain and death, and thus would never be as dangerous a before. Well, at least until that got changed back later. Still, great video!
