You ever wonder why the Mantis bots are so... childish for a lack of a better term?

I wouldn’t be surprised if shodan killed the kids and used them like this.

Such drastic modifications maybe revert the personality to one that has been engrained earliest in their development?

      My personal theory is this:
The standard drone and this are the first attempts at Shodan to enforce drastic psychological adherence to her will.
Think about it. This guy and those drones all have the black hood/ cylinder like heads of the security forces of triop. These are the people that would of been converted first for a effective fighting force. They are the best and pragmatic people to be modified into cyborgs right away lest they break off and form a fighting resistence, the later cyborgs are more clear because they are either converts or refined, later captured forces.
The mantis is a sec officer. Fun fact: people who are lobotomised are actually reverted to a child like state, in many cases when the practice was common the care workers were told to actually treat full grown lobotomised adults like they were kids again. Not all of them, obviously such a procedure had many reactions.
Still, I think it fits the mantis. Shodan wanted her soldiers to not just serve her, but love her, rely on her. The lobotomization of drones is a good first ground way of doing this. Those that are render child like, like the cyborg mantis, can be further altered in the surgery to filter out or get joy from their artifical parental attachment to shodan. The other security drone form, is the other end of the spectrum. While the mantis desires fun and get excited easily.
The standard drone is so null of emotions that they simply don't engage in the msot basic of creative or social interactions - as opposed to the mantis who is literally making metaphors and poems when idle - Each of these are the far ends of control. One hyper emotional and dependent/ lacking critical thinking to properly assess what's truly going on around him ,the other one ultra-capable and spatially aware but so controlled it''s a robot with extra-steps.
Notice that her later cyborgs - the standard cyborg converts don't suffer either issue, but still twitch and seem a bit off. The ELITE cyborgs show no signs of either. They are refined. They have existential agnst and displeasure, but they are fully capable of being attached to shoadan while retaining human-like spatial awareness and creative/ abstract thinking.
